  1. it's beyond thinking he's a bad analyst. practically half of the sigs on here are quotes of his, there's a 26 page topic to bash him, and he's ceaselessly mentioned out of the blue such as in quotes earlier in this topic. there's dozens of broadcasters who are just as bad or worse, but he receives all of the hatred. because of his Sandberg comments? the Moneyball epilogue? i don't really understand it.
  2. I had to do it I don't think I'll ever understand the complete and utter vitriol this board has for that guy
  3. if Marmol never faced McLouth 0.26 era 0.61 whip opponents .082/.172/.091
  4. then what are they paying him for? does he sit all day in the corner and just masturbate? my whole point was if this guy was such a shrewd talent evaluator, maybe they'd have acquired a decent player or two during his tenure. i wasn't much blaming anybody, i just said that team's roster is awful. jesus, i don't even care that much about the guy either way. what's with this weird allegiance anyways?
  5. Jemile Weeks though I suspect the Brewers might take him to convince Rickie to resign
  6. still waiting on the quote
  7. i was just curious which quote of mine you were misconstruing
  8. i hate that the allstar game is based almost entirely on who has the hottest month and a half to open the season. ryan ludwick being talked about as an allstar is patently absurd. just vote for the best players at each position.
  9. Huh? He was asking about the triple play, not the triple steal. (And in this case it should be credited as a caught stealing and an error on who threw the ball. i didnt see the 2nd post that talked about the TP or hear about the triple play. they were probably ruled as steals because the runner on third beat the throw home, but the bobbling of the ball enabled the other two runners to steal 2nd and 3rd.
  10. it was a triple steal. in the indians-white sox game with the bases loaded, the pitcher did the fake to 3rd throw to first pickoff move and caught the runner on first in a rundown. the runner on third went home and the catcher couldn't handle the throw. the runners on first and 2nd advanced.
  11. how much of a martyr would a guy have to be to purposefully bash his face on a chair?
  12. i understand it's mostly Towers, but what has he done to help?
  13. the Sox will be lucky to finish higher than 3rd it's still the Tigers division
  14. he's a good fielder compared to the rest of the players in the league at his position. the last 2 years he was stellar and i'm confident he'll return to that level once he passes this mental phase he's going through.
  15. Soriano's a good fielder. He's just in a weird mental slump, and I'm not really worried.
  16. i'll never understand why everyone is terrified of the Cardinals and Astros
  17. that brings us to a dismal 8 games over seasons over folks
  18. uh oh, DP here or Marmol is going to have to face his nemesis.
  19. life would be a lot easier if Joe Dillon were left-handed
  20. I just think he feels that the whole world thinks they never paid attention to it in the past. I know, I know, the evidence suggests they didn't, and I've told him that. Things started to change, though in a serious way during the organization meetings in the fall of '06 (wow, after Dusty was gone!), when they really started to acknowledge the importance of OBP. What worries me is I've yet to hear a good thing about Wasserstrom. He has no background in stats, moving to his current job from the media relations department. Maybe he's grown into the job along with the organization, but I fear his work includes way too much small sample size/fluke splits rather than helpful stats. They should hire Mephistopheles. it is a shame that guy got banned. nearly every prediction i can remember him making looks pretty awful right now. i'd love to hear defense for some of them. -barry zito pitching like a #1 starter again -jr towles being the most valuable rookie -brian mccann settling in as .270, 18 hr guy -khalil greene repeating fluke season -brandon phillips regressing hard
  21. i'd disagree about McLouth. he's very much for real.
