  1. Yeah I was just going to post that. Didn't look at all of them in too much detail, but the Cubs team was by far the worst I saw on there. Here's your starters: Catcher: Soto 1B: Vitters 2B: Barney SS: Castro 3B: Donaldson OF: Lake, Colvin, Fuld Jesus Christ. The rotation there is solid and the pen probably wouldn't be any worse than it's been this year. Why don't they get credit for Wellington? He's been way better than Soto this year.
  2. If they sign one of the FA OF there's no way they keep both of them. I'd be surprised if they deal Lake, especially with budget uncertainty and the need to have some sort of production out there long term until Almora et al are ready. Why wouldn't they want an outfield of DeJesus/Free Agent/Schierholtz with Lake as the 400 PA bench guy? That seems ideal to me.

  4. Hey, they won last night with a shutout in St. Louis for the first time since 1997! Let's do it again and hopefully they can put this Michael Wacha is awesome thing Cardinals fans have going to bed a bit. Cubs DeJesus, D, CF Lake, J, LF Rizzo, A, 1B Castillo, W, C Schierholtz, N, RF Castro, S, SS Ransom, C, 3B Barney, D, 2B Villanueva, C, P Cards Carpenter, M, 2B Beltran, C, RF Craig, A, 1B Holliday, M, LF Freese, D, 3B Jay, J, CF Johnson, R, C Descalso, D, SS Wacha, M, P
  5. I was surprised he hadn't been mentioned yet.
  6. Please win the series so I don't have to listen to rampant douchebaggery all weekend. That is all.
  7. He's on vacation and this guy is terrible. I think I'd rather let Moreland do PBP.
  8. And they may have broken Shelby Miller last night too. That was an ugly liner off the elbow.
  9. I'm sure a lot of us do feel that way about our schools. The difference is, had Manziel done all of the above while at Iowa for example, I'd probably be saying something like "what a dumbass" rather than trying to legitimize the dumb [expletive] he did. Every university has their skeletons, and a whole lot of athletes do a whole lot of really stupid stuff. There's way too much smoke for there not to be a fire somewhere, and pretending otherwise is foolish. Go back and re-read my posts. I've ripped him for a lot of the dumb [expletive] he's done this offseason and I said in the last day or two that he's most likely guilty. Not even sure why I'm bothering to respond to you, but I actually have an Aggie Ring and a degree from Texas A&M. The Texas Southern grads are the ones with the burnt orange uterus on their chest. wut The Longhorn emblem.
  10. And it will be glorious!
  11. Yep, and if he does become big time, I'm going to just enjoy how much Cardinals fans will piss and moan about him being too cocky and not playing the game the right way.
  12. My influence is often underestimated, but I'm not responsible for the Nationals' sucking in the post-Montreal era. If the argument is that the Cubs needed to expedite the rebuilding process because they were so terrible that they were starting with nothing, wouldn't going back to the beginning of the Nats' sucking be the logical starting point? No, and you know that. You may have to go back a bit before Rizzo, but all the terribleness under Bowden certainly can't be counted because of a complete change in philosophy/level of competence.
  13. I'm sure he wasn't. But that's what happened. At the end of the day, we don't have a good role model for a major-market franchise just flat-out tanking in order to expedite a rebuilding. That's why so many of us were flat-out adamant that they would not be doing that when Epstein was hired. But pointing to successful teams that developed prospects isn't particularly accurate or helpful to illuminating the Cubs' position or the viability of their plan. Well, yeah, but then they changed the rules on how you can spend money on amateurs, which severely handcuffed what would have been the way they went about rebuilding. They could have bought all the over slot and IFA guys they wanted and not had to sell off anything and everything to get as many decent prospects as possible. I don't think it would have been entirely different, but there certainly would have been some noticeable changes in the way they approached a rebuild if not for the new CBA.
  14. He did make a hell of a throw from the track last night that nailed the cutoff man who made the relay to the plate to get a guy that would have tied the game at the time. The guy is amazingly athletic and has a cannon. He made a couple throws last night that you don't see too often.
  15. Look at you taking all your "dates" to a fancy Hilton instead of the typical motel. I expense that [expletive] The room, the dates, or both? If both, can I get a job there?
  16. It is vindictive, apparently due to him trying to interfere with the investigation. Melky tried to interfere way worse. A-Rod is a first class dick bag, but I do think they're trying to make an example here. Problem for me is that they should have done this to Braun if they wanted to make an example of someone. A-Rod's career is practically over anyway. Witness intimidation, recruiting players to Biogenesis, and trying to buy records to destroy them are all a whole lot worse than creating a fake website.
  17. I went to the Dodgers-Cardinals game last night and got to see Puig up close. Man, that dude is a cocky bastard. Just the way he carries himself and there were a couple fly balls hit to him where he just lollygagged over to it and almost didn't make the play on one of them. I think he's not too far from getting a few in the ribs to make a point.
  18. On the one hand, I tend to think it's much more about picking the right guys than it is about player development. On the other, when you're as far on the extreme end of bad in that department, the fact that we've gone from that to very good player development is probably extreme enough that it's a factor (in terms of comparing our past track record with prospects). I don't know, the Cardinals development system seems to have produced a pretty good number of hitters who really weren't all that heralded when they picked them up. Obviously they have to have talent, but I think some organizations have a knack for bringing it out much better than others.
  19. Why? The Law of Averages? No no no. It's Kyle's injury nexus.
  20. Samardzija looks like skinny Kenny Powers.
  21. Wood getting BABIPed to death this inning.
  22. I'm answering on the job he's done as a whole. While he really does a lot of things right, the one area that a manager has the most effect on a game he's completely awful at and hasn't made any improvement whatsoever. I'm not even blaming him for the pen being bad, but when you make the asinine decisions he does game after game, there's a point at which it is on him and not just bad pitching.
  23. Yes, I do. And I'm sure they'll cross the lost draft pick bridge when it becomes an issue. As it sits right now, they have the 9th worst record in the league and it would currently be protected. Did anybody not sign a top 10 pick this year?
  24. Maybe this will shut up some of the people who have way overrated Nate Shierholtz. I'm sure if several team gm's had thought the club's price tag was reasonable Nate would be sporting different colors and would not be penciled in the lineup for right field tonight. Good news for Shierholtz fans - he won't make it through waivers. Bad news is I don't think he will have more value than he did this afternoon. You're right, he wont. But the price tag was obviously as high as it was because the Cubs find him to be more valuable to them than whatever was being offered. They do have to field a team next year and having his production penciled into the lineup against rightys everyday is a nice option to have rather than getting some A baller or middling AAA guy who may or may not help next year.
  25. Will Hendricks see Iowa this year or will they wait on that for next year?
