  1. I want to change my vote to 35.
  2. He's number 1! He's number 1! He's number 1!
  3. Florida will not want to take any big salaries back, and that's exactly what Zambrano will be sooner rather than later. The right package will make 99% of all players available in a hurry, there's no reason for Jim to sit back and wait for the Marlins to shop him. His pricetag goes up with the number of serious players. Be proactive and give Larry a deal that he can't refuse.
  4. I was going to say he rocks more, but they suck really bad right now.
  5. Ouch! The biggest reason I have missed so many games this year is because of work, but I can only remember 4 times where I have been home while they played and I actually watched them (out of maybe 12-15). Only once did I watch the entire game. i bet they lost all 4 Shockingly, they actually won 1 of them (250 winning %, right in line with the last month).

  7. I've found that to be true of all Cardinals fans.
  8. [really bad joke] How about Ugg? [/really bad joke]
  9. And to pour a little fuel on your fire, remember that Womack is actually better than Neifi. Yes, the Neifi that we're stuck with for 2 years.
  10. Why stop there? Why not ARod at SS too  Of all the realistic scenarios for 2007 I like goony's OF of Lee, Pie and Jones / Murton. I just don't see Hendry moving JJ at all, for the reasons goony states. Trading for Abreu or Miggy would be nice, but so would peace on earth. Cubs are not exactly dealing from a position of strength. They have plenty to give up to make the deal for Miggy. Other teams have higher ranked prospects, but most of them have no interest in trading their higher ranked guys. Gallagher, Guzman, Murton and Pie could probably get you Miggy. Send Pierre back there and pay his salary, move Jones over the center and call-up whoever the heck you want to play the other corner OF spot. Done. I'd do that trade in a second. Would Florida? I think the Angels could easily beat that package, don't you think? With their disappointing season it seems (I'm only speculating) they should be more incented to trade high prospects for a proven stud. I don't see why Florida would not want a deal like that. That's a nice mix of quantity and quality. The problem is in not being proactive. We should not give teams like the Angels the chance to put together a better package.
  11. Yeah, but with all the HBP he would have an OBP that would put Bonds to shame. And never score a run with this pathetic excuse for a lineup.
  12. Yes (to the 2nd question). I tried answering your first, but I puked in the process.
  13. 10 is sending a message, and I really don't have a problem with it. The appeal will probably get it down to 7, which means even less offense for a week. Woo hoo!
  14. They're supposed to be announced today.
  15. If I were GM, I would find a way to get Abreu in RF and Cabrera in LF by June 1. If Lee comes back at 100% and Rammy pulls his head out, that's the making of a team that can make a legitimate run. Even if they come up short, think of the lineup next year. No way they end up in a hole like this.
  16. I just saw Jose a couple of months ago. Huge physical specimen and is in really good shape. However, I think he's proven that he can no longer hit a ball. That and he has no idea what to do with a glove. I'll pass.
  17. NO, they don't November 25, 2003: Derrek Lee traded by the Florida Marlins to the Chicago Cubs for Hee Seop Choi and Mike Nannini (minors). Sure, we got them once. They've gotten us twice. Yes, Florida owes us one. Let's start with that kid they have at 3B.
  18. I think Murton would look good in a Marlins uniform with that one guy coming here. Oh, what the heck is that kid's name? The one who wears #24 for them.
  19. Seattle Mariner Griffey is one of my all-time favorite players. I don't know who Cincinnati Red Griffey is, but I don't have a problem with his comments.
  20.   http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/story.asp?id=193151 Oh snap! Kudos, Bruce! Hammer the point home.
  21. Well, one difference is that Cuban has expressed interest in owning a baseball team. I'm sure if Buss or Kraft expressed interest then a lot of Cub fans would clamor for them. More specifically, Cuban has expressed interest in owning the Cubs.
  22. My fear is this: Von Joshua is by all accounts a great hitting coach. If he takes over for Clines and the team continues to tank, he could also get canned. That said, a promotion and given a legitimate shot to succeed is something I definitely want to see from him. Then call up Pie and give him to Von.
  23. Tango, Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. I was curious what you thought about the fact that so many in the game still appear to ignore the stats that arguably are the most telling of a player and his value. It seems as though there are still too many scouts around that value 40 times over OBP. It's very frustrating as a Cubs fan for them to preach aggressiveness when their biggest offensive problem is their lack of patience. It's hard to drive runners in when there are no runners on.
