  1. Why you wouldn't just throw fastballs down the middle as hard as you can to DLee at this point I have no idea.
  2. I don't care if he sends Zambrano to first, someone else needs to play. Lee is a parody of himself right now. I'm really beginning to think the physical part of it isn't the whole story for Lee. I think he's shown a whole lot of decline not just since the wrist, but since his daughter got diagnosed with that disorder. I think he may not be fully focused on the game, which would be completely understandable. Just a theory. In a pre-game interview on 720 with judd serott, Lee said that it was actually a misdiagnosis, and that his daughter does not actually have that disease, and her sight is no longer degenerating. So it's not that. Well, I guess that's really good news for him. Unfortunately it doesn't change his current suckitude at baseball.

  4. Bankart lesion = labrum problem. Speaking from experience, this is going to be an ongoing problem until he gets it fixed surgically. Let's hope Carroll is wrong, but even if he's not, I have a hard time believing it'll be less than 8 weeks.
  5. Harang just knocked in 2 for the Reds and they're up 6-2 now.
  6. Reds just took the lead 4-2 over the Cards and still have 1st and 2nd with 1 out.
  7. Bet he's DVRing the game so he can watch himself later.
  8. No it's not. That's the front shoulder at the plate. The throwing is a controlled motion you can work with a little bit less ability on. The front shoulder at the plate is something you just have to let rip, especially the way he swings. That's what killed Rolen. I'm reeeeeaaaaal worried at this point. Do you remember how long Rolen was out? And yeah the Scales slide was all kinds of awesome. Which time? This typically isn't something you fix once and it's done, especially considering the occupation. I don't think Rolen's been right since until maybe finally now. It wouldn't surprise me if he's done for the year. Even if he's not, don't expect 25-30 HR .300 avg Ramirez the rest of the year. He won't be able to get really cranked up on the inside FB.

  10. There are a whole lot of different things that could or could not be wrong with his shoulder. He could have completely torn everything or the capsule may just be loose. If he tore anything, let's hope it's the rotator cuff and not the labrum as that's a lot easier to repair and allows for a lot closer return to normal than a labrum tear in terms of range of motion. Plus, there's a lot more structure in the back of the shoulder to hold things together than in the front. If the capsule just got a little loose and nothing tore, he can realistically do 6-8 weeks of rehab to tighten it back up and probably be 85-90% when he comes back. At that point, you just have to hope he doesn't aggravate it again. (Yes, I've had my right shouler operated on twice for labrum tears. Now that I just saw saw it, yeah, that's a labrum tear most likely. Suck.
  11. MLB network was talking to John Heyman last night about the whole deal and he was saying that management was unhappy about the inconsistent play, particularly the hot start last year and then playing like 10 games under the rest of the season. He also said they were unhappy about player development, particularly that of Carlos Quentin and Bonifacio since they have both gone elsewhere and done well.
  12. Kind of the problem with shoulders, there's so much soft tissue supporting so much stress, there really is no normal. It sucks because you're never really out of the woods. It's why shoulder problems are typically a lot tough er to come back from than elbows.
  13. Apparently he doesn't watch much baseball. That was just last week he got drilled in the helmet right?
  14. Gameday crapped out. I'm assuming Gathright sucked and then Sori went yard? Gathright is hitting for Bradley. Miles walked for the pitcher and then Sori crushed one. Maybe that's what caused it. They have Joey in the 9 and Marmol in Bradley's spot.

  16. The city's ok, it's the majority of the people that suck.
  17. I figured it did depend on the injury. A shoulder injury like that just doesn't seem it would be that miserable. But hey, I'm not the one dealing with it. I've rehabbed my shoulder twice, not necessarily to the extent Prior is trying to do, but I was getting my program from the Cardinals team doctor so it wasn't too far off. It's not that bad because you can only do so much to the shoulder in a day before the muscles get tired. Really, he probably can't do more than a couple hours of work on the shoulder and then play some catch/long toss or whatever throwing program they've got him on.
  18. How many quarterbacks with bad shoulders that need to be surgically repaired have had good seasons at age 40? Fixed
  19. Since Cutler has become a starter.. Cutler - 45 turnovers in 1220 pass attempts Favre - 47 turnovers in 1257 pass attempts And this is with a so called "injury prone, to old decling Favre". So you're comparing a rookie QB in his first 30+ starts to a guy who's been playing for 15+ years in terms of mistakes made? Way to compare apples to oranges. I think the probability of Cutler getting better and Favre getting worse are both about 90%. ETA: I see I'm not the only one. Also, I heard something yesterday about Favre possibly having the biceps tendon fixed surgically and still being ready for mini camps and training camp. Anybody else hear anything similar.
  20. Given Piniella's hatred for Fox and the existence of Hoffpauir I doubt they'd callup Fox. Gathright absolutely has to go. IF they decide later that they want a speedy guy to play CF once a month that can't hit at all they still have Sam Fuld at AAA. Did Piniella say something that indicates he hates Fox, or is that just speculation? I'm pretty sure it goes back to that incident at the end of 2007 when Fox missed a sign or swung away at the first pitch after the pitcher had walked a couple guys. Something along those lines, and then he got like 2 more ABs the rest of September or maybe even got sent back to Iowa.
  21. Those who want Amare and are bitching about defense are nuts. He plays less defense than anybody currently on the Bulls roster.
