  1. From todays (5/11/06) main page of cnn.com: http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Music/05/11/obit.soraya.ap/index.html Just another example of why this isn't a laughing matter.
  2. If there's an easy link to tell whether something is in HD or not, please post it. There's a few websites. I'll track a few down and post the link(s).
  3. Thanks to whomever it was that decided to start putting the XM channel in the thread subject header. One other suggestion: a "HD" indicator when the game is available in high-def. Just a thought...
  4. I also love them. However I didn't want to send this thread too far off topic so I jumped to the "your momma is an astronaut" statement which ends all "your momma" arguments.
  5. Can someone explain the boiled peanuts I see in the deep south? I saw them at most the convenience stores when goign down to JazzFest in New Orleans. Is that so you eat them whole?
  6. Thanks to whomever it was that decided to start putting the XM channel in the subject header.
  7. Derrek Lee will be wearing a pink cast for the occasion. :( Dusty will be chewing pink toothpicks. Will he wear pink wrist sweatbands?
  8. Pujols is not very clutch. Don't tell that to Lidge down in Houston. I've met Brad Lidge. He's a nice guy. Too nice. I could take him in a fight. My dad can beat up your dad. Oh yeah? My mom can beat up your dad. Yeah, well your momma's an astronaut.
  9. Well if a team does that, it seems to me they probably start to look better on "paper" (whatever that means). I think that means that the Cardinals don't have a lot of big name guys that jump out and grab you. I don't get that. We have 4 all-stars in our everyday lineup (whether deservedly so or not - Edmonds/Eckstein last year), the reigning Cy Young winner, the pitcher with the most wins in baseball since 2001, the two time executive or the year, the second or third winningest manager of all time, and a guy playing first base who has a chance if he stays healthy and stays consistent to break every major offensive record other than stolen bases and hits. Maybe it is a case of them not getting ESPN love or people underrating them, but I don't see how they aren't good "on paper." I love ESPNs East Coast bias. I don't know why they just don't start every SportsCenter with Yankees/Mets/Sox highlights.

  12. He got a ground rule double in the third but then struck out with two on and two out in the 4th. (Listening to the game on XM. $%@#%$# is Mike Shannon painful to listen to.)
  13. I think every MLB team, from the Yankees down to the Royals, is getting this $14-16 million dollar gift. I've seen other forums where people are being paranoid about the team pocketing the money and not putting it back in payroll. All this means that the market for pitchers will get even more stupid. Any starting pitcher thats had at least one .500 season will be getting big jack.
  14. Give it a rest already. You are wrong and crossing the line. Darryl Kile's death was attributed to natural causes, and there was also a family history of similar problems. No wonder there are so few rival fans that post here (with the exception of Is Pedro There). I’m starting to wonder why some people’s hatred of the Cardinals runs so deep. It’s amazing to me that someone thinks that Darrly Kile deserved to die because he smoked a little chiba and wore a Cardinal uniform. If Kile was a Cub when he died, imagine how different your tone would be. CubbieRich would probably be calling for a Kile statue to be put next to Harry’s in front of Wrigley. Or that raging gay jokes are okay because Jim Edmonds might play both sides of the plate. The only person’s sexuality I care about is my own and my girlfriend’s. Obsessing about someone else’s only shows your own insecurities. If Edmonds was a Cub, there would be a lot fewer oral sex jokes flying around. Or how this thread about Pujols flipping the bat is like 12 or 13 pages long. Let’s face the fact that Sammy double hopping out of the batters box was just as hot dog. I’m not a fan of either acts.
  15. Good post except for most of number 3. The elitism of some Cubs fans and northside residents can sometimes be disheartening.
  16. Did anyone see that Atlanta Braves manager/complainer Bobby Cox was tossed out of the Braves/Mets game arguing a home plate call? I wasn't totally suprised to see what it was already his third ejection this season. There was also no shock factor when I found out the home plate umpire was the much beloved Angel Hernendez. What a bunch of clowns.
  17. Cox was actually thrown out by the 2nd base umpire. Lo Duca was thrown out by Angel. And he made a terrible call. But it was on the same play. It was a very weird play. I knew it was on the same play, but didn't know Angel wasn't the one who tossed Bobby.
  18. Oops. Thought I started a new thread about this.
  19. That must be Maxims' first list that doesn't involve hot chicks. Does Dusty have any hot relatives?
  20. My reaction to the thread title was "sucking on what?" ...nice to see the homophobia continues to be alive and well on NSBB.com.
  21. Yes, your thread subject line is "stadium question". You're not stupid, but Jeff Gordon is. (not a NASCAR fan)
  22. What's Jeff Gordon doing posting on the forum under the alias ShawonOmeter12? Which stadium are we talking about? I know in Chicago there's Wrigley Field, Soldier Field, the United Center, U.S. Cellular Field, Ryan Field and AllState Arena. But there's no stadium in Chicago. (at least for the last ten or eleven years) Edited by moderator--it is against NSBB policy to post entire copyrighted article.
  23. It's like that Seinfeld episode where Elaine is walking in the park feeling bad because a guy dumped her because she has a big head. All of a sudden a bird flies into her head and falls to the ground, stunned. An old man nearby says something along the lines "..that bird flew right into your head. It's like it couldn't avoid it."
  24. They don't need to worry about restrooms being done. Most of downtown St Louis is already covered with human waste, the new Busch may as well be. IMHO St. Louis has about as many homeless per block as Chicago. You want to talk bad? San Francisco, Atlanta and Portland Oregon. I'm not referring to homeless. St Louis is by far the dirtiest and ugliest "city" (downtown area) I have ever been to. And I've been to my fair share of them. Sorry, misunderstood you. You want bad though...just got back from New Orleans Jazz Fest this last weekend: friggin disaster zone outside French Quarter and Garden District. Sad, very sad. Sprintsteen and DMB were great though.
  25. Based upon my trip last Cubs/Cards series, everything remaining is down in the left field corner and outfield. They don't need to worry about restrooms being done. Most of downtown St Louis is already covered with human waste, the new Busch may as well be. IMHO St. Louis has about as many homeless per block as Chicago. You want to talk bad? San Francisco, Atlanta and Portland Oregon.
