  1. Based on this injury (subscapularis) and how it functions in the shoulder, it's not out of the question to think surgery is on the horizon. Now, if it's truly just the muscle and there's not tendon/ligament damage involved, then yeah, it's probably likely he can avoid going under the knife. Unfortunately, based on how the rotator cuff works, I'm not real optimistic it's just muscular.
  2. You were saying? They looked real bad for a long stretch there though.
  3. You've been told the same thing by multiple people now. Maybe you're the problem here.
  4. Are you a woman? No? Then you should stop using that term. It's disrespectful at best and offensive at worst.
  5. I used to hate him but he's grown up a lot and would probably actually do a pretty solid job. I mean, nothing is going to extinguish that dumpster fire until Jerry and TLR are out of the picture, but you could do a lot worse than AJ.
  6. Minor nitpick, but the throw was on the money and Paredes just flat out didn't catch it. It hit him in the heel of the glove. A play he absolutely has to make.
  7. Totally his fault 2 of the top 3 late inning guys got hurt.
  8. It's 18 months until spring training 2026. I'd be surprised if he's not ready to go full steam by then. They may have to watch his innings in 2026 (assuming he's pitching well) but no reason he shouldn't be ready at the beginning of the season.
  9. Check out the rest of their August schedule. It's gonna be a bad month for them.
  10. I'll be surprised if he's not DFA/non-tendered and I would suspect it's likely he signs a minor league deal with the Cubs so he can rehab under their watch with an eye toward 2026.
  11. Any of you stats guys out there seeing anything obvious with Assad since he came off the IL? It feels like he's really nibbling even more than before or he's not locating nearly as well and getting swings on pitches on the edge of the zone or even hitting the edges of the zone as well.
  12. https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/40733088/2024-mlb-prospect-rankings-update-farm-systems-top-30-teams-draft-trade-deadline Orioles are #1 with $361 million in value.
  13. None. He's arbitration eligible so it's year to year.
  14. I think there are 2 pretty big variables that make this a pretty difficult question to answer. The first is how suppressed offense has been in the SL this year and the second is trying to determine if he can really access the power those long levers can afford if used properly. Some guys like Judge figure it out, others end up like Heyward where you never know what you're going to get. Maybe CF capable Ian Happ is what you end up with?
  15. .005 separating gold and silver and .08 separating gold from 6th. That was an insane race. I'm excited to see what happens in the men's 1500 with all 3 Americans making the final.
  16. Swanson not being completely worthless is making this feel a little different. Between that and having a real 3B, I'm cautiously optimistic.
  17. I saw him in Peoria in 2013. He was far and away the best player on the team and not only made several ridiculous plays at SS, but he hit a solo HR to win the game 1-0 for the chiefs.
  18. I like this strategy of throwing strikes much better.
  19. That feels like rust for Merryweather. He hasn't pitched in a week.
  20. Cards and KC had the same setup earlier this year but it's definitely weird.
  21. That's a really solid PA from PCA there.
  22. Absolutely amazing race and finish in the men's 10,000. Grant Fisher becomes only the 3rd American to medal in that event since 1960 I think they said. Just an incredible final 800m and he almost hung on for silver.
  23. At least they can't unscore the 5 runs.
  24. It would have taken much more than Walker to get him and that's probably really where the rub was.
