  1. I can't believe how bad this team ended up. Defensive intensity is non existing, offensive strategy is 20 years behind. Good job, good effort. How do you lose to a team that had their routine that screwed up by 20? Yeesh.
  2. I live in St. Louis and had to pull a lot of strings to make it up for the weekend they were in Chicago for the WS. I'm jealous of those that can go to games on the regular.
  3. Four Peaks Brewery tour. Hike Camel Back (but try not to have to crap your pants halfway up like I almost did).
  4. This game was probably generally more exciting, but watching WS Game 5 in the bleachers with the KB homer and 2 2/3 innings of nothing but tension from Chapman was absolutely nuts as well. I would imagine any home playoff win this year would go down as the best game you'd ever been to though.
  5. Regardless of what you guys think, there's no way that play was getting overturned from the original call. I'm still not convinced he was out, as much as I want to believe he was. His whiny bitch reaction definitely makes me smile though.
  6. The lack of defensive intensity early in the season made them unwatchable. I've missed the last few games but that's encouraging to hear.
  7. I'd guess most people are familiar with Night at the Roxbury at least.
  8. I will never tire of seeing that video in general and being able to pick myself out of the crowd on the Bryant WS Game 5 homer.
  9. Based on the fill in the blank video, Rizzo's name should be Tank Top Tony.
  10. i don't see it. they're going to want to be cautious with him. and on top of that, they have contreras and miggy...and miggy really started to come on at the plate once he made some adjustments late in the year. i could actually see him playing himself into a little more playing time than we expect (both because he's good and because it'll keep willson fresher). if there's an injury, maybe he works his way into the mix if his knee feels good enough, but idk otherwise. He said 2018. As in when Miggy isn't around anymore.
  11. Indeed. I was rooting for them in the WS back in 2006, like the rest of us. He did seem like one of the few genuine, friendly good owners in an age where there seem to be more bad (if not evil) owners overall. PS -- All that said, "Little Caesars" is really horsefeathers, low-grade pizza. Shouldn't be proud of founding that restaurant chain... Um I'm not gonna criticize "low grade" pizza thats ready for me on demand for $5. Sorry not sorry. Not to mention the fact that it's miles better than the garbage they try to sell as pizza in St. Louis.
  12. Their leading scorer was out last night and they still almost beat Illinois.
  13. LOL. I haven't seen that yet. That's just horrible. He's underrated IMO. Closest guys I can think of in that era would be Bernard King or Alex English? Dominique
  14. The longstanding backstory to the W presidency was that Cheney made all the plannin' and Bush was there to convince the yokels he was somebody they could have a beer with, and therefore agree with what Cheney pushed. And what Cheney pushed was WAR WAR WAR, MURDER MURDER MURDER, DEATH DEATH DEATH. But also PROFIT PROFIT PROFIT for Haliburton.
  15. I'd be pretty upset if I was the rest of baseball at this point. How much harm was actually done to the Astros by the hacking? I feel like getting the draft picks is a significant advantage for them in comparison to the damage actually done. The punishment to the Cardinals seems about right and I have a feeling it would have included their first rounder this year as well if they hadn't already forfeited it.
  16. This was the one that got me. I consider Cheney to be the worst/most evil person to ever have a significant influence on our govenrment before these clowns got in there and Bannon makes him look like a saint. It's horsefeathering scary. And it's scarier how many people don't seem to realize how bad this is.
  17. Well, they do have like 14 other starting pitcher options and about half are injury risks, so it's not a huge surprise
  18. At this point, I don't have much of a problem with any ballot that uses all 10 votes. Yeah, there are some dumb homer votes in those, but at least the guys doing that are mostly giving those who are deserving a legitimate shot at getting in.
  19. small field, short distances between bases, not a lot of room to maneuver and a whole lot of bang bang infield plays may play a part. That's exactly the reason I was going to mention. Everything is so much closer than baseball that the likelihood of getting hit in general is higher and then factor in the head mass/neck muscles and you have your answer.
  20. That's how it works on airline apps when I've flown with my daughter. I'd imagine it'll be a similar process here.
  21. So only the winner of each group gets through to the knockout round? Seems like having 12 groups of 4 with the top 2 getting through and a bye for the 8 teams with the most points would make sense. I'm not a fan of this really though.
  22. I feel like 1st base was probably the default every team needs a guy position and he probably got screwed by that pretty frequently. Fake edit: I just went and looked. Galarraga, Grace, McGriff, Jefferies, and even Eddie Murray took spots early in his career and then you had Casey and Helton show up long with McGwire being in the NL mid career and Pujols and DLee late. It seems like there's not nearly as many really good hitters at first as there used to be.
  23. Bagwell Bonds Clemens Vlad Edgar Kent Raines Manny Sheff Sammy I'd add Mussina, Schilling, Walker, and Pudge with additional votes. BBWAA is so stupid.
  24. Yep, I'm done with John Groce. This team plays too dumb and not nearly hard enough, especially on defense, for him to keep his job. Some pretty pathetic performances already this season, today included.
  25. I find the big brother/little brother relationship between Chicago and St. Louis even more humorous having lived here as long as I have because St. Louis claims the same kind of relationship to Kansas City and makes fun of them for their inferiority complex on a very regular basis and absolutely no one sees the irony in doing that.
