  1. fuku really got down the line in a hurry
  2. if i'm rostering a player in a keeper league it's going to be one that has top-35 draft pick upside for next year. i don't know of any regularly-available FA who has more upside. if upton, bruce, longoria or maybin are available then sure-pick one of them up. but since he's talking about keeper sleepers i assumed they weren't. i don't see why gomez isn't capable of having a rookie year mirroring that of jose reyes or carl crawford.
  3. i wish this team didnt draft so poorly
  4. carlos gomez. off the charts bat speed and a faster runner than jose reyes. really raw at the plate, but could be fantasy gold- esp. in keeper leagues. give him 550 ABs and he'll easily steal 50 bases, and double digit HRs isn't out of the question. probably not a BA asset though. .265-.270 seems right. and with his speed- mauer, young, cuddyer and morneau should drive him in 95 times or so.
  5. man i hated hollandsworth and how dusty called him "holly"
  6. WS - tigers over mets in 6 nl mvp - santana al mvp - m cabrera nl cy - santana al cy - papelbon nl roy - maybin al roy - a ramirez al moy - maddon nl moy - dusty
  7. :glare: thats only the english scholar quoted in my sig
  8. i hated none of these players. but dusty, yeah. where's neifi?
  9. it was against the giants. 2 R in 5 IP might be more of a negative than a positive, considering the 2 runs they'll be scoring per game all year.
  10. amii stewart - knock on wood
  11. bynum's the front-runner for the SS job, from what i've read. pagan likewise for the LF job in NY.
  12. so wait, Jose's wife is the tranny type?
  13. call your team "this leagues full of idiots"
  14. would Shane Victorino be well served to be traded and taken out of Citizen Bank, where he's performed much better over his career? road-away splits are fluky when extreme park factors aren't in play (pre-humidor Coors). the Petco dimensions don't generally punish RH pull hitters, it's CF and RF that are especially spacious. wrigley's more friendly to RH pull hitters? WF: Distances from plate: Left field - 355 feet Left-center - 368 feet Center field - 400 feet PP: Dimensions: Left-Field Line: 336 feet Left Field: 357 feet Center Field: 396 feet last years petco with wrigley overlay. looks like he'd have had 2 more HRs for sure and possibly another 1 or 2 playing in wrigley for the home games if those found their way into the basket. but he's also playing different teams for 72 of the road games. i'm just not sold. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e382/harryddunn/khalilinwrigley.jpg?t=1206411381
  15. last year in his best season, he was something like 16th among shortstops in WARP. and he was -3 defender whereas Theriot was +1. and i'm considerably skeptical he'll keep hitting 27 HRs rather than his usual 15. im not saying i completely agree with the methodology used to determine these numbers, but those are the only arguments people accept on this board, so i included them for reference. pie's a question mark, but khalil's road numbers translating perfectly is a certainty? im going to have to disagree.
  16. the consensus on the board all winter was to trade him for mediocre SS who's coming on FA soon. for as much complaining is done about the Soriano contract, wouldn't it stay consistent with their rationale that the bad contract for Soriano necessitates contribution from minimum salary players for the next several seasons? this is where felix, soto, e-patt and theriot/cedeno come in. there are probably few players more important than pie for assuring our window of opportunity isn't closing in a couple years. this is, unless we get a big spender owner.
  17. i could live with a 952 OPS from him this year
  18. Is this the same Steve Kline, who once wish that Mark Prior took a line drive off the head, and that he could no longer pitch in the majors? I mean no longer be a fan or Prior, but I'll never forgive Kline for wishing bodily harm on a fellow player. well you could make an argument the franchise would have been in much better shape the past couple years if this had happened. just sayin.
  19. get rid of willits for milledge. this instant. he'll probably even outsteal reggie.
  20. well he showed better plate discipline last year than alex gordon, chris young, lastings milledge, ryan braun, saltalamacchia, pence, crawford, kemp, soriano, khalil greene, phillips, delmon young, and kendrick, to name a few, and nobody seems to have similar trepidations that those players will have quality seasons this year and productive careers. maybe if he lucks into a .417 babip this season like kemp last year we'll all think he's a fantastic player.
  21. Bailey should be there for awhile, and it's not because of Dusty.
