  1. Can Bosio teach him the magic cutter?
  2. That was a very Cub way to give up the tying run.
  3. Jackson missed his spot badly and Castillo had to reach all the way across his body to catch it. That doesn't excuse the ump from not calling it a strike, but it certainly wasn't Castillo's fault like Kyle might want you to believe.
  4. Ha! I am debating which is douchier-his tweet or hashtags #classlesscubs #notworried. How is it one of the best franchises in MLB history still has the whiniest bitch fans? No idea, but I immediately posted the link to FB just to see what kind of crap I can stir amongst their most loyal.
  5. Seems like really good performances from most of the key minor leaguers outside of injuries. Keep 'em coming!
  6. I didn't see anything after the 2nd, but - was there a big discrepancy? Were the tv or radio guys commenting on it? Wainright was getting a pretty generous outside corner to at least lefties and Rusin threw 2 straight pitches at one point on opposite edges of the plate that I thought both looked like strikes and neither one got called.
  7. It's really amazing how different the strike zones are for Wainwright vs. the Cubs pitchers.
  8. Are these guys not taught to take the damn out when it's there? There should be 2 out in the inning already and there's none and nothing was gained by taking the dumb chances they did.
  9. i considered that as a hit attempt, it's not really ever a sacrifice with a runner on the corners unless you're having an inept pitcher bunt there It was a safety squeeze, that's definitely a sacrifice attempt.
  10. You missed the fail by Kalish last night for sure and maybe one other.
  11. Olt isn't healthy so your platoon call on him is premature. It may end up being the case, but calling it that right now is incorrect. He's magically healthy enough to face lefties but too ouchy to play against righties? No, too ouchy to play every day. It's in print somewhere. You did notice he got pulled from the game after his hit last night because he tweaked the shoulder diving back to 1st base right?
  12. This is a thread for the bad things. In case you're confused, which it seems you are. I'd rather just start the season by platooning our castoffs and actually giving the higher ceiling guys a chance to sink or swim, as the big leagues are the final step in player development. This. If you don't think Olt can be an every day player, just say so and go look for the next 3B. I don't mind it with fringy players, but the idea that a core player gets to the majors and suddenly can only hit one type of pitching is absurd. Olt isn't healthy so your platoon call on him is premature. It may end up being the case, but calling it that right now is incorrect.
  13. I don't want to give up on him, I just think he needs some low leverage situations to get his [expletive] back together and he needs to be not giving away games while he figures it out. He's had two save situations. Jerking him around in the pen probably isn't going to help the situation when it's two save situations. If he was a 24 yr old guy getting his first chance to close, yeah, I can see that. He's a 33 yr old that has both set up and closed before. I don't think it matters much for a guy like him. You tell him to relax and start throwing strikes and he goes back to closing.

  16. He did. Basically said Rosenthal had thrown 6 pitches and he wanted him out there again. Apparently there's some trust issues with the guys he had left in the pen based on what the Cards announcers were saying.
  17. If they make a change, probably Strop Agreed. You've got 3 pretty good late inning options in him, Grimm and Rondon until Veras figures out how to throw a strike again.
  18. Yeah, to a point, but when the decisions are as bad as they've been tonight it's a problem. Now, if he fixes Castro, that gives him a pretty long rope.
  19. I would have been happier if he didn't do dumb [expletive] to make the game 2 innings longer than it needed to be. Then I also wouldn't completely hate him right now.
  20. Holy [expletive] Castillo. BOMB!
  21. Quit dicking around with the offspeed stuff and just throw it by him.
  22. Interesting choice by Matheny here. I'd be pissed as a fan at this decision.
  23. That's simply not true. Most of them it's because they don't have a quality 3rd pitch to be a starter. Really, you're going to sit there and say it's not true that relievers are the most volatile and unpredictable position in baseball? I didn't say that at all. I said that most of them are relievers because they don't have a quality 3rd pitch. It's absolutely the most unpredictable position in the game.
