  1. Yeah, I was just thinking he may need a DL stint to freshen up and be ready for the playoffs. Gives an extra spot of roster flexibility too.
  2. Can somebody post the link for Gameday audio for me. My computer won't open gameday or the audio for some reason. Thanks.
  3. Just heard he signed a minor league deal with the Red Sox.
  4. Yes, this. I'm a bit of a soccer fan and played for quite a while, so I enjoy watching if it's on but don't go out of my way to. I saw some of the men's soccer games and saw a little of a women's game a couple days later. I was amazed at how sloppy and disorganized it looked compared to the men's and even some of the previous women's matches I had watched in previous Olympics/World Cups. Plus, good lord are they slower than molasses.
  5. He's done. The way they were talking about it on the radio today it sounded like he's pretty much given up any hope of a return.
  6. Didn't he start out absolutely on fire too?
  7. How about 23-14? (We have 77 wins right now)
  8. I was thinking that was a low number and then I went and looked at the names. Gonzalez, Baldelli, Borchard, Utley, Bonser, Dumatrait, and Wainwright have all had big league contributions and most baseball fans paying attention would have heard of them. I think 7/30 making contributions isn't a bad ratio as much of a crapshoot as the ML draft is. Also nice to see I've never heard of the Cards 1st rounder from that year. Edit: How did Adrian Gonzalez (Marlins) and Chris Young (Pirates) both end up in Texas? And man, there was nobody in that draft after the 1st round. I think I counted 4-5 big leaguers in rounds 2 and 3.
  9. Just a random observation: It doesn't look to me like Lee's stance is quite as open as it has been in years past. He's still getting around on the inside pitch but hasn't been able to drive it or elevate it at all, hence the 8 million ground balls to the SS. Just an idea, don't know if it has any merit or not.
  10. Seriously, when Steve Phillips is calling you out for leaving a guy in the game too long, you're obviously doing something wrong. He's proven time and again he's not the brightest bulb in the box. I guess that makes Ned the burned out bulb?
  11. Speaking of playoff rotations...I hope I am not getting too far ahead of myself, but how would you set up the Cubs? I would consider going Zambrano-Dempster-Harden-Lilly-Zambrano. I would go with this for 3 reasons. One, the schedule is probably Game-Game-Off-Game-Game-Game, meaning that the bullpen would get a day off for Harden's start. Two, setting it up this way gives you the possibility of bringing both Zambrano and Dempster back for games 4 and 5, whereas there is no way Harden can go on short rest. Three, should the above scenario occur, Harden would be well rested to pitch game 1 of the NLCS, and would matchup well against the other team's ace. OK, I am getting really ahead of myself, we will probably tank and not make the playoffs now. Actually, I think the worst it would be is game-game-off-game-game-off-game to allow for travel back to the home park for game 5. I think last year there was also the scenario where the team with the best record got to choose if they wanted to play in the series with the extra off day as an added advantage to them for having the best record. So, you could conceivably see them go game-off-game-off-game-game-off-game.
  12. You could always just drive down there and run him over with your giant gas guzzling truck.
  13. Whattya mean? It's DPLee at the plate.
  14. These Braves announcers are excruciating to listen to. Saying Kotchman did a good job fouling off the 0-2 94 mph heater.......even though it would have been ball 1.
  15. Lucky for me I'm in Memphis for work tonight where they get FSN South so I get to watch the game. It's still kind of Cardinals country here with their AAA team being here so I was expecting to see the Cards and Marlins on the FSN channel they get. Good to see Harden get some early run support. Edit: Grammar that made me want to vomit when I saw it.
  16. http://insidestl.com/Portals/0/audio/081208-4Elias.mp3 His appearance on the radio this morning.
  17. He'll be on St. Louis radio this morning before 10 am. http://www.team1380.net Update-Should be on around 8.
  18. On 1380 this morning McKernan (who also hapens to be one of Edmonds' business partners) said he talked to both Edmonds and Claiborne, both of whom he knws well, and had this to say. Basically Edmonds says Brent Stover (who he referred to as a Cards reporter in a red shirt) said "hey, I'm with Cards TV can I get an interview" to which he responded "I'm a Cub now, get a Cardinal to do your interview". McKernan also said Stover didn't remember him saying anything like what Claiborne is reporting. Apparently Claiborne and Edmonds have had a civil dscussion since then but both are sticking to their stories. (all quotes are paraphrased and not exact) It doesn't make sense for Edmonds to alienate people in St. Louis because he has a business down here. He may be a bit of a prima donna, but he's certainly never struck me as a complete idiot who would risk a business venture over something stupid like this.
  19. His writing in the P-D panders to the St. Louis sheep. He actually speaks pretty intelligently and calls out Cardinal and fan stupidity on his radio show on a regular basis. He also, surprisingly, is a huge stats/saber guy (well, he uses stats all the time and he weighs 300+ lbs). And he hates TLR's guts because of the way he treats people. The writing is much different than his real point of view, but I think he gets reigned in a little by the paper and isn't really allowed to do what he wants. Pretty terrible of him to let that happen, but whatever.
  20. Pat and Ron keep mentioning it looks like Franklin is throwing a knuckleball.
  21. There's a lot kitty corner from the bleachers entrance I parked in last Saturday for $30. It's $45 if you want easy out in that same lot.
  22. If Marquis can give us one more shutout inning, you really can't ask for much more from him. Not bad outside of the 2nd.
  23. Those don't mean much since one is a starter and the other is a reliever. Marshall is used mostly when he has the matchup advantage, so you'd expect his ERA+ to be fairly good. Except if he was bad he wouldn't have that good of a nuber since he has started several games and wouldn't still be in the bigs if he hadn't done pretty darn well. Not to mention the 3 IP and 1 run he gave up in Harden's last start.
