  1. That's exactly what I thought. Schumaker at 2nd? That would be awesome to watch. He might not be too terrible of an option. He was a SS in college.
  2. suck it. Illinois might have 1 or 2 losses playing in the Big 12. It's just bad. Not to say the performance this season from Mizzou isn't good or unexpected, but, man it'd be nice to play that schedule just to get a high seed in the tourney.
  3. wait, they used a replay for that? i thought they just missed the call live , and the tv guys were rehashing it. Nope, they looked at a replay. They did look at a replay but it was the non-HD picture without the benefit of widescreen. When they came back, they explained the refs only had the lo-def picture and the shot they later showed of the elbowing happening was in the area of the picture you could only see in an HD wide screen shot. Bottom line, the refs never saw it.
  4. It's not TJS. It's a different ligament that's torn in the elbow. Don't remember which one.
  5. I don't know about that. We're talking elbow surgery here. I feel the same way as you do in regards that this could be an opportunity to land a quality pitcher but there is too much mystery surrounding a guy who now adds elbow to long history of shoulder issues. Plus, is there such a thing as this years available cash? I'm not sure, but if there was, I'd invest it into Peavy before Sheets. I feel a lot better about fixing elbows than I do shoulders. Granted, this isn't the nearly perfected TJS, but it can't be any more involved of a surgery or complicated of a rehab. I'd bet on Sheets pitching well a hundred times before I bet on a guy coming back from a shoulder issue. Say, Chris Carpenter for example. He's one of the few that has had a truly full comeback from a major shoulder issue.
  6. 1. Miss nearly every jump shot you take, whether you're covered or wide open. 2. Leave UW's most one dimensional guy alone outside the 3 point line to do the one thing he's good at all night. 3. Rebound like you have concrete in your shoes and the other team is just going to let you have the ball. and finally, 4. Take nothing but 15-20 foot jumpers when you're not hitting them. Don't spread the floor and get it inside, just continue jacking up shots you obviously (at least last night) have no shot at making. And whoever asked about Legion, it's pretty clear he's gone Rich Hill on us and completely forgotten how to put the ball on the inside of the orange metal round thing that's hanging there. I'm reasonably sure it's entirely a confidence issue. The one shot he did make last night was a rhythm jumper where he just came around a pick on the dribble and shot it without having time to think about it. Everything else he had time to look at and missed or it was generally just an awful shot he shouldn't have been taking in the first place.
  7. Yes they did. And it was glorious. It's great when even good ole Rat Face's whining can't make a difference for them.
  8. #1: I'm fairly certain he got it cleaned up right after the season last year. But yeah, that would kill them. #2: To the poster who mentioned Jaime Garcia; he had TJS and likely won't do much this year.
  9. What Rabbit said. She's a 6'1" former USC volleyball player. And she's a long way away from unattractive. He could probably do better, yeah, but he could also be married to a really hot chick who's a total bitch.
  10. It really just makes too much sense to bring in Wigginton and send Gaithright packing to Iowa. What kind of contract did he get? Ty would make so much sense because he can play a little corner OF (not well, but he can) and can backup 3rd when Aram has a bad wheel for a couple weeks. That would add thunder from both sides of the plate because it would allow Hoff to stay on the 325 man as well. Bench: Johnson Hoff Wigginton Bako Miles Works for me, at least until Sori or Bradley goes down for an extended period.
  11. Sounds like the Illini may have some issues going on right now. Apparently Weber cut practice short on Saturday it was so ugly. Davis playing crappy because of lingering tonsilitis, Meacham can't hit the broad side of a barn lately. I'm a little concerned about the 2nd half of the B10 schedule with PSU twice, MSU, Purdue, and Minnesota all left on the schedule and not one easy one among them. Plus they still have to go to Wisky, OSU and NU.
  12. Illinois had no business winning that game with the way they shot and played in general, but good lord was that one of the worst officiating jobs I've seen in a long time. and I just loved the overrated chant at the end. Woo, you're now 1-20 against Illinois in the last 21. Go away you weaselly turds. Perhaps I'm just frustrated after watching them play about as terribly as they possibly could. Gotta win 4 of the next 5 to stay in it now.
  13. I hadn't seen Iowa play before tonight. Man are they limited offensively.
  14. What the hell happened to Mizzou last night? Butters? Tiger?
  15. Good luck winning at Illinois.......that is unless we go into the "I'm pretty sure we're going to win but let's see how close we can make it" offense at the end of the game with a lead. UI almost gave the game against Wisky back because of it.
  16. Illinois up to 20th in the ESPN poll. MSU 9, Purdue 17, and Minnesota 24. Anybody seen the AP poll results yet?
  17. Terrible calls in the first half. Apparently somebody doesn't want Bo to lose 4 straight. Good job by the Illini to stick with it and stay calm. Surprised they didn't allow the basket at the end of the half.
  18. Self's done a good job this year. This team is very young, and the talent isn't superstar caliber outside of Collins and Aldrich. Hell, Brady Morningstar is starting. Starting off 4-0 in the Big 12 with two road victories--even if the teams all are bad--is a pretty good. And Mario Little is going to be a really good player. I wish he were 100% healthy. He can score. Agreed Self has done well, but its sad to think they might win a Big 12 title because they have to play the South only once. I still doubt they'll win the title. We'll lose to MU once and at OU. We'll struggle with both UT and Baylor. I think we'll win one of those, but we could lose both. OSU could bite us, too. And we'll probably drop one more head-scratcher--@ Nebraska is my guess. I think we'll end up 12-4 or 11-5. 12-4 gives us a shot, but 11-5 won't cut it. Did we mention how bad the B12 North is? Mizzou is solid but terribly inconsistent and everybody else is just bad. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if 11-5 tied for the North title. Overall, probably not.
  19. Except for the fact that I went back to DePaul-Marquette because I couldn't stand watching the slop that was the 1st 5 minutes of the game. It looked like really unorganized pick-up ball from both teams.
  20. My question is why the hell does he have Miles in there everyday? Isn't it pretty much assumed he'll be the RH halfof a platoon at 2B?
  21. Any of you fine gentlemen have any insight on the UI-OSU matchup tonight? I really know very little about OSU's team this year other than they have another highly thought of Freshman big man and Matta seems to be a good coach.
  22. Summer in Mpls. is great. It gets hot, but the humidity isn't usually too bad. Where is this in relation to the dome?
  23. I'm not quite up on NFL rules, how much of his big rookie contract would we be responsible for with Leinart? If that's not a problem, I'd take a flier on him Both teams would be responsible for whatever is left on the deals, both teams would take cap hits related to the pro rated portion the signing bonus, I think. I'm pretty sure the team trading the player away takes the full hit on the bonus and them the team getting the player is responsible for the rest of the contract.
  24. By the way, can Ted Valentine just go away? How does he still have a job officiating college games? I'm not claiming he did anything bad against Purdue last night, just that he's a horrible official in general. You don't want to get IU fans started on Ted Valentine. Don't think Bobby should have gotten tossed for checking to see if his player was dead under the basket, eh? I will always remember that as perhaps the worst call ever in college basketball history. And I'm an Illinois fan.
  25. Has there been any opinion on Nate Davis' decision here? I found that a little strange after his awful performance in the bowl game. Didn't watch much of it so I don't know if it was him or something else, but that's not the game you'd like to go out on when you're turning pro early.
