  2. Here's one of the new signs. http://www.ksdk.com/assetpool/images/07314173336_500signs.jpg
  3. I'm starting to think LaRussa and Duncan could take a random bum sleeping on the street and at bare minimum, turn them into a decent middle reliever. God do I hate the Cardinals (BTW: a coworker in the St. Louis branch of my company says the Cardinals are spending a couple of million dollars to further upgrade Busch stadium. More escalators, even larger scoreboard, more bathrooms, larger pressbox and more decorations. Plus they'll have signs plastered all over saying "World Series Champs") *sigh*
  4. It looks like the Cubs will have to move a game currently scheduled for night to an afternoon start as part of the deal. isn't the bolded part exactly why the Police broke up in the first place? Basicly, yes. I read Stings autobiography and the split from concerts and royalties was 50% Sting, Andy Summers 25% and Stuart Copeland 25%. This tour is being split evenly between the three. Also no solo songs on this tour: Police songs only.
  5. I wonder if he'll open a Chicago location around Halstead and Addison? They're opening Bar Louie's in St. Louis and I'm sure they'll want to return the favor.
  6. No hard copy, but I found this when trolling around some Cardinal forums. http://www.kfns.com/vdVirtual/Interviews/Interview-2-699.mp3 I'm torn as to whether I should visit it next road trip to St. Louis. I'm sure this will be a must visit for NSBB members.
  7. Matt Giordano mmmm Giordanos Pizza mmmmmm
  8. Don Beebe? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Beebe
  9. Somewhere around that. My friends and I figured three factors: 1) more snowbirds from Chicago are in South Florida. 2) more people with money in Chicago who can afford to make the trip and pay for tickets / hotels / parties. 3) more big companies have locations / headquarters in Chicago. A fair amount of Super Bowl tickets are corporate seats.
  10. I figured Barroid would end up in the AL where he could comfortably get the record. But now he could be hitting behind Pujols. http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/sports/16184208.htm
  11. Tried to isolate myself from the outside world last night. Did something I hadn't done in 20+ years and went and saw two movies back to back ("Flags of Fathers" and "Death of Pres"). Left my cell phone at home and made sure my mp3 player was plugged into my car. Didn't find out until around noon today what had happened. Though I think I felt a disturbance in the Force around 10:30pm last night. Like a billion souls all crying out at once.
  12. This Cardinals team is worse than the Cubs '03 team. I'm still having trouble conceiving that they made it this far. Damn Mets. A lot of teams are worse than the '03 Cubs, and a lot are better than this Cardinals team. That's just one of the many logs heaped onto the Being a Cubs Fan Sucks fire. I want to be as far away from Wrigley (and Chicago) as possible when the smug Cards fans come to town next season.

  14. Sounds like a financing deal has been reached. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/stories.nsf/stlouiscitycounty/story/62BEFFF84431611986257214001427D1?OpenDocument
  15. Not if they're smart they didn't. He should be a starter. Suppan is in his contract year and he'll want big money. The cards will have to let him walk.
  16. or the Cubs pull during the regular season.
  17. That's why he wears sunglasses at night games. I thought he was copying poker players and wore the dark glasses so opposing players couldn't read/see his eyes?
  18. Your eyebrows tend to get weird after 60. My sister wouldn't let me dad be in her wedding until he went to a spa and got his eyebrows cleaned up.
  19. I just wonder if the Tigers were managed by anyone other than Jim Leyland if Larussa wouldn't have raised a bigger stink? If that was Dusty in the other dugout I'm sure Larussa would have been out there in a heartbeat. I don't think someone as intense and baseball savvy as LaRussa would put friendship above winning a World Series. I just think he realized arguing would not have accomplished much (especially after Rogers hand was cleaned) and didn't want to come off as a whiner. The fact remains, Rogers pitched 7 of 8 innings with a "clean" hand. True. I just remember sitting in the box seats of that Cubs/Cards series a couple of years ago where Dusty and Larussa got into it. At one point they were yelling at each other from the dugouts. I couldn't hear everything but the eff bomb did slip a couple of times.

  21. He is great. . . . . as long as he gets to pitch vs the Mets career 4-1 1.85 ERA And he has actually been pretty good since joining the Cardinals in 2004 posting a 44-26 record and 3.95 ERA. 15 innings pitched. One earned run and three hits (I think). Plus he hit a home run in game 3. Yes; that sucks. I would never want to see a Cub pitcher do that.
  22. Slightly off topic. I notice that people at Shea are drinking those 16oz aluminum Bud/Bud Light bottles. I've been to arena/stadiums that allow those cruddy plastic bottles of beer but never the aluminum bottles. Is there any other place that sells them?
  23. What's Rolen's contract status? Weren't there rumors of A.Rod coming to the Cubs and Rolen replacing him in New York? Didn't the same stuff happen with him in Philly?
  24. I doubt that with the ball being on that side of the infield.
  25. Are you always this pleasant? I can be quite pleasant, having a reasonable and rational discussion with those posters actually wanting to have a discussion. You're claiming you can be reasonable and rational, but I'm seeing four personal attacks right there from you.
