  1. Riley Reiff might be our best run blocker, but he needs a little refinement in pass protection; he's not seeing the field yet in a starting capacity because Backus and Cherilus have been great at keeping Stafford clean, but i'm bullish on Reiff going forward
  2. as luck would have it, dew's kid's JV team actually needs a coach
  3. ...huh? while on the topic- our secondary yesterday: Drayton Florence, Ricardo Silva, Don Carey, Jacob Lacey; it took a superhuman display from Suh to mostly keep Luck in check for 3-1/2 quarters yeah, we could really use some better depth back there
  4. no, it was so crushing to my realistic playoff hopes that i still haven't fully recovered from the bitter anguish of it all
  5. should be pretty fun watching Taylor Lewan vs. JaDeveon Clowney, and if Lewan does get abused, maybe we'll get to keep him another year!
  6. i get to watch things like this every week http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/1874zfb6x06o9gif/original.gif
  7. i love that one simple 3-year deal proves a team's serious about winning; hell, if we give Michael Bourn the 7/120 he's asking for, then we'll be the super-duper-seriousest about winning (well, besides LA)
  8. not singling you out, but this makes me nuts, HOF comparisons for prospects with a bunch of qualifiers when there are much more reasonable players to compare them to "Beltran with 20/20 instead of 30/30 potential, but a better hit tool"; you're basically just describing Johnny Damon there Sheffield with more K's describes...every other power hitter that doesn't average a superhuman 60 strikeouts a season? he had 39 HR and 55 K in a season once!
  9. yeah, i have to think his draft stock took a little bit of a tumble Saturday
  10. Andrew Luck's pretty awesome and like that, my dreams of Dee Milliner stay alive
  11. i so hope this Rams-49ers game ends in a tie too
  12. that was a pretty vicious hit with malicious intent
  13. that, and McCarron making about as bad a read you'll ever see a big name QB make; this guy was supposed to get a trip to NYC?
  14. unconfirmed, but KC radio saying it's LB Jovan Belcher
  15. http://cdn3.blogs.babble.com/strollerderby/files/2012/11/MontyBurns.jpg
  16. Ypg is a weird stat to use given the disparity in opponents. What were the relative strengths of the offenses Mattison and Robinson faced? How many great offenses did UM face this year? And in your world, the DC doesn't have a role in bringing in players, only coaching the ones that somehow land on campus? Other than Manti, the 5-stars Diaco has are there bc he brought them there. He was critical in landing and keeping Tuitt. It was his coffee and donuts at 5am that kept Williams from visiting PSU and locked him up. He secured Day. As for players, Diaco's backfield consists of a junior WR, a true freshman RB, a true sophomore safety who has played football for fewer than 5 years and Zeke Motta. best recruiter is a whole other argument, but Mattison was the guy who recruited Tebow to UF and is considered amongst the best i'll just say this- i think if you were restrained in a Clockwork Orange setup and forced to watch our '09 and '10 defenses, you'd probably have little argument about his status as a miracle worker we made Dayne Crist look like a program savior! our cornerbacks covered like this! http://mgoblog.com/sites/mgoblog.com/files/UponFurtherReview2010DefenseVsPennState_AB86/death6.2.jpg
  17. yeah, i was going to say Tejada or Adrian Beltre upside for Baez, and #1 in the system worst-case scenario: Khalil Greene
  18. What does Bob Diaco have to do with this? 2010 (Robinson): 393 YPG 2010 (Robinson): 448 YPG 2011 (Mattison): 317 YPG 2012 (Mattison): 311 YPG that's without really adding any high-impact freshmen, and using a [expletive] walk-on at safety; Diaco has a future top-5 pick to work with and other five-star recruits
  19. i feel like if all goes well, Almora becomes Randy Winn and Soler becomes Brian Jordan i prefer Soler
  20. PFF argues even Russell Wilson has been better than Luck https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/11/27/race-for-rookie-of-the-year-week-12/
  21. yeah, Colin Wyers confirmed that (in the comments) he also mentioned Safeco has been very favorable for Mariners OFs Lichtman: BUT YOU TOOK THOSE AWAY FROM ME
  22. he's a guy i've always really liked and would have liked to sign, but a lingering doubt is when i remember looking at Crawfords H/R defensive splits and seeing how vast the disparity was there fangraphs took away that functionality since then for whatever reason, so i can't verify if that held true for Upton as well, but i think it's fair to assume his numbers were aided in some way by the fast track at the Trop
  23. Ok, well you and Jersey were arguing about individual Cutler games...that's what brought up the advanced stats. Sure there was some advanced stats discussion, but then you brought up Cutler specifically not being in that top 51 article. I'm not sure why you mentioned that if you weren't still on the MVP discussion. it was just a more general purpose comment speaking to his individual performance, since jersey was saying (loosely paraphrasing with exaggerated effect) stats aren't to be trusted in football; if i had access to their stats/ratings, anything more definitive than "not top-51", i'd have shared it for the sake of discussion but whatever, Charles Tillman for MVP, i'll gladly read an article about that
