  1. Baez with 2 more nice plays at short. One in the hole on a ball Geiger should have gotten to and didn't and the other on a sharply hit ball back up the middle. Chen with 2 solidly hit balls so far. One right at the 2B and the other for a single between short and third.
  2. Ok, I'm in love with Baez. Geiger just got crossed up by a runner going in front of him and booted a ball. Baez backed him up, grabbed it in shallow left and gunned the guy at home very easily. Guy has a cannon. He flied out to right on the first pith of his second AB.
  3. Devoss with 2 walks in 2 PA. Balaguert looked awful swinging at one up in his eyes and one that bounced a foot in front of the plate for strikes 2 and 3. Baez made a nice play in the first on a high hopper that took a funny bounce. Waited on it and then showed off the arm. Geiger just drilled one into the gap that the RF made a solid play on. Nothing impressive from Easterling yet, well other than the physique of course. ;-)
  4. Baez just hit a towering shot to straight away left. I got it on video on my phone and will try to post later tonight.
  5. I'm going to be in Peoria this week. Should I go to the Wednesday or Thursday game?
  6. Is Soto officially becoming a platoon player?
  7. I was at the Twins/Royals game on Sunday and he hit two out. The fans love him because they can yell "PLOOOOOOOOOUUUUUFFE" when he does something good. Pretty good place to see a game too. Sat in the 300 level about even with 3rd base and had a really good view and was in the shade the whole game. Got seat for $20 that had a face of $25, so I was happy with that too.
  8. What was the actual start time? This thing is flying by.
  9. That's definitely not true. From the OP: There's no way they they have access to all of CSN, Fox Wisconsin, Minnesota, KC, and St. Louis in Iowa where you can't watch those on MLB.TV. Certain areas of the state probably have access to some of those channels, but it would take actual to figure out who does and doesn't that MLB just takes the easy way out and blacks out everybody.
  10. So the same kinda thing Manny got busted for the first time, right? Close, that was Clomid, a drug used to help women get pregnant . Tamoxifen actually also binds to estrogen receptors like Clomid. Actually Tamoxifen's used for certain types of breast cancer. That's why it sounded familiar to me.
  11. Train wreck effect and all I suppose.
  12. Can I get a link to show me when Ramirez hit .100 for 2 straight months? Oh, and also a link to show me where he ignored his hitting coach during the linked streak from my first question.
  13. This is why I love this site. Well said. Yeah, it would have taken me an hour of internet surfing to get that through my thick skull without that concise summary. Thanks!
  14. I think the discussion Len and Bob had about it last night was about right. Let the ump know you'd like him to use a different glove and don't make a big deal of it unless he refuses to change it. End of story. No ratting anybody out, no disadvantage to the Nationals.
  15. i remember reading - i think this was even before the draft - that there didn't seem to be anything mechanically wrong with his swing. not a slow bat or stepping in the bucket. he just swings and misses a lot, but then he also squares up a lot of balls when he does make contact. seems pretty weird. I'm honestly baffled with Brett Jackson. I'm still a fan, but honestly, there's been guys with bigger issues than Brett that struck out less than Brett. It's odd, you'd think for such an ... intriguing prospect ... that someone more knowledgeable would've done some swing analysis on him. There just doesn't seem to be any major issue with Brett, unless he's having problems with breaking balls ... it seems to be a lot of small issues lumping together into a gigantic mass of bad this year. Somebody mentioned Lasik the other day. I'm beginning to wonder if there might be something to the thought of a vision issue.
  16. So a guy coming off knee surgery, specifically a catcher, playing the most stressful position on the field, should be expected to start every day straight off the DL? That's some sound logic right there.
  17. Be nice if Wells could hit his spots as well as he did on that first pitch to AJ all the time.
  18. BA scouting report indicates he's 86-92 with a 73-78 curve, backdoor slider and changeup. "A junkballer with excellent pitchability." That sounds a lot like Lilly, right down to the velocity. Although I don't really remember Lilly ever throwing a slider.
  19. So you don't think the new hitting philosophy being preached throughout the system has any possibility of making an improvement in Vitters' approach? That makes me think you're a low ceiling bore of a fan.
  20. So is Rizzo now the MiL HR leader? I saw that Eldred signed with the Hiroshima Carp.
  21. I'm just saying that didn't look like what happened with vintage Marmol, and that calling what he did vintage is a bit of a stretch. He was decent Marmol, as opposed to wildly erratic Marmol. But vintage Marmol was on a whole other planet. He's somewhere in between awful and vintage, but the knee buckling slider he threw for the K to the 1st batter was about as close to vintage as I think he's going to get.
  22. No, their ASG was yesterday. Only AAA still has theirs around the big league one. The futures game is still around the MLB ASG, correct? Yep, saw Castro play in it a few years ago when the ASG was in St. Louis. I wish he was still wearing high socks like he did in that game.
  23. There's that slider that looks like it's going to hit you in the belly button and ends up over the plate.
