  1. His commentary on the replay of the Castro homer last night was great. Castro: McCarver: "Wacha doesn't even turn to look at the home run." Wacha: He also said Rizzo had had testicular cancer. It was Hodgkin's lymphoma, right?
  2. wondering how Joe plans to work Neil Ramirez back in. Would be amazing to add 2014 Ramirez to the BP
  3. Lou had that weird thing with Michael Wuertz though, remember that? He "disappeared" an effective (not great or dominant but effective, IIR) reliever and no one ever knew why.
  4. If you are counting the Hamels no hitter, he didn't play that game. I was, I thought he was off the DL by then and played that weekend. I was on vacation so didn't watch that game so I guess my facts are off.
  5. so Utley has played in 3 no hitters this year, right? I wonder if that has happened before
  6. What is really kind of cool is Mad Bum has hit 5 dongs, most by a pitcher since Big Z, in like '08.
  7. Just wanted to confirm that with numbers ERA: MB: 3.02 JA: 2.22 FIP: MB: 2.85 JA: 2.58 K/9: MB: 9.5 JA: 9.2 WHIP: MB: 1.04 JA: 0.98 WAR: MB: 3.1 JA: 5.5 Fairly similar but looks like Jake has been significantly more valuable Why the big bump for Jake in WAR? Numbers are pretty similar otherwise
  8. Mad Bum and Arrieta have very similar numbers this year. What really strikes me is how crazy affordable Mad Bum is, from FanGraphs: ◦2013: $0.8M, 2014: $3.8M, 2015: $6.8M, 2016: $9.8M, 2017: $11.5M ◦2018 Team Option: $12M ($1.5M buyout) ◾2018 option becomes guaranteed with 200 IP in 2017 or 400 IP in 2016-17. Options increase to $14M with top 3 finish in Cy Young vote 2012-17 or to $16M with Cy Young award 2012-17 ◦2019 Team Option: $12M ($1.5M buyout)
  9. Cleveland had opportunity to hit dongs like that too but chose not to.
  10. Irritating that opposing fans can fill up Wrigley. It sounds like there are a TON of Tigers fans there. WTH?
  11. Vietnam devalued the dong today. Not sure what this means for the Cubs today, just pointing it out.
  12. why am I getting ads for gay cruises? and no, it's not my browsing history. could it be driven by the surge in the use of the word "dong" here? Speaking in all seriousness. have never seen this before today.
  13. wondering about the offense: Schwarber DH and Castro at 2B??
  14. Jhonny F. PEDralta. Just wanted to vent. Thanks.
  15. Not sure which is worse -- St. Louis has a Kolten Wong, or that Mike Shannon pronounces it "Coatin' Waong"
  16. Denorfia has been great, just what you need from a 4th OF and pinch hitter.
  17. Didn't Sutter get hurt though? He was insane that year, just absolutely filthy, then he got hurt and they tanked.
  18. There were actually a few places claiming Moran was the best bat in the draft. Moran pretty much crashed and burned, didn't he? Isn't he like already with his second org now?
  19. LOL, 85 pitches through 2 1/3, Serious? Edit 86 through 3 but still, amazing
  20. that was remarkably candid, really threw me for a loop
  21. Did anyone see that note in the Sun Times today quoting Hoyer as saying a Cubs-Mets deal would be a good fit and likely happen at some point, or something like that? it stuck me as way out of character. Did I read that wrong?
  22. Wonder why Maddon didn't double switch there. Wouldn't it have made sense to put Welly in for Miggy, batting in Hendricks spot?
  23. Does anyone else find Mike Shannon annoying? I cannot decide who I despise more, him or Marty Brennaman
