  1. Rich Harden is a motherfreaking Cub!!!!!!!!!!! And I am gay for Soto, Wood, Ramirez, Lee and possibly Harden. Those are two new developments Fred. Don't you have work to do?
  2. And apparently that pitch is strike 3 to Kosuke but a ball for Demp?
  3. Ump in the Philly game just called an ankle high slider that was 3-4 inches outside a strike that should have been ball 4 and Werth pops out on the next pitch.
  4. Demp's getting squeezed on the inside corner to the LH hitters.
  5. Harang's been terrible ever since Dusty pitched him for 63 pitches out of the pen 2 days after he threw 103. Then 3 days later he got shelled throwing 73 more pitches. Imagine throwing 239 pitches in 3 outings over a 6 day span having an adverse effect on you being able to pitch effectively in future games.
  6. and the PH catcher hits into a DP. Awesome.
  7. Phils with 2 on one out and a pitching change for the Cards.
  8. Camera just showed a shot of the problem. what would that be?
  9. does Harang look a little chunkier than he used to?
  10. How many did he throw the other night in his 4 IP? Must have been at least 50 with all the Ks. I would think next outing you could get him to 70-75, maybe 80-85 the one after that and then 90-100 the 3rd start. I don't see a huge issue as long as he can keep throwing strikes.
  11. I thoroughly enjoyed my view from the 1st base side about 2/3 of the way down the line. The shade was definitely a good place to be. Since I haven't read the entire thread, was there upheaval when Johnson didn't go halfway so he could score on Lee's "single"? Just curious, because I was pissed when I saw how he played that particular situation. And WTF was Quade thinking sending Ward? And what was Lou thinking leaving him in to run in the 1st place?
  12. Pedro throwing fastballs at 86. He seems to have gotten his crap together and is mixing his pitches well and keeping the Cards on their heels a little. Most importantly, he's getting ahead in the count. And Reyes craps the bed. Vance: Is #2 Carrie Underwear or Simpson?
  13. Ugh I know, it's brutal. I'm up late anyway with a screaming baby, so no real inconvenience for me at this point. I mean, other than the lack of sleep due to the SCREAMING BABY. I'm not sure who it was, but "News flash baby, I need sleep occasionally". Derwood maybe?
  14. We'll have some very important pieces back, so I don't see that happening. And the Cards have no one with stuff in the same realm as Cain's. Regardless of whom we were facing tonight, we played poorly. Too many strikeouts looking (in fairness, a big zone, but you must adjust), that steal attempt in the first should have drawn no throw from Soto but instead the Giants scored a run, no clutch hits, etc... Let's face it, that was as frustrating a game as I've seen in a little while and I'm pissed. Well, when the pitches the called 3rd strikes are on are unhittable because they're 8-10 inches off the plate, I can't complain about the hitting much. That, and the umps zone went from huge outside corner on the LH side of the plate early to huge corner on the RH side of the plate later in the game. His zone was pretty inconsistent the whole game IMO. Unfortunatley, one of the few good outings we'll probably see from Marquis the rest of the way was wasted.
  15. Yes, I know this has been brought up ad nauseum, but how much affect do they really have on what we perceive to actually be the strike zone when watching on TV? Last night's game was entirely frustrating to watch because of the way the strike zone was being called and I'm not sure if the ump was really that horrible or if he just had a big corner on one side of the plate. The RH batters box strike zone seemed to be gigantic and got bigger as the game went on. Marquis either wasn't getting the same calls or was just unable to take advantage of it.
  16. Ron: How fast was that pitch? Pat: 122 mph. We strive for accuracy here on Cubs radio. Awesome. I love Pat.
  17. Yeah it destroyed the Hornets and Jazz franchises. In principle, I agree with you, but Paul and Williams both had at least 2 years in college and played much better competition on a regular basis than Rose just because of the conferences they were in. I do think Rose should be in there right away unless he does something to prove otherwise and Hinrich needs to be gone before camp starts.
  18. Thank you very kindly (in my best Morgan Freeman voice)
  19. Who are #3 and #5 in your sig? #3- Danica Patrick. #5-Shania Twain. In case you were curious, I got a slap on the wrist for the cat picture yesterday.
  20. I would guess it's partly that and the fact that 2 pitching coaches with great reputations have both just gotten completely frustrated with him because he wouldn't listen to them.
  21. To be fair, I did give him credit for a 4.50 ERA. I wasn't trying to imply that he's good one outing and terible the next every time. He's had his share of solid efforts, but the blowups really just kill the pen and any chance the Cubs have of winning those games. The classic example is his last year with the Cards when LaRussa left him out there for 5 innings when he clearly had nothing and he gave up 12 runs.
  22. Foster has pretty decent size for a guard, and he can fill it up. He's a strong pick for where the Mavs were at. He seems really long to me from the few times I've seen him play. And, yeah, he can be as good a shooter as there is out there. Reminds me a little of Reggie Miller with the way he plays. Probably a little more athletic but not as much basketball skill.
