  1. Could shower or storm tomorrow, and could shower on Thursday. Likely not enough for a rain out, though. So, it looks like ARam's improvement is the only good news. And, I suppose, nobody has died yet. That might not be all good news.
  2. My observations from last night was. Jones is hiting much better Am Ram is the king of solo home runs. He GIDP twice before the Solo shot. Dusty actually got Marshall out of the game to preserve some confidence he might have left only down 4 in the 4th. Cedano swings at the first pitch every time if it's even near the back stop. The Cubs look like they all have the Corey Patterson plague. They don't look confortable at all and don't look like they have a plan. During the White Sox game Hawk Harrelson was commenting on how you plan for a pitcher each game. If he is young and has control problems then you take a few and make him throw strikes. The Cubs coaching staff is teaching something other then that apporach from what I can see. I believe they teach swinging at certain zones. If the ball looks like it's in your 'zone' then you swing. It's the totally wrong apporach. But work for players like Barry Bond and Jeff Kent (ala, vereran player that have aunderstanding of baseball.) No wonder why the younger players struggle under the current make-up of the Cubs. The coaching staff coaches thinking the players have more basebal knowledge then they actually do. Holy crap, are you finally starting to see the light?
  3. Any thoughts on Dusty re-signing? I've always been of the opinion that Hendry was looking for the right time to extend Dusty. As of now, I don't know when that time would come. See, this is embarrassing. Rather than take the extra few weeks that the Cubs have been playing like crap as a hint to reevaluate the team and the possibility of signing Baker, Hendry just puts it off until the Cubs string together a few good games. Then, he can give Baker his extension and blame the losses on injuries. This is why I say they won't get it until people stop going to games. The problems are the same every year, and instead of changing the two most important positions within the organization - GM and manager - they give out extensions. If I did my job as poorly as Hendry and Baker have done their jobs, I'd be scanning the classified section right now. There's no punishment for failure within this organization, and no accountability. The whole thing is one sad joke. Um, you're a meteorologist. Isn't coming close the main goal in your profession? :P
  4. I wouldn't say plate discipline is his major problem right now. The K's are a bit high, but his OBP is 100 points higher than his AVG (244/344).
  5. Bruce, could you drop a bug in someone's ear within the organization to stop by the site sometime to get the feelings from the fans? Preferably Mr. Hendry. Boy, a Q&A would be fun with him.
  6. Link? For Kwel People http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=31828 For Cheapskates viewtopic.php?t=31828 Awesome, thanks!
  7. Sheesh, why don't you marry him?
  8. a la the Darryl chants: "Glass Jaw" "Glass Jaw" "Glass Jaw" You could probably get an entire section started pretty easily. It would spread like wildfire.
  9. If Pujols is dirty then DLee is the same. Where did DLee's numbers jump come from? Sunshine, rainbows, and puppy dogs.
  10. No-brainer. Heroin addictions are nothing compared to this crap.
  11. Great...we'll end up getting help at the one spot in the line up that is actually starting to hit alright. From a guy who can't hit.
  12. Rich Hill is fantastic at Iowa. We have a lot of guys who are good in the minors. Well, I wouldn't say "a lot".
  13. Out of spite against whom? Cubs fans? Yeah that doesn't make much sense. They'll entend Dusty. Makes more sense than saying the only move is to extend Baker and that things are improving. But so does "the sky is elephant".
  14. If Maddux could net Abreu, do it now. Alas, I don't see how the Phillies would go for that.

  16. I love how Hawk Harrelson mysteriously disappears for innings at a time, bu then Darrin Jackson is left to fend for himself. You know the scene in Wayne's World when Rob Lowe's character fires Wayne mid-show for the "He blows goats, I have proof" card, so Garth has to do the show himself? Yeah, that's DJ during a Hawk Vanish. "We have a good game.......not...." And still, I prefer that.
  17. Oh, it'll be quite a bit more than 100.
  18. I didn't catch Pete, but I just started with Bruce's article (goony's link). "It boils down to knocking them in," MacPhail said. Hey, Andy, how 'bout getting them on first? Then we can worry about knocking them in.
  19. Murton in the 8 spot? I don't understand, what happened to him being our 2 hitter? Murton isn't a 2 hitter. Cedeno is much better suited at the 2 hole. Why, OBP too good?
