  1. I think the vast majority of it was that the Bears staff/team hadn't done the overseas thing before and that Jacksonville does this every year and has their routine down. Outside of that and the Bears DB injuries, I can't come up with a single reason why it would have moved that much. I took full advantage and won money on them so bully for me.
  2. What specifically do you think he needs to change to be successful in MLB?
  3. You, nor anyone other than Cody, have zero clue if this is true or not. I have no idea why people think speaking in absolutes like this ever makes any sense.
  4. That's exactly the kind of QB this defense should eat alive so I hope you're right.
  5. If he does, he's sure doing a great job making it look like he doesn't.
  6. I saw a picture of my high school's football team from this year and there were 18 kids total on the varsity squad. It was easily 25-30 when I was in high school 30 years ago and enrollment was like 370 then and over 500 now.
  7. Pick a neutral site and all the WC teams go there. The bottom 2 play each other Tuesday, winner plays the top WC team Wednesday, winner of that game goes to the division series against the team with the best record. It would be absolute madness and I'd love it.
  8. He would have needed 10 less throws and no OT if Mooney could catch the ball when he's wide open.
  9. If you want manager who will be there for 2/3 of the games, sure. This is a weird move considering all the health issues Francona has had causing him to miss time.
  10. Okay, sure, fine, it was the players not trying hard enough during home games.🙄
  11. You're saying their approach is the reason for bad offensive numbers at Wrigley. Their approach is the same pretty much everyday right? So if the approach is the same everyday and the numbers are wildly different in away games (they are for 2024) then there has to be a park factor involved. Especially when you look at visitor offensive numbers and those are similarly suppressed vs other parks.
  12. By upper end I mean guys that will effectively push Taillon to the de facto #5 starter and at that point you have a really solid rotation with lots of depth available.
  13. I thought point #2 was very interesting. Tells me TT is right in his evaluation of pitching being the priority in the offseason. I think we see two upper end of the rotation additions because of that combined with the uncertainty caused by the injuries to all the young guys who could potentially fill those spots.
  14. I saw a similar article but it removed all players who accumulated less than 2 WAR from the calculation, so kind of a suspect method. Regardless, the suppression of salary by owners has led to a downward trend in $/WAR in free agency with more dollars being allocated to players performing at a <2 WAR pace and less to those 2-4 WAR players. It's a really weird trend making it difficult to really ascertain a good $/WAR value.
  15. Cody underperformed his contract by somewhere between $5.5-10 million depending on what you use as your $/WAR calculation value. Some of that is actual underperformance, some of that is injury, and a decent chunk of it is paying him as a CF and him playing 95 of his 130 games somewhere other than CF with 46 of those games being at 1B and DH. He was -0.4 dWAR, which you wouldn't expect to be the case in CF for most of the season.
  16. If they were doing it everywhere then why are the numbers so much worse at Wrigley than on the road? The data doesn't support anything you're saying.
  17. Is DJ Moore actually dogging it and is it a problem? That film review posted in last weeks game thread is concerning at the very least.
  18. I think it signals how big of a disaster the development system is with some loyalty to Mozeliak thrown in. And the Dewitts like stability, so this probably scratches that particular itch as well. I can't argue that it's a weird way to go though.
  19. Eh, it doesn't seem that crazy to me. He spent this year evaluating the minor league and development system, he'll have the next year to focus on making the necessary changes and then takes over the reins after that.
  20. Makes sense. Gives Bloom a chance to rebuild their minor league development system and focus solely on that while Mo finishes out his contract.
  21. Press conference on the season and future plans is happening as I type. Rumors around town are that Mozeliak and Marmol are going to be back but I would bet there are major cuts to the MLB team to spend on infrastructure at the minor league level. I have no idea what they're thinking if that's not the move and they keep those 2 in place for next year.
  22. Does your opinion change any with Posey as the head of their baseball ops now? Feels like a premature promotion to me.
  23. There are 12 players who were active this year that are older than him and another 8 who are the same age.
  24. He retired after the 2021 season. In spite of spending his life playing baseball, I find it really hard to believe he has the experience and knowledge necessary to run a front office already. Best of luck but this feels like a desperation move by the Giants.
  25. Yep. Next year is his last option year and that's the single biggest reason the
