  1. I feel like he's permanently broken. Between the beaning and how bad he's been this year, I just don't think there's much left other than a good Twitter follow. His peripherals have been pretty damn good this year. 3.69 FIP 2.87 xFIP and a 1.5 fWAR despite having that ugly 4.63 ERA. That .347 BABIP isn't helping I'm going to claim battered fan syndrome because of Jaxon.
  2. Saying that makes you as dumb as the people who rank Eli and Ben highly because of the rings. I just realized/remembered that Kaepernick didn't play in 2011, so if that's what you were referring to by saying I'm stupid, I totally agree. No, I was going with the team achievements=high ratings for the QB nonsense. If you wanted to cite some individual thing, fine, but not that his team has been to 3 straight NFC championship games. I agree that he's rated too low, by the way, just not with your reasoning.

  5. he's a veteran quad-a catcher, dude. those guys ooze credibility out their asses. Ew.
  6. I didn't mean the ball should be dead in case of an injury. Poorly worded. If a fan interferes, the runners can't advance regardless.
  7. He just needs to put some chub back on and he'll be fine.
  8. because then a defender would leap into the stands with the ball to prevent the runners from advancing. I see no reason it should be a dead ball. If the fielder breaks a leg going into the stands and can't get a throw off fine, but the runners should have to advance at their own risk. It was enforced correctly, but it's just a dumb assed rule.
  9. Man, Rizzo annihilated that ball. And quickly.
  10. I almost got arrested for running intervals on a high school track in Southaven, MS. The old codger who came out to yell at me was piiiiisssssed. How dare I use the track for it's intended purpose!
  11. I was amused by this phrasing after the discussion earlier this week.
  12. For some reason I thought Lovie was crazy religious at the time, too. He's not?
  13. They said he'd get a few games at catcher here and there during the year, but he'd play mostly OF in 2014. Then they'll bring him to fall instructs and work with him. I have a hard time imagining how delaying his catching instruction will be all that helpful to teaching him how to be a catcher. I would venture to guess that it has more to do with keeping him fresh physically than it does anything else. You get him in instructs and he can work more on catching without worrying about the everyday grind of playing games on top of it.
  14. .288/.361/.515 Streak or overall?
  15. Why do people keep saying he can't go to college? He can go to any JC he wants and be eligible again next year. No, he can't go to UCLA, but he can go to college.
  16. looks like a propane grill with no propane tank and likely a pile of coals with a crap ton of lighter fluid. Nope.
  17. Huh? He's had to pay huge fines for among other things, not hiring blacks because, "you can't fire them" and women because they have babies. His company has provided bribes and kick backs to defense contractors. They let him buy the team so they could move them to the AL. How does this situation "go to show you" anything about that? Probably because it's another thing that could have been avoided if the owner wasn't a huge dick. I mean, if the most renowned living TJS surgeon says you're fine, then you're probably fine and the team trying to sign you should stop trying to lowball you so they can sign another guy too. It may be the GM doing this in particular, but the tone is set from the top down.
  18. Does a crappy defensive catcher really kill you that much? As long as he's not giving up a TON of passballs and is totally incapable of throwing even slow base stealers out I feel like a catchers defense may not be as important as purists make it seem. Has their been any research on this besides for Joe Buck's opinions? Yes, it does. Go look at some of the games Jake Fox caught and tell me it doesn't matter. I have no idea if Schwarber will be bad, but if he is, it will make a difference.
  19. Only if you're a nutty Celtics fan.
  20. His name used to be Mike. What did you expect?
  21. Go read the 8-9 page thread in the minors section from the other day.
  22. Well played. And I didn't get that until you replied.......
  23. Goddman, that's how that started? I had a family wedding that day, so I didn't see any of it until the reception and it was already like the 3rd. Kinda had the meatball doom boner going with the the way the series had already gone, so I took a LOT of advantage of that free bar. Yeah, I had paid an exorbitant amount for tickets and drove up from St. Louis the day of the game. Complete and total suck.
  24. Not bad for 40. Also, somebody needs to put a knife in McCutchan's hand and that can be the new little kid in the party hat with a knife OMC gif.
  25. I've been to several home playoff games, including NLCS game 6 in '03 and the '98 Wild Card clincher. The moment when DeRosa stepped up to the plate is the loudest I've ever heard Wrigley while in attendance. I couldn't hear my own yelling. And when he GIDP, the silence was deafening. It could not have possibly been quieter than it was when one pitch Rich gave up the HR to Chris Young on the first effing pitch of the game. That place was a graveyard after that the rest of the night.
