  1. That's fine. But it does in fact mean he's an idiot.
  2. Yeah, I'd love to see him do it. One of the most talented guys to ever play and was just completely derailed by injuries. Just seems like a generally really good guy too.
  3. Listening to the Scott Van Pelt show the other day, Ryen Resillo said that Howard really just wants to play with his buddies, and most of those guys are barely role players on good teams. So, yeah, he clearly isn't all that interested in winning and would rather things just be fun all the time. Idiot.
  4. I want to know where it started to go wrong with Bruce, besides Self's guys leaving, how did he go from building SIU to just crapping the bed at Illinois? Was he really just that far in over his head? I think it had everything to do with the type of players he recruited and his style of communication. I think he'll always struggle with elite type athletes because they don't want to grind games out like his less skilled players in the past have been able to. I think he just fell into the perfect storm with Deron, Dee, and Luther where they were both very good athletes/basketball players and also had very high basketball IQs. I think his coaching style and a less intelligent brand of player was his undoing the last several years because when he had a less skilled, more basketball intelligent guy like Frazier running the point, they were relatively successful.
  5. I feel dirty for having to root for Kansas on Monday. Yuck.
  6. fact Boers is an old bitter douche, but Bernstein makes it listenable sports talk radio. It's light years better than most of the meatheads out there spouting garbage on a daily basis.
  7. He got a better contract than Groce. Does that get us out of any of his buyout?
  8. Ha. Not uncommon when a business is inaccurately associated with something negative. There was a touch of uproar here when media was reporting that a guy was shot and killed at a local bar when it turns out the 2 guys had recently left said bar and were in a public space/park (20 feet of grass in the city) next door to the bar. DON'T TRASH OUR GOOD NAME WITH MISINFORMATION Is there really such a thing as cease and assist? Or is it supposed to be cease and desist like jersey was implying?
  9. Yeah, having the games in a dome like that just sucks. I mean, the court is basically in one end zone and it's just cavernous. I haven't liked it at all when I've been at games in the dome.
  10. Um... there's 2.8 seconds on the clock at the time he steps into the lane... Haha. Derwood can't tell time.
  11. Wow, those images are worse than I was expecting. Yeah, he'll be lucky to ever walk right again, let alone be able to pitch effectively.
  12. Yeah, that's the biggest thing I didn't get. Made no sense at all.
  13. Says the guy whose team couldn't beat a 15 seed.
  14. Wow, Wisconsin is 13 of 21 from 3 right now. Just on fire!
  15. For the type of player Cespedes is projected to be, 6/36 was a good deal, but 4/36 really wasn't. Especially considering the higher-than-average bust risk he holds. He only has to be worth about 2 WAR/year to be worth that contract. Not guaranteed but it's not a big risk. I think that's a bit of a skewed way of looking at it given the risk inherent in signing a guy who has no big league (or minor league, for that matter) track record and the odd conditions under which he's a free agent. I just don't think it apples to apples to compare him to a ML FA with a track record in terms of how you're going to pay him.
  16. http://i.istockimg.com/file_thumbview_approve/4078453/2/stock-photo-4078453-dump-truck-backing-up.jpg Prolly need more than 1 of those things to get him.....
  17. I watched this game at a pub in Bath, England. Not that anybody cares.
  18. I think they probably looked at both of them as projects to work on and Volstad appears to have taken to the coaching better than Wood has to this point. They both had crappy years last season and have been working on different things, probably as expected, and it just hasn't clicked with Wood yet. I don't think this "competition" falls into the same category as most would since they both had flaws to fix.
  19. That was a helluva finish to the half!
  20. I just want to make sure everybody sees this, because it could not be more true. The adjustment he made while in the air to get square to the hoop and knock that down was freaking amazing.
  21. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's only for this year. In 2013, they're revert back to the 2-2-1 format. I don't understand why it's necessary this year, but not going forward. I think it was a scheduling thing, which is why they weren't sure they were going to add the extra WC this year if I remember right.
  22. Damn near got your wish. At any rate, lulz @ Iowa!
  23. What's Bryan French for? Pubic
  24. I disagree with this 100%. They had the Vernon Maxwell incident as precedent. With that information in hand, every single NBA franchise should have had a contingency plan in place on what actions to take if something like that happened again. I work in the chemical industry and nearly every single one of the safeguards we have in place in case of an emergency is based on something that somebody else did wrong in some situation, and we damn sure have things in place to prevent major catastrophes from occurring at our facilities that have happened elsewhere. It's a pretty common practice in the safety/security field to have things in place to prevent previous incidents from either occurring at all again or to significantly mitigate the amount of damage caused. Somebody in the Pistons organization (and probably a bunch of others) completely dropped the ball by not having a procedure in place to deal with this.
