  1. That was a really fun game to watch. Refs mostly stayed out of the way and both teams made a lot of really good plays. I'll be interested to see if Domask can continue to be productive with his old man game in conference play.
  2. Based on the prospect cost we're hearing at this point, I don't quite understand this logic.
  3. Any of those feels like a massive overpay considering the dire payroll straits the Padres are in. Everyone knows they have to move him and that it's only going to be for one year. A bucket of balls and a reliever would normally be the return but since other teams obviously are interested the cost will be higher.
  4. What's funny is that his tax rate in Illinois wouldn't be that different. 37% federally plus 5% state tax gets you right to the Toronto number.
  5. I tend to agree that Soto doesn't make a ton of sense unless he's almost free from a prospect standpoint. I'm not in love with the Glasnow thing, but that move does make a lot of sense in conjunction with Ohtani as a bridge to him pitching in year 2 of his contract.
  6. Your absolutist attitude toward things is pretty wild considering you know nothing about his preferences.
  7. Based on what's happening to mid market teams' TV money, I'd suspect ownership pushes in the other direction and very soon. I'm in STL and the Cards are in dire straits with their TV deal because Bally's went belly up and there's going to be a significant reduction (likely by 50% according to those in the know) in TV revenue that's going to have an impact on payrolls across baseball. Teams like the Cubs, Yankees, Red Sox etc. are going to be fine but Cards, Padres, Brewers, and the like are going to have to make some tougher decisions.
  8. His name is Wesneski.
  9. Yeah, whether you think it's because Fields can't execute or not, there is absolutely no excuse for calling the exact same play to opposite sides of the field back to back when it's a WR screen that's been sniffed out the entire game.
  10. Huh? This looks like a 2 and four 5s to me, maybe three 5s and a 6.
  11. Or would they ask for Morel+ in return to fill that void? I'm generally not a fan of trading for a guy with one year left on a deal where you either re-sign him or lose assets. Any ideas on how likely he'd be to sign an extension or if that's even feasible with the self imposed budget restrictions?
  12. They weren't all screens obviously, but 18/37 passes were within a yard of the LOS or behind it.
  13. You can just say he banged Bedard's mom.
  14. Hard to take this article seriously when you're citing team wins as a major factor and poo poo Ozzie Smith and his career 76.9 bWAR/67.6fWAR as not HOF worthy when those are well clear of the threshold for induction.
  15. He was asked point blank about spending $200MM on a free agent pitcher during the Gibson presser yesterday and he stuttered and stammered about terms of the deal and length etc. He sure didn't sound like a guy who was going to come out guns blazing with a 9 figure contract offer for a resource they desperately need.
  16. Nor should they. Those are bottom of the barrel signings that will fill out the back of a rotation that has nothing but 4s and 5s already in it. I'd be pissed if I was a fan.
  17. Yes, I certainly said he should sign for pennies. You trying to put words in people's mouths is why nobody cares to deal with your constant self aggrandizing BS.
  18. My only quibble with this is that this team isn't 3-8 bad. This coaching staff is terrible, gutless and lacks creativity.
  19. Your insistence that a guy who's never pitched in MLB should get all the monies is just dumb. How many guys have come over and flopped after being stars in NPB? Most. You have a handful of guys like Ichiro, Matsui, Ohtani, etc. that have had wildly successful careers and then you have guys like Fukudome, Kaz Matsui, and a dozen other guys who had all the hype in the world but never quite adapted. Then you add in the different rigors of pitching every 5 days, the longer season, better hitters who destroy fastballs, and it's a legitimate question as to what this guy is really worth. I bet if he was that concerned about it, he'd sign a 2 year deal and then go make the pile of money you seem to think he's entitled to.
  20. You can't possibly say he made the wrong choice with certainty at this point. He threw a great ball to the right spot and his receiver let him down.
  21. At least GB is playing themselves out of a high draft pick
  22. Until you see an all 22 of that play you're talking out your ass.
  23. This is grade A horsefeathers. This loss was on the coaching staff and you know it.
  24. You can't have it both ways. He made the right throw and the receiver slowed down. That was a TD if Scott doesn't quit on the route.
