  1. i'm going to take the under it should be like 5%
  2. Leyland wasn't at the helm of a team that blew a 7 game lead in September make no mistake about it though, if the Tigers miss the playoffs he'll be fired too
  3. the good news is that tommy john surgeries usually have a good success rate and we'll get him back to full strength by the beginning of '10
  4. his numbers have been supressed as he's had to recover from losing his fingernail and was unable to throw his curveball for awhile. it seems he's close to returning to form, and is possibly the best buy low candidate there is. #1 on my wish list
  5. Seriously, Nolan Ryan not in the HOF? Also, Perry, Bench, and Jackson. I gotta go with Eck and Sutter. and another player not yet mentioned who's the greatest player at his position in the history of the game
  6. his .378/.451/.459 line with runners on is pretty lackluster
  7. theres some names on that list i couldnt imagine anybody ever questioning their status
  8. -18 vorp time to call up all the AAA guys
  9. LOL at Kobe's flail
  10. this game just got more interesting
  11. and he puts his bat down more softly than any other player in history
  12. what a stupid overreaction It's a reaction to his entire body of work throughout a professional career. oh ok then its understandable youre just thinking of a different Patterson
  13. the only pitchers in the majors who are going to be walking a guy who couldn't slug .400 in AAA are crappy pitchers we'll crush anyways. i'm sure there's teams out there who are dying for the services of a defensive liability in LF who can't hit for extra bases.
  14. #2 & 3 are probably Rangers too
  15. oh, he's been a lot better. Bradley is unquestionably the most unheralded player in the game right now.
  16. Carpenter had pretty crappy command at Gallagher's age too
  17. isn't that all the more reason to hang onto Felix, Gallagher, etc., so that our future isn't completely bleak? regardless, I'd probably rather just rest the hell out of Dempster and Marmol and take my changes with Z, Dempster and Lilly/Hill/Gallagher for 5-6 innings in the playoffs, leaning more on the strong bullpen and offense. it may be a bit risky, but so is mortgaging any semblance of future for such an uncertainty. last year's playoff showing for CC doesn't exactly inspire confidence, either. i'd love Harden, however.
  18. his control last night was almost Ankiel bad that guys in need of a lot of fixing
  19. good for them they should enjoy delusions of contention while they still can
  20. and how does their success with Rolen, Edmonds playing at near MVP levels and Carpenter pre-TJS have any bearing on the present? if this was any other team, people could objectively realize that they're playing over their heads but the inferiority complex so prevalent precludes people from recognizing this.
  21. man this board has a hell of a lot of disgusting Cardinals hyperbole and general penis envy i'm getting nauseus and illiniguy hasnt even made an appearance yet
  22. the real shame of this is when they crash and burn people will assume it's because they lost Wainwright when it was inevitable regardless
