    For the Jags, I'm not sold on Sensabaugh as the long term answer and there aren't any glaring positions of need with Groves being selected previously to address the pass rush. Curtis Lofton and Trevor Laws could have gone here, but they'll go in a different direction.     which translated to a 4.7 warp. i'm not trying to be contrarian i just think thats interesting. WARP incorporates defense, and Neifi was one of the best defensive SS in baseball in 2005. Not to mention that a 4.7 warp isn't really 4.7 wins above a replacement level player. You'd be hard pressed to find anybody that actually matches their definition of replacement level. i'm aware of that, but it either means one of two things: 1) he was unfairly abused by the fans that year, or 2) warp is nonsense

    the problem isnt Reed Johnson, it's that Pie was given a total of four games as a starter and has been firmly entrenched in the dog house ever since. It took 1 game for Eric Patterson to get sent back down. It took 8 pitches for Pignatiello to get sent down. It took 7 ABs for Soto to get sent back to Iowa last year. and so forth you can't hand out 8 and 9-figure contracts to fill every hole on your team, you need young minimum salary players to step in and play. Lou has absolutely no concern of the future, which is scary because winning this year becomes so much more critical with the window rapidly closing. that we're having success thus far shouldn't cover up what is a very legitimate concern. what are we doing now to get any trade value out of Pie? his value is rapidly diminishing when we're indicating we're much more comfortable with a guy fresh off the waiver wire out there instead. and like Juan Cruz, Patterson, Farnsworth, we'll have waited until his value is at an all-time low before trading him.

    with Soriano hurt it's not impossible for both Reed and Pie to get starts, in their natural positions, but that thought has not been considered. it's disappointing but that's life.

    i'm thrilled that Reed's hitting .356, but it's definitely bittersweet because the odds are stacked so much against Pie right now that he (in my opinion) probably doesn't finish the summer with us, and that'll have pronounced negative longterm effects. the timing is coincidental; i was miffed a while ago when he was obviously out of chances to prove himself and Johnson was not hitting .356.

    this is where Millen will take a no-talent hard worker that Marinelli loves despite a 5th round grade from the rest of the teams.

    i find it worrisome that Weeks is hitting .176, Braun and Prince are hitting .222, Gagne is blowing save after save, they haven't had Gallardo until today and they're still 11-7.

    are you saying that you think Lou will bench Reed for an extended period of time based on his one missed play? if so, you don't know Lou.

    well we need a defensive replacement and pinch runner. and a guy to use as a decoy tricking opposing managers into a pitching change

    it was pretty obvious a couple years ago that they if they added a #2 SP they would had the makings of a future NL West dynasty with Upton, Young, Gonzalez(s), Drew, Quentin, Jackson, Montero, Owings, Nippert in the system. Nippert flamed out and Quentin was dealt, but it shouldn't be a surprise that they're doing extremely well right now. and it won't stop for several years. because we didn't have Gonzalez, Eveland, Greg Smith, Anderson, Carter and Cunningham. hell, we didn't even have Carlos Gonzalez.

    I don't like being Fukudomeless, but...MURTON!!!! I'm really confused how Murton goes from riding the bench behind DeRosa/Cedeno (more or less), and then a last minute injury comes up and Lou bats him in front of both of them. Not complaining, but still...I figure it's got to say something about how little Lou thinks of Murton's defense? that's still less confusing than Matt Kemp sitting for Juan Pierre half of the time and hitting 3rd in the lineup the other half.

    Lou thinks the same thing and expresses as much in his quotes about Theriot. It doesn't preclude you from winning a championship to have one sub-par producer in your lineup. Management considers his intangibles a strong enough asset to offset these flaws, or believes he'll improve.

Check his 2005. i drew my own conclusion that the Cedeno hate occurred in 2006. stop me if i'm mischaracterizing. 2005 - LOVE HIM 2006 - severe irrational cedeno hate 2007 - severe irrational cedeno hate continues...wallops the ball in the PCL...LOVE HIM no, upon further thought i dont see anything reactionary about that
