  1. Showalter is on the verge of doing something really smart if Tillman can't get this guy. Love it.
  2. Bengals D @ NE or Lions D home against Buffalo
  3. You of all people are going to try to say that having extra money(and not a trifling amount either) to spend is meaningless? You're going to approach an offseason with X to spend differently than when you have X -15 million to spend. Plus we're talking about a multi-year deal here. Without Soriano, maybe they would've been able to more easily stretch for a guy like Sanchez or [insert your 'IFA that got away' here] knowing that for half the deal they'd have ~20% more payroll available to them. Maybe Scott Baker becomes Liriano instead, I dunno. I do know that when you're working with financial limitations, having a huge chunk of your payroll in one post-prime player who later was traded and became dead money is going to make a material difference in your planning. My opinion is that thus far their strategy is that they have a number they feel a guy is worth and they won't go much beyond that. Maybe this changes now that they're interested in being good, but in previous seasons I don't buy it. This is reasonable and believable, and also probably right.
  4. St. Louis mayor's response to this: http://online.wsj.com/articles/st-louis-to-america-dont-be-jealous-1412273454 And SB Nation's response to that: http://www.sbnation.com/2014/10/2/6895281/mayor-st-louis-responds-cardinals-hateability-pompous-ass
  5. This is Mojo's doesn't tip on a haircut. It's on the sandwich "tree," or however you want to put it, but it's different enough in terms of expectations and construction to be it's own thing, just like a hot dog. So the hot dog is on the sandwich tree. Is that like the ticket oak? And where can I get one? That sounds really convenient and pretty awesome.
  6. Why? He hit him in the chest/stomach with his shoulder. Or is that commentary on awful officiating?
  7. He also didn't have a history of debilitating plantar fasciitis like Noah that I can say, speaking from experience, does in fact get irritated with more stress put on it. Between that and the deep front court they'll have, there's zero reason to play Noah more than 30-32 minutes a game. Aren't all the doctors saying plantar faciatis comes and goes regardless of stress? Even so do you think 3 minutes on the court makes a difference? If it does than limit what he does in practice. No, individually 3-5 minutes a game won't make a difference, but you add that up over 82 games and it's 240-400 minutes, or like playing an additional 8-12 games, and yes, that does make a difference. Doctors who haven't had PF can go jump in a lake. Mine acts up much worse when I'm running 50 miles a week than it does when I'm running 30 miles a week.

  9. these are two different things. a burrito isn't a type of taco nor is a taco a type of burrito. a pancake isn't a type of waffle and a waffle isn't a type of pancake. they're just similar foods. They're the same things. They just vary in size and/or preparation, but the necessary ingredients are the same. But then we perceive them as different foods. Because they just are. http://img.pandawhale.com/89952-master-strokes-beard-gif-Kill-bdei.gif No, the thing that makes a burrito not a taco is the inclusion of beans. No beans, it's a taco, beans and it's a burrito. I can't be on your side in this argument, it's too weird and specific.
  10. I was listening to that show when they were talking about it yesterday. Karraker is a complete homer blow hard, but is likely pretty well connected to those who would have this knowledge, thought his was pretty much laid out as a speculative but I know something type deal. Based on some of the things I hear regularly around here, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if it happened because there's been absolutely no movement on getting anything done stadium wise here.
  11. Looks more like they're prying the statue loose from the base to move it somewhere while work is being done to me.
  12. Good lord, that's a 2 seamer? That's not fair.
  13. My opponent had Asiata, Donnell, and Jordy Nelson. Fortunately, he left Tannehill on the bench, Foles was terrible, and Atlanta's defense got pounded so I won by 11.
  14. You're bad at sandwiches if bread is ever the main ingredient.
  15. Man, that was some awful play calling in OT. You should drink.
  16. And I know there's not usually much argument for canning a coach mid-season, but these guys look to have quit on Hoke already.
  17. It's glorious!

    Ryder Cup

So we were down 5-3 coming into today and it's now 6-5. I'm not sure I've ever seen all four guys completely crap the bed the way the last group just did on 17 with the match all square.
  19. I found 7. Honus Wagner played his first 3 seasons for the Louisville Colonels pre-1900, and then his team basically merged with the Pittsburgh franchise, where he played the rest of his career, but I guess you have to consider that playing for 2 teams, so he doesn't count as an 8th guy. I was missing who I was somehow convinced also spent time with the Twins. ETA: So I basically decided that it had to be Honus Wagner. That was Molitor.
  20. Who in the hell is Larry Donnell and how in the [expletive] is he starting against me? 3TDs? You've got to be kidding.
  21. Those guys are just annoying. I hope Jason Whitlock gets hit by a bus.
  22. honestly i have no idea how you guys have the energy to still be at all wrapped up in the outcome of these games. that's not a criticism or anything. i'm over here giving myself credit for even watching i'm still holding out hope that the pirates can miraculously overtake the cards for the division. plus it's the cardinals so [expletive] them, they deserve to lose. Yeah, pretty much this. Living amongst them has made me a bitter, bitter man.
  23. I would be pretty shocked to see that happen because those big market teams are the ones that are drawing the most fans to MLBTV. That would completely undercut their whole business model if they did away with the tax and more than a couple big market teams went for it, and I have to believe the Yankees for sure would do it since they've already got their own network.
  24. The Cardinals announcers are so smarmy and douchey that I can't even come up with words to explain how terrible they are. And McCarver is still friggin' senile.
