    What the hell is going on with all these huge leads in B10 play? These games are usually pretty close, especially when ranked teams are involved, even if they're on the road.

    Well, I think that's good news from a couple different angles. First, he's got his crap together and second, it sounds like he's certainly not interviewing guys just to say he talked to a lot of different candidates.

    Or Griffey, he doesn't really provide a whole lot if he's not making shots. he actually plays good defense, but really, those shots have to fall if he's going to continue shooting Have you looked in the mirror yet and come to acceptance that you are, and I quote, a bunch of "godless chuckers"? DJ is a godless chucker. The rest of them can actually shoot. Although it would be nice if someone besides Paul and Abrams figured out going to the hoop and getting fouled is also a viable way to score.

    At its basic level, Pomeroy's formula takes margin of victory into account, and Wisconsin has a habit of absolutely destroying bad teams. Coupled with their preseason projection based on playing time progression from last year (which put them in the top 10 initially), the overall ranking is going to be hard to adjust without Wisconsin being absolutely terrible this year in conference. Problem is, the formula works really well for the remainder of the non-Wisconsin crowd, so it's a difficult thing to tweak just to try to "fix" one outlier. It's really strange that they are so consistently the outlier though. Even in a constant system like they've got, you would think that things would change over the years with players and abilities moving in and out of the program.

    That's embarrassing. How does a professional organization let that happen to their field? Is it that hard to maintain the field that gets played on 8-10 times a year? Was there recently a soccer or bowl game there or something? It's something that seems all it takes to maintain is resources (ie money) and Dan Snyder doesn't seem to have a shortage or tendency to not spend that. I think several college games were played at Fed Ex this year and Pittsburgh has high school championship games on theirs. I don't know what the excuse in Chicago is.

    Not necessarily for a basketball player. About the only 2 things the labrum affects are lifting things up with your arms extended and throwing. I never really had any issues playing basketball when mine was shredded. It's a pain tolerance thing though, so who knows with Howard.

    Man, I just looked at Illinois' schedule for the rest of the year. Divides into 3 parts pretty easily. If they can win this week @ home vs. Minnesota, that sets them up for what should be no worse than 4-2 in the first 6, possibly 5-1 if they can win in Madison. Then they have a 5 game gauntlet against Michigan, @ MSU, Wisconsin, IU, and @ Minnesota. If they can win a minimum of 2 of those, they then have a pretty soft 7 game stretch to end the season where they should be able to go 5-2 (losses @ Michigan and OSU), putting them at 11-7 in conference. I think that's pretty realistic and probably sets them up for a 4-5 seed in the tourney.

    They're playing outstanding help side defense today. Every time an OSU player gets by his man, there's somebody to challenge the shot coming from the backside.

    Yeah, completely intentional and should have been called. Pretty funny though.

    Well, if you've read what nearly everyone has posted about Bourn, it's all pretty much been an "I'm okay with a 4yr deal for $50-60 million" kind of consensus. Also, factoring in that the Cubs were really terrible last year, you sometimes have to pay a bit of a premium to get guys to come play for you. If that's the case, fine, they can afford it. And if they've deemed they can take the draft pick/pool money hit, well, they're a lot smarter and more plugged in than me so I'll take their word for it.

    A weak RT who has been injured for his first two seasons should not be counted on at all. Yeah, I don't think you can really plan on counting on a guy who's consistently been hurt, especially if it's a knee again.

    Isn't the OL repairable? Given one or two solid additions? Assuming so, and with an offensive HC, it's not all that far reaching the Bears offense could dramatically improve. One or two? Its' going to take at least 4 for the longterm. In the short-term you'd need 2 at the minimum and probably three to actually make it a good line. I would imagine they'd be in pretty decent shape if they can sign Jake Long, draft a guy to play LG and then manage to stay relatively healthy next year. At that point, you've stopped the massive hemorrhaging and can then continue building it for the future. A lot of ifs, but certainly doable.

    And those 5 don't even touch the foul called on Egwu when Hammonds tripped over his own two feet and lost his balance in the middle of the lane without the ball.

    I'm not either, simply saying that having some good things said about you by Manning may build him a little good will with Cutler and make him a bit more willing to listen to what he has to say.

    my problem with that kind of ideology is that sometimes you need to force people to develop. cutler can do all the crap that tice wanted him to do, too. that wasn't the problem. I get the impression that he's not a buffoon like Tice, so that may help.

    That was the game Gruden and Tirico called, so it must have been Michigan-South Carolina. They were comparing it to the Redskins formations with RGIII.

    Well yeah, but Purdue was fouling and not getting called. There weren't bad calls against Illinois for the most part, just a lack of fouls against Purdue that should have been called. Now, that doesn't excuse a lot of the dumb things Illinois did, like failing to go to the hole when they couldn't hit a jumper to save their lives.
