    since my favorite thing to look at is always 650 PA paces... Marco: 85 R, 34 2B, 9 3B, 7 HR, 76 RBI, 27 SB, 38:88 (.284/.326/.404) Amaya: 103 R, 20 2B, 18 3B, 7 HR, 77 RBI, 36 SB, 58:107 (.316/.389/.455) Marco Hernandez looks like he could be Orlando Cabrera if all goes well, albeit with a slightly less superlative glove; that adds up to average-ish type starter upside i could almost see Amaya being Ray Durham in a perfect, just world where the heavens shine down brightly on the Cubs i voted Amaya

    i can't really complain much about the offensive gameplan we had, which worked well, but- i still can't believe for even one play we actually had a walk-on TE matched up with Clowney and i wanted to like those jerseys, but that highlighter yellow was near impossible to read most of the time; nobody could figure out who was in on any of the plays! step up your game, adidas

    he may have a lower Rebound Rate than Kwame Brown, and he may enjoy a good cry, but he's certainly not soft!

    Kyle, the point isn't that the second rounder is likely to be a world beater. That doesn't mean at all though, that it couldn't be a major piece in a trade at some point. Hell, within a year of being drafted, before the guy even shows off his warts. It's not nearly as simple as just looking at stats in the majors. The second rounder that fails can still be a very valuable asset, before he fails. Examples? Josh Donaldson just looking at the '10 draft at random...Jedd Gyorko, Yordy Cabrera (helped A's get Chris Young), Drew Smyly, Andrelton Simmons, Cody Buckel, Justin Nicolino (helped Blue Jays get crazy haul from Marlins) were all taken in the 2nd round and are very valuable (or super-elite) trade chips right now, even if they never achieve their full potential

    Gruden was being a total idiot about that last night; Jerry Rice had 9 other pro bowlers on that team! Calvin's been double- & triple-teamed the majority of offensive snaps this year, with teams playing their two safeties exaggeratedly deep much of the year to shut down the deep ball. on the goal line, he's attracted so much attention that we've had an easy time opting to run it in with LeShoure and Stafford, despite our usually terrible run blocking i think this picture about sums it up

    Swisher's moderately interesting, if for no other reason than we didn't have a single player top a .355 obp last year

    Delmon Young hits lefties well, but sucks so bad at every single other aspect of the game you could possibly ever think of

    Yeah, shame it was his last start of the year though. All in all, he struck out more than a batter an inning and (more importantly) got the walks down to just a bit better than league average. He's looking like a potential #2 for next year. Maybe better, if you discount the poor month he had this year while trying to learn to throw a curve. Take out June (his curve month) and he was at a 2.795 ERA for the year. fun facts! -take out his June and he had a 3.05 xFIP! (league-leading xFIP was Cliff Lee, with 3.06) -in his non-June starts, he also totaled 3.4 fWAR in 23 starts- full season pace: 5 WAR, which would have placed him 8th in baseball, just one run shy of Zach Greinke and David Price -his (4th-best in MLB) K/9 this year was better than: Justin Verlander, Clayton Kershaw, Felix Hernandez, Cole Hamels -he's just 27! -he still has 3 years of team control while i'm not guaranteeing he'll establish himself as a bona fide ace, the possibility of that happening seems real enough that i'm really unwilling to trade him unless it's an offer so absurd it would give Dayton Moore pause
