  1. It doesn't. It's good for the Big 10/11, bad for 10 of the schools.
  2. That doesn't make any sense? Tell that to Dr Dorian. Bob: You were susposed to say "so's your face doesnt make sense!" So's your face.
  3. Here's to hoping it stays on. I'd like to have another #1 in the rotation.

  5. I saw 85 on one of his pitches. I've had my back to the TV for the most part.
  6. Namedropper OK, an anonymous Detroit Tiger. Better.
  7. So's your face. (sorry, I've been watching a lot of Scrubs since Heroes is on break)
  8. well I would believe that better recruits will come to Minnesota now that Tubby is there. Any speculation on who will move to Kentucky? Who is the mid-major flavor of the week? SIU coach? Winthrop? VCU? It's still a lower profile job and it's Minnesota. Where do you think the average top recruit is going to like more, North Carolina or Minnesota. What does NC have to do with this? I just threw out a big name school. You could easily sub Kansas, UCLA, Duke, etc. in there for North Carolina and it wouldn't make a difference. But it does make a difference. Kansas, UCLA, Duke, NC, etc. may have a longer history of continued success, but most of that has to do with the level of coaching at that school. Duke is successful because they have a great coach, not just because it's cool to go to Duke.
  9. I don't see why the level of BAC means a thing. .093 would effect me differently then it would the person next to me, you can't just go by "how drunk he was" on that number. The number is merely the law, and he broke the law. Why is it even a debate on how drunk he was? Who cares, he broke the law and he'll pay for it. So if you're playing with a gun and it accidentally goes off and kills someone, you should be punished the same way as if you walk into someone's house and blow their head off? There would be 2 different interpretations of the law in your scenario, no? Not so much with DUI. Why not, though? We punish people differently based on whether they have an ounce of pot, or a Nate Newton-sized stash in their trunk. I'm not saying LaRussa shouldn't be punished, but being as somebody with a BAC of 0.25 is a much greater danger to others than somebody with a 0.09, why shouldn't the punishment be more severe for those who put other lives in greater risk? I don't disagree.

  12. I'll wait to judge that when we find out what Moore gets us in a trade.
  13. Trying to get his outs over as quickly as possible.

  15. Floyd, a left-handed hitter, has a career .281 average against right-handers, and .272 average against lefties. Murton, a right-handed hitter, has a .329 average against lefties and .289 against right-handers. that's pretty much all i need to know. .277 .369 .498 .867 .289 .351 .436 .787 I'd rather have the top set of numbers. But I wouldn't vote for a straight platoon. Floyd's been around long enough that he has seen a lot of pitchers multiple times. I'd rather him start against those pitchers that he's hit well. I'd start him against Livan Hernandez in a heartbeat, for example. I'd start Floyd against Tim Hudson but Murton against John Smoltz. Agree with this comment Platoon espically is certain situation because of his experience against certain pitchers. What?
  16. Jon Kitna threw a lot of interceptions last year as a result of bad protection. With Joe Thomas on board, expect him to throw them out of stupidity.
  17. You can say that all you want, but you're wrong. Last team wasn't a fluke. Last year was a more exaggerated version of 2005. It simply exposed the flaws of a poorly run team. The Cubs have had the lowest walks in the league for several years. It's been part of their plan. Acquiring Soriano will not change that. You can cite all the bad breaks that hurt last year, but bad breaks are part of the game. I think you are exhibiting blind pessimism if you can't admit that the Cubs had more than what would be considered an "average" amount of bad breaks last year and had to rely (more than nearly every other team) on not ready minor league players to fill in for quite a few holes--namely in the rotation. The Friken' Marlins entier team was filled with AAAA and AAA and AA guys last year and still finshed better than the Cubs. The Cubs were terrible. This year they've put together a team that doesn't quite fit. And a pitching staff that includes Hill, Lilly, and Marquis. All suspetible to an inordinate number of HRs. Last year the Cubs were among the worst statistical teams in baseball and had one of the worst records in baseball. I think it is unrealistic to expect them to be drastically better. But even if they are drastically bettter that still only puts them around .500. With all due respect, the Marlins team was filled with very talented AAA and AA guys last year. Ours not so much.
  18. C Posada 1B Howard 2B Utley SS Rollins 3B ARam LF Dunn CF Soriano RF Dye DH Ortiz Come on, do you really expect to score any runs with this lineup? Wow. Terrible lineup. So in need of some table setters and a prototypical 8th hitter. I guarantee that lineup would leave people on base. Only because they already scored 1900 runs.
  19. Stupid ESPN. My insider privileges are currently nonexistent because I am apparently in the last 2 months of my magazine subscription. I can reinstate the last 2 months of insider by agreeing to pay the whatever it is for next year's membership. I bought a 4 year subscription to the magazine (for $6.39 on ebay), but it hasn't processed yet.
  20. playing that well where? 2nd, because DeRosa has moved into a platoon in RF / super-sub role. Na, in my dream that position is filled with The Riot posting a .375 OBP and hitting in the #2 spot. :D See, I have us trading Theriot straight up for Santana in my dream. Odd because I already traded Theriot and Cedeno for ARod and Miguel Cabrera.
