  1. well if thats the way you meant it what a whiny and obnoxious thing to say we'll win the division by at least 5 games and the sniveling complainers such as yourself will bitch about every bad thing that happens on the way did you even read my post? Wow You have all the subtlety and reading comprehension of a Cro Magnon, hyuck hyuck yeah it's an incredibly moronic thing to say during the course of a baseball season "we're 3-7 in our last 10, if we keep at this pace we'll win 48 games!" if you're going to be ridiculous, why not just draw from a larger sample size and extrapolate our 18-12 record?
  2. well if thats the way you meant it what a whiny and obnoxious thing to say we'll win the division by at least 5 games and the sniveling complainers such as yourself will bitch about every bad thing that happens on the way We probably will. But what should be an 80% chance is becoming a 70% chance because of general stupidity, and if we happen to see this season fall into that last 10%, people like yourself will say it was inevitable or something. i stand by my statements

  4. you'll probably see Atkins and Stewart manning 3rd and 2nd or vice versa
  5. Lou has a pitching version of Felix Pie he's determined to screw up
  6. So... basically what the zone rating stats said. but you treated it like a certainty that Theriot is now and forever henceforth will be a bad fielder.
  7. oh, i'm no saber-hater. a person can't say a negative word about anything saber-related without being filed under "saber-hater"? talk about myopia. and i'm sure that's true that most of the people here watch the games. but watch them and allow yourself some subjectivity. formulate opinions. So you honestly watch Theriot play ss and come away thinking he is a good fielder? I don't think he is terrible, but it's fairly obvious that he doesn't have much in the way of range or arm. And I am sorry, but I'm pretty tired of the whole "watch the game" argument. It's a pretty cheap shot and its usually incorrect. last year i saw him as very adequate in the field, making up for lack of arm strength with sound fundamentals and decent range to his left, but this year he's been disappointing- most notably the past week & a half or so. but he's also making boneheaded mistakes on the bases, while his hitting has been terrific. it's really been bizarro-Theriot thus far.

  9. well none of them have shown to be reliable or altogether very consistent so it'd kind of be cool to try watching some games and having a civil argument about defense using opinions. but it seems you and so many others are much more concerned with proving to everyone else how stupid they are for disagreeing with numerical manipulations masquerading as empirical proof. i can see it now, watching a ballgame "wow, what an incredible catch!" "...i'm going to have to see what dewan et. al has to say about it before i make any judgments"
  10. it'd be as informative as people who hate him cherry picking stats to support their clearly biased stance. i'd like for you to show me where i advocated we "evaluate a player's defense based upon what the people who like him say." as you stated whilst making your ridiculous straw man argument.
  11. that causes one to wonder what would cause a player to go from a top-5 defender one season to one of the worst in the league the following season? i have an idea and it involves relying on a defensive metric that considers yuniesky betancourt, bobby crosby and erick aybar dismal fielders. Your argument is pretty terrible, considering Theriot's defense is also criticized quite a bit from an observational perspective. then we can agree that RZR is a waste of time? i just found it ironic to cite a metric that had Theriot top-5 in the game last year to prove his worthlessness this year. the whole post was utterly rife with flawed logic. and furthermore to your point, Lord knows people here view Ryan Theriot with the utmost objectivity...

  13. Ronny over Theriot is not a marginal difference. theriot has a .436 obp in the 2 spot im content with that
  14. color me surprised
  15. he won't lou prefers a guy he trusts to be #2 hitter lets all belabor the point anyways and moan about a non issue that would have very marginal effect
  16. i'd take the 2nd guy, though the first might be a more valuable player of the two if he's in the leadoff spot. i see more value in driving in and advancing all the extra runners. the difference would still probably be too marginal to cause much difference in the standings.
  17. kip wells and looper had a good start last year too theyre awful
  18. all star
  19. may i suggest a calculator
  20. how exactly does Petco disable a player from hitting for average? if he's content hitting flyballs into fielders gloves every home game, he's an incredibly dumb baseball player. i'd like to ask why he hasn't changed his approach at home so that he's not a quintessential detriment to his team. We're not looking at his average. Look at his production. he doesn't have the power hit HRs in petco. we all realize this. it might be a good idea perhaps to try something different at home so you're not punishing your own ballclub. there's really no reasonable excuse for hitting .227 at your home park.
  21. You aren't really going to use this year's numbers to tell if a player's good or not, are you? I thought you were better than that. you did? good point, i committed the unforgivable sin in speaking an ill word about the NSBB messiah all credibility LOST
