  1. Gruden was being a total idiot about that last night; Jerry Rice had 9 other pro bowlers on that team! Calvin's been double- & triple-teamed the majority of offensive snaps this year, with teams playing their two safeties exaggeratedly deep much of the year to shut down the deep ball. on the goal line, he's attracted so much attention that we've had an easy time opting to run it in with LeShoure and Stafford, despite our usually terrible run blocking i think this picture about sums it up
  2. i think this is the first time all three of my choices have been tops in voting
  3. so much for the Madden Curse
  4. Side question: Why has Adam Eaton not been considered a top 100 prospect? he's 5'8
  5. let's just trade for Adam Eaton
  6. i love this deal for them, and i'd have preferred it to the Feldman or Villanueva signings for us
  7. Swisher's moderately interesting, if for no other reason than we didn't have a single player top a .355 obp last year
  8. Delmon Young hits lefties well, but sucks so bad at every single other aspect of the game you could possibly ever think of
  9. Yeah, shame it was his last start of the year though. All in all, he struck out more than a batter an inning and (more importantly) got the walks down to just a bit better than league average. He's looking like a potential #2 for next year. Maybe better, if you discount the poor month he had this year while trying to learn to throw a curve. Take out June (his curve month) and he was at a 2.795 ERA for the year. fun facts! -take out his June and he had a 3.05 xFIP! (league-leading xFIP was Cliff Lee, with 3.06) -in his non-June starts, he also totaled 3.4 fWAR in 23 starts- full season pace: 5 WAR, which would have placed him 8th in baseball, just one run shy of Zach Greinke and David Price -his (4th-best in MLB) K/9 this year was better than: Justin Verlander, Clayton Kershaw, Felix Hernandez, Cole Hamels -he's just 27! -he still has 3 years of team control while i'm not guaranteeing he'll establish himself as a bona fide ace, the possibility of that happening seems real enough that i'm really unwilling to trade him unless it's an offer so absurd it would give Dayton Moore pause
  10. ESPN Stats & Info ‏@ESPNStatsInfo Edwin Jackson had highest "miss rate" on his slider of any pitcher who qualified for ERA title. Hitters missed on 49% of swings vs the pitch
  11. we're paying E. Jackson, Baker, Villanueva, Feldman just $5M more this year than Greinke's AAV
  12. Ellsbury's 162G average is 16 HR (Bourn's is 4) GIMME TACOBY
  13. Mark Shapiro thinks he's worth much, much more! http://www.obstructedview.net/aside/mark-shapiro-one-win-in-free-agency-is-9-million.html
  14. i like Liriano better, but not enough to majorly grouse about this
  15. i get a szczure whenever i look at it
  16. had my worst week of the season last week, having to fill in Freeman for RGIII and Demaryius Thomas turned into Hollow Man most points on the year, and i can't even muster 50 in week one of the playoffs...[expletive]
  17. updated draft order http://www.sbnation.com/nfl-mock-draft/2012/12/18/3779446/current-2013-nfl-draft-order 1. Kansas City Chiefs - 2-12 (.469 SOS) 2. Jacksonville Jaguars - 2-12 (.541 SOS) 3. Oakland Raiders - 4-10 (.469 SOS) 4. Philadelphia Eagles - 4-10 (.505 SOS) 5. Detroit Lions - 4-10 (.546 SOS) 6. San Diego Chargers - 5-9 (.474 SOS) 7. Cleveland Browns - 5-9 (.480 SOS) 8. 21. Yes, it sucks to have 22 year olds that put up a .859 OPS in AAA. you very easily looked past the 22 year old Brett Jackson that put up a .939 OPS in AAA, presumably because you approached his situation with a little more objectivity
  22. Vitters cracking the top-10 would make me way too sad about the state of our system, so Johnson obviously
  23. no Urlacher, Melton, Jennings...yeah, i'm starting StL D today
