  1. Berg is a guy I like a lot, as he has ability to keep the ball on the ground at an elite level.
  2. he's only had 2 strikeouts all year
  3. that's my entire point, he's been relegated to decoy status. if his hand hurts that bad, put him on the DL. if he's not going to be given a fair shot, let him OPS 1200 or whatever in Iowa so we can get something useful for him.
  4. well he certainly didn't capitalize on the opportunity given to him today, the bum
  5. felix pie AB's this season: 350 over/under?
  6. i think kennedy has the highest fantasy upside of that bunch
  7. marquis is obviously just pitching around guys to get to Utley
  8. 1) Pie's hand is still somewhat bothering him 2) He's working with Perry on his swing and they don't want him facing much live pitching until the new habits have taken hold 3) There was a behavioral issue we don't know about 4) He was starting to lose confidence and Lou wants to get him refocused 5) He was pressing too hard and Lou wants to take the pressure off (this one will be jumped on, but there's more than one way to do it) 6) Lou simply feels that the best way to introduce a talented young player who needs adjusting isn't to simply throw him in the deep end of the pool ... Lou was drooling over Ryan Spilborghs in the offseason, pulls Felix 2 ABs into a game on the double switch, gave him no chance to be the starter last season, gave Sam Fuld every opportunity to win the job this spring, it's been clear for awhile that Lou isn't in the business of cutting him many breaks.
  9. i'd love to hear some of them. the kid couldn't buy 2 PAs in a game last season because of Jacque Jones and now it is being plainly expressed that Lou trusts Reed Johnson more, even vs. right handers. Reed Johnson, who was just cut 2 weeks ago.
  10. .225/.380/.675 Pena keeps his up and his new nickname is King ISO, my dark horse to win AL MVP
  11. there's absolutely no way the Preds can conceivably come back from a 2-0 deficit. unless perhaps Zetterberg and Datsyuk skate into each other and get dual concussions.
  12. Corey Patterson: 4 Cubs Leader: 4
  13. lol at Izturis' 8 BB and .405 OBP so far pitchers in the NL are really good
  14. I fully agree, but it won't be for any legitimate reason. He's being railroaded by the coaching staff; Lou is determined to destroy this kid's confidence.
  15. Anaheim already down 2-0 to the Stars in the series. If they have an early exit, the Redwings are going to have an easy road to the finals. I see them winning the Cup if that happens.
  16. but it's not all his fault that the team's loaded with irresponsible forwards like briere and lupul.
  17. you've gotta give the caps credit sooner or later, that's a really good team.
  18. well he certainly had artificial help
  19. I can picture a situation where Matt Cain becomes available this July, after Sabean's reign of lunacy finally comes to an end. Sadly, we may be lacking in the young offensive firepower to offer them, but I'd sure as hell love to try. I probably empty the farm for this guy.
  20. i'm guessing O-Dog's agent is an avid BP reader and loves the fact that WARP considers him a superior value on the field to miguel cabrera. but 15m - only a emoticon will suffice: :rotfl:
  21. Ethier was the Texas league player of the year and Youkilis had an entire chapter written about him in a NY Times bestseller. The best examples I can think of are Holliday, Atkins, Uggla, Santana, Chris Duncan, Mark Reynolds, Jason Bay, McLouth, Willingham, Melky Cabrera, Pujols and of course our very own Ryan Theriot! Soto too. Pitching wise there's really a lot of guys, since it's impossible to predict very well. Both Zambrano and Hill come to mind. Similarly there's Bannister, Wang, and Shields.
  22. "what's best for Hill" that language makes me uncomfortable. Hill should be glad though, Pignatiello basically only got eight pitches to prove himself before getting the ax in Lou's reactionary world. And Pie got just three games.
