  1. I'm slightly amused by the fact that the Royals handled the Cardinals pretty well this weekend and are now getting pummeled by the Astros tonight. Mostly amused by the cards losing and all the uproar about Matheny and their pen right now.
  2. Len said it was only the 6th time in mlb history it happened. One of them was Frank Thomas but I didn't hear if Len gave the other names. Cool thanks for sharing. Sure would be nice to have access to Len Len and Bob right now, but in all fairness to Hawk, he becomes infinitely more bearable when his team is getting obliterated. What list is that?
  3. I'd rather pay the extra money to a guy who can, you know, at least walk right, let alone run up and down a basketball court 80 times a year. Didn't Roy retire last year because he was so broken?
  4. Agreed. His writing style is very........choppy I guess is the best word.
  5. How could it possibly not? Are you saying fair or foul shouldn't be reviewable? I think that's one of the easiest things to fix, especially on that particular call. Now, things change a bit if there was a guy on 1st who may have scored, but that's an easy ground rule double call to break up the no hitter once you see that ball hit the chalk.
  6. Can somebody get him to do some sort of wood working project for them?
  7. Perhaps working on something in particular like we heard about Concepcion earlier?
  8. It's amazing that in spite of his knee his defense has been as improved as it (seemingly) is this year.
  9. None, other than the stupid ones anyway. I really thought he should have kept running to 3rd and would have had a decent chance of getting in because of how far the 3B was off the bag.
  10. Nerves from Jokisch in the first couple AA starts with all the walks? Doesn't look like he was having any control issues in Daytona.
  11. Yep, if he can sustain an .800ish OPS, that trade looks way better than it already did. Colvin didn't have anywhere to play this year and we didn't have any viable options at 3B after Ramirez left. It really is strange trying to readjust your thinking to the "new" offensive environment we're in right now.
  12. I would not have guessed in a million years that Brett Gardner would be on a list of top P/PA.
  13. Did anybody else get the email from the Cubs saying tickets were available for the Red Sox series? I clicked on it to see what seats they had and the only ones available for Saturday were bleachers for the previously mentioned $140 price tag. Such a joke. Hope the Boston fans have a good time at Wrigley.
  14. Good lord did Zambrano hit a bomb today. 431 foot shot.
  15. I once witnessed a chick I was out with trip going down some stairs and whack her head on a brick wall. She was nearly comatose before hitting her head and when the hospital ran her BAC, it was .29. You have to get upwards of .30 and near .40 in most cases to get to the point where death is a real possibility. Also, to be functioning at all at .24, you have a hell of a tolerance. He's a bit of a drinker to say the least.
  16. So how do we feel about replay now after Santana gets a BS no hitter because of a missed call?
  17. Gwynn, DeJesus, Hairston, Van Slyke, and ????? Edit: Nevermind, didn't think Dee Gordon was Flash's son.
  18. I didn't realize that he had the same surgery that Santana had. It's really interesting how they're figuring out new ways to improve shoulder all the time. When I had my labrum fixed in 1997, they had to cut me open and when I had a second surgery in 2002 they had progressed to the point they were just scoping it to repair a torn labrum.
  19. It was definitely fair. You could see the mark the ball made in the chalk when they showed it later in the game. Yet another reason to add replay. Thread derail: In that case, the ump called the ball foul, play dead. In perfect-world replay, would that be non-reviewable, or would they go back and if they see it's ruled fair, make a determination of what likely would have happened and award the batter (and any base runners) the bases they likely would have gotten? That one's an easy call. Call it just like you would fan interference if the ball goes up against the stands and give him second base. And didn't they make calls like that reviewable in the post season last year?
  20. Wow, just saw Sori's HR. That was a chest high fastball. I was thinking as I watched that it was unusual for him to get that good of wood on a pitch that high and then Brenly said the same thing. I hope this hot streak lasts for a bit because man, has he been good lately.
  21. Castro was at 15/20 stealing before that play.
  22. It was definitely fair. You could see the mark the ball made in the chalk when they showed it later in the game. Yet another reason to add replay.
  23. Yeah, that was really obvious. Probably the biggest reason I would have thought really hard about taking him out.
  24. And it's done! 1st ever no hitter for the Mets. Couldn't have happened to a better team!
  25. I knew Holliday was going to swing at a fastball close. You see one from Santana close and you almost have to go after it. His velocity is down, but that change up is still nasty as ever.
