    I don't know how Cespedes 4/36 contract will end up looking in the long run, but the 3/21 contract to Josh Willingham is looking pretty good. He's at .305/.418/.598 thus far. He might not keep up that pace, but he's pretty much always been a mid .800s OPS guy and his D is pretty much on par with Sorianos. How is that relevant to the Cubs in any way?

    Bottom of the 9th with a chance to win and a reasonably fast runner? I've seen a lot worse sends than that. Castro and LaHair coming up makes it worse, but not a terrible send IMO.

    Chris Davis just got the win for Baltimore against Boston. 0 for 7 with 6 Ks and 2 IP with 0 runs allowed.

    If he was so great he would have helped himself out. It's just frustrating that guys in front of him and behind him aren't doing much of anything. Soriano cannot move him over at the least. There's a K :( If he was so great he would have to rely on other guys to move him over, much less drive him home. What I'm saying is that he's a bum. LaHair is a big fat bum unless he hits a home run every time he comes to the plate. I hope you don't poop in his spot in the dugout too.

    He's not due up until 7th unless the Dodgers get to cheat.

    MLB Network had video from YES and it looked ugly. He was reaching up for a fly ball and got off balance. When his right foot hit the ground, the knee buckled and he went down. He was writhing in pain and then got carried to the golf cart they hauled him off on. I'll be surprised if he's not out for a while with some sort of surgery based on how awkwardly he went down.

    The only thing more painful than him doing a game at all is when he and Buck are tonguing the Cardinals junk when they do one of their games together.

    Especially with a quality arm throwing home. He's just so damn fast!

    I don't think he's a long term solution to anything really, but how many of these guys that have ended up as busts put together consistently good late inning at bats like LaHair has been? The AB against Motte where he fouled off 6 straight pitches gives me hope that his approach has advanced enough that even when the peripherals normalize a bit, he'll still be reasonably productive. And by reasonably productive, I'm talking .850ish OPS.

    Yeah, I had a 90% labral tear and while I certainly didn't have Dr. Andrews doing the surgery, I had a really good doc and my shoulder is screwed and has been for 15 years. You lose so much flexibility because of the way they have to put everything back together that it's really pretty tough to regain the velocity you had pre-surgery. Sucks for them that they gave up the bat they did to get him. That may end up being a complete swindle by the Mariners, not that they did anything shady.

    This was made all the sweeter by my neighbor the Cards fan texting me after the Holliday homer to talk trash. Still haven't heard anything from him after the game winner. Also, that Geo/LaHair thing looks like some kind of baseball porn. It's awesome and really weird at the same time.
