  7. Yes, it sucks to have 22 year olds that put up a .859 OPS in AAA. you very easily looked past the 22 year old Brett Jackson that put up a .939 OPS in AAA, presumably because you approached his situation with a little more objectivity
  8. Vitters cracking the top-10 would make me way too sad about the state of our system, so Johnson obviously
  9. no Urlacher, Melton, Jennings...yeah, i'm starting StL D today
  10. explain. Players don't want to go to a terrible team for market value. i meant how we "tried to turn the 2011 Cubs into the 2003 Tigers"
  11. I can be mad at them for not putting on a team on the field that makes them appealing to free agents for reasons other than "We're the only place you can get a starting job." Yes, because turning the 2011 Cubs into the 2012 Tigers by 2013 would have been a realistic expectation. By your logic, they shouldn't be able to sign anyone ever again. I think potential FAs problem is they tried to turn the 2011 Cubs into the 2003 Tigers. explain.
  12. my mistake, i meant to say he was #5 all of those, but all the skills that made him a top-100 prospect are still there
  13. 8) Christian Villanueva (was my #4) 9) Dillon Maples 10) Ronald Torreyes
  14. best of all, Buster Olney viewtopic.php?f=6&t=60927&p=2817036#p2817036
  15. Brandon Phillips was sub-replacement in his first 464 PA before being sent to the Reds he's averaged 4 wins for 7 seasons since
  16. Assuming a substantial advantage in baserunning in comparison to Rizzo then, as he's got the advantage in AVG/OBP/SLG and defensive runs saved according to those projections. it's assuming no baserunning advantage- there's a full 2-win positional adjustment separating 1B and CF (per 700 PA) the differences in offense (.345 wOBA vs. .326 wOBA) covers just a little bit more than 1 win of that gap; it's an obvious thing to say, but 1B demands a lot of offense
  17. Everyone who is not a pitcher. that's pretty lazy and largely unsupportable, talking about a guy who seemingly hasn't missed a start his entire career yes, i'm sure the list of "everyone who is not a pitcher" that hasn't missed a game in 6+ years is very long
  18. he'd have the highest WAR amongst hitters, on a rate basis but obviously others would receive more playing time and post higher overall totals
  19. Probably Rays. Six years of sweet pre-FA control on Myers vs. two years of Shields. Myers has some warts, but Shields has some too pitching outside of Tampa and that defense, plus he's a pitcher and all pitchers risky bets. I don't think they'll get what they hope to get out of Wade Davis, either. i have a hard time thinking of a much safer bet (for health) than a guy who throws breaking balls on only 15% of his pitches
  20. Schaub, Moreno, Hilton playoffs start, so this is where i start to overthink everything Chi D vs. GB StL D vs. MIN am i crazy to even be considering StL D here?
  21. I'd be thrilled to get that from Jackson next year. Jackson would be our most productive position player if all those projections held true but it'd also mean we'd have no chance of seriously competing for a pretty long time, if everybody else's development stagnated like that
