Your insistence that a guy who's never pitched in MLB should get all the monies is just dumb. How many guys have come over and flopped after being stars in NPB? Most. You have a handful of guys like Ichiro, Matsui, Ohtani, etc. that have had wildly successful careers and then you have guys like Fukudome, Kaz Matsui, and a dozen other guys who had all the hype in the world but never quite adapted. Then you add in the different rigors of pitching every 5 days, the longer season, better hitters who destroy fastballs, and it's a legitimate question as to what this guy is really worth. I bet if he was that concerned about it, he'd sign a 2 year deal and then go make the pile of money you seem to think he's entitled to.
