  1. Of course the Cardinals win 1-0 on a HR by Molina on a day we lose 1-0 in 10.
  2. 12. Mostly because there will never be anybody on base and when there is they'll hit like .100.
  3. Ha! He does. Bruno looks a lot like DeJesus to me.
  4. So a shoulder to a guy's head is clean? I'm not a hockey nut, but that just seems counter intuitive to me based on all the emphasis on concussions. Can you explain?
  5. I'm gonna go a different direction on Kentucky's play of late, probably because I absolutely hate Calipari. They've no doubt played at an extremely high level the last 2 weeks, but why couldn't he get them to play this hard all season? I mean, I can understand having some inconsistency with that many freshman, but I don't think they were really interested in putting forth a whole lot of effort until recently and I think Calipari's frustration throughout the season bears that out. That team he had 2 years ago with unibrow got it, but that was probably because they had some upper class guys setting the tone on what was expected day in and day out. It would have been interesting to see what they could have done with this kind of effort all year.
  6. It's much less about the end result for me that it is how they got there. In both cases, the officials completely botched the play and potentially affected the outcome of the game by interrupting the flow of play. Other than rooting for my bracket, I had no interest in either outcome, I just want to see refs stop inserting themselves into outcomes when they should keep the whistle in their pocket. As physical as the play has been most of this tournament, they haven't seemed to have a problem doing that except in the last few minutes of games.
  7. WTF are they looking at now? Or are they debating how shitty the foul call was and just deciding to give it to AZ?
  8. I think that's got to be a no call there, not because he didn't push off, but because the defensive player initiated the contact to begin with.
  9. This has been an ugly game to watch. I'm pretty sure a lot of it has to do with the fact that the refs are allowing things on the court that would be considered simple assault by a lot of cops.
  10. So you're saying you've gotten into Kent Mercker's pants?
  11. True story: I found out my mom is totally a "DEY TOOK ER JERRRRRRRBS"-type when it comes to non-Americans in American pro sports because of Andres [expletive]' Nocioni. Of ALL of the people to inspire such a terrible, terrible rant, HE'S the one that does it??!? I had to read that like 6 times before I figured out WTF you were trying to say.
  12. This was very similar to my thought process and I also ended up picking ARam.
  13. And where's Theriot????????
  14. I just got an email from the Cubs about opening day tickets so I figured I'd just look and see what was available. Holy [expletive] the fees! 20% of the final price of the ticket. I think I'm most amused by the fact that there's a tax on the City of Chicago Fee.
  15. Not sure if it's a gift since they have to work for it, but I imagine it will be taxable. That is what I have been thinking. If the scholarships for these players is going to start being classified as compensation as an employee of the university there would have to be some kind of tax implications I would think. If that's the case, does the NCAA pull some BS declaring that they're no longer amateurs and now aren't eligible?
  16. I'm pretty sure he just died. Nvm, that was the Lions owner.
  17. Well then you better clone a hitter worthy of getting slot at 4. Draft someone who won't sign and take the fifth pick next year. That's honestly not a terrible idea if they're not enamored with anybody at that slot this year. It'll cost them a bunch of slot money, but if they like some of the guys that will be eligible next year it could work out. The uncertainty of players draft to draft makes that a huge risk though.
  18. You could go JR Towles or NSBBlol for Meph and be good too.
  19. Well, at least that's a good reason to be splitting time at this point. Hopefully once the shoulder is 100%, we'll see some Valbuena at 2B and Olt at 3B pretty much every day.
  20. Why would that make you nervous, exactly? I meant because he *only* pitched that, then Rusin came in. I was thinking that for the last start of the spring, he might throw more, so leaving after three innings makes me wonder if he's hurt. They mentioned that during the last game he started on TV that he would go 6 IP/100 pitches in his next start and then dial it back from there to be fresh for opening day, so it was definitely scheduled.
  21. Barney has more value but my disdain is such that I still almost would have rather him gone. I don't really care who went, I just hope they put the best players out there on a daily basis and guys aren't getting PT just to build value. If that's Bonifacio and Valbuena most of the time, fine. I get the need to keep Barney though, since there's really no other viable backup to Castro.
  22. I asked this in the game thread yesterday but I'll put it here too: For you swing experts out there: Is it possible that there's something to Mueller getting Lake's hands quieter before the swing that's clicked here at the end of spring that's going to make a long term difference? From everyone who's scouted him, all the raw tools are there and just need some fine tuning.

  24. Almora mad a catch at the wall and hurt something. Hard to tell what because he didn't really hit the wall. It almost looked like his knee buckled as he made the catch, but Lake waved a trainer out there right away. No idea what it is at this point.
