  1. That looked like a concussion shot. I wouldn't be surprised if he's out for a while.
  2. Tillman got eaten alive on that drive. I hope he's just a little gassed and not suddenly bad.
  3. Sounds like a situation similar to Adam Wainwright. Partial tear that held up for quite a few years before he tore it completely. Who knows, you get him developed and then he tears it, he's only coming back from the injury and not trying to learn how to pitch at the professional level and coming back from injury.
  4. I was just looking at Lake's stats. He has a pretty significant reverse platoon split this year. Is this a normal thing for him or just and anomaly for this year? Not a huge SS for him facing lefties this year, but still found it interesting.
  5. And Alvarez leads off the 19th with a dinger! Go Bucs!
  6. Headed to the 18th tied at 3 in St. Louis. Juan Cruz (didn't know he was still pitching) just blew a save for the Pirates in the 17th.
  7. Good to see after throwing 36 pitches thru 2 that Arroyo has only thrown 33 in the last 3 innings. #-o
  8. I'm sure you're not the first to do that, but I rather like it!
  9. Looked more like old and tired after the marathon match in the semis.
  10. Rupp is [expletive] amazing. More amazing than Rupp was the finish in the women's 10k. A 62 second final 400m after running almost 6 miles? From a woman? Insane. Also, the Czech women's beach volleyball team is really easy on the eyes!
  11. Does Brett's minor league guy pay much attention to how prospects are rated or am I crazy for thinking this is totally out of left field:
  12. I've been as opposed as anybody to a Garza deal, but I think I could get behind a really good package including Syndergaard. I think you are the only one opposed to a Garza deal. That's not even close to true.
  13. Don't the DBacks have some money issues? That's a huge contract to take on. Did Lee get any no trade protection in his deal?
  14. I'm hearing the same thing from a guy I know who works for the Cubs, so that sounds like a pretty highly likely scenario. You have a guy you know who works for the Cubs that has info like this and you've been holding out on us? Not holding out exactly. The information I get is intermittent at best. If I have something I'll pass it along, it just doesn't happen too often what with all their tight lippedness these days.

  16. I'm pretty sure his deal is done at the end of this year. He signed for 6/$100 the same year Soriano signed for 8/$138 right?
  17. Based on the game I was at, I think he's got a much better shot at sticking at SS than most of the experts seem to be giving him. He has good instincts, soft hands, and a rocket arm. Unless he really does grow a lot, I think he at least starts his ML career at SS.
  18. Somebody set me straight here. I am under the impression that if we offer Dempster the $12.5 million and he declines, then goes and signs with another team, they lose a pick but we don't get anything in return. Do we actually get that pick like we did under the old CBA?
  19. I get that you prefer natural food, but it's faulty to deem anything not natural as being automatically bad for people. It's not that they're all that bad, they've just become so prevalent in everything we eat that it's becoming a huge issue. All of the preservatives, not to mention high fructose corn syrup being in all kinds of crap it has no business being in, just can't possibly be okay to consume in the quantities most Americans do. It's why there's so many fat people out there (okay, one of the many reasons). And don't even get me started on how awful I think (based on some reading) genetically modified food is for us. I wish I had the time, energy, and space to have a huge garden full of stuff I knew exactly where it was coming from and how it was grown.
  20. As big of dbags as the Cards announcing crew can be, they just showed a clip of the Cubs clicking their heels in honor of Ronny as they came onto the field today. Pretty cool way to show some love for him if you ask me.
  21. It's my son's 5th birthday, and frankly, I'm more interested in hearing his thoughts on Dempster and Garza trade possibilities. My 4 yr old probably has a couple ideas she could throw in if you're interested! My four year old would trade the farm for Moustakas. Loves saying his name. Ha! Funny what they get fixated on. We were watching the British Open today and I think she's said Brant Snedeker about 400 times since this morning. Also, I hope he just got traded and not injured.

  23. Was that last night? I could have sworn I saw a few innings of that with a different announcing crew than either CWS or BOS broadcast on MLBN. Do they send their own crew to do those games? I caught a little of that game too. I think I remember Vasgersian being in the booth.
  24. That was a great play to pick that ball up and make the tag by Barney.
  25. It's a bit depressing that they've scored 2 runs or less in almost 1/3 of their games.
