  1. The Yankees need a CF badly to get either of those players im guessing there is no way they would do a deal withoug Pie being involved in it. They dont need a 1b they have Giambi signed for a long time so It would take more the Dopriak.
  2. NOBODY CARES ABOUT WINS AND THEY ARENT HELPING YOUR ARGUMENT WINS ARE MEANINGLESS I am not saying Carp should be the Cy Young winner. But to say that wins are meaningless is wrong. Because baseball writers who vote for the Cy Young historically look at wins, and how the team does. I think Clemens should win it because of his ERA. But voters vote for wins and they proved that last year when Clemens won it.
  3. Gibson finished with an ERA of 1.12 so it will be the lowest since then not 1910.
  4. Looks like Larussa is pulling the anti-Dusty. Dusty wont play rookies and Tony wont sit him. Taguchi is batting well over .300 and slugging 500 since the all-star break. Rodriguez couldnt hit an offspeed pitch to save his life. Plus he cant run bases and is bad definsevly yet he is playing over So.
  5. Box scores and links to the box scores are edited in to the first post of these threads. Thanks, I didnt realize they were links.
  6. Hey DJAXX what was the score to the Peoria game, and since im a Cards fan how do you think Webber looked in his first start there.
  7. Wow Marquis got squeezed on the last 2 pitches.
  8. Dont know if anyone is going to or gonna watch teh Peoria game, but I saw that Webber got called up by the Cardinals. I have heard pretty good things about him as well so far, so if anyone goes I would love to hear their impressions of him. Thank you very much.
  9. Well this is gonna be a long day, the Cards have wasted 2 scoring chances with bad baserunning. With Marquis against Zambrano you cant do that so looks like it may be a long day.
  10. I have a feeling Z would literally break Taguchi were he to charge the mound. It would not be pretty I have that feeling too, but never underestimate the power of Taguchi.
  11. I hope he hits Taguchi and he pulls out some of his moves and Judo chops Zambrano in the throat then karate kicks him that would be funny.
  12. Het Rocket is that an Eagles of Death Metal avatar? If so they are awesome.
  13. He seemed to be really hard to hit (only 3 H allowed in 5.2 IP), but he lacked the command of the strikezone needed to keep guys off the basepaths (5 BBs). Nevertheless, he didn't seem to be wild, which I remember being a knock on him coming into the draft. Promising enough start for some one who just got drafted, imo. Thanks outshined, this is pretty much what I have heard about him good stuff but control issues. Hopefully he can get that fixed. If he does do you think that he could be quality major league arm?
  14. Well first of all Winn isnt on Seattle anymore he got traded. Also if you think that Cpatt or Cedeno could get Guardado a proven veteran closer you are crazy they could get much more then that from other teams.
  15. Got a question for who ever saw the Peoria game. How did McCormick look I have heard nothing but good things about him.
  16. I dont think this one is gonna work out well for the Cardinal either, luckily the Cards have Carpenter going on sat to stop the 2 game slide after tomorrow.
  17. Well, then you don't know jack. I agree with you. Nomar hasn't really done squat for the Cubs. Injured, or not, he has really been pretty much a non-factor. Well I figured I would get attacked because Nomar seems to be a very popular player and well liked by the cubs fans.
  18. Oh yeah your right I am an idiot I forgot that he got recalled to AA.
  19. Hey if its Quad City you will get to see Ankiel hit a few homers for ya.
  20. I know that I am gonna get attacked for this, but how was the Nomar trade any good except for the fact that you guys got Murton. I know Nomar has been hurt, but you have to take that into consideration when you look back at the trade. IT seemed like a great trade at the time and it appears they didnt give up that much, but they have paid Nomar an awful lot of money for what 6 home runs and 26 rbis. I think it could have been a steal but has turned out to be a bust so far. If they resign him and he does well next year it could still turn out ok. But so far it has done very little to help the Cubs.
  21. I got lucky and meant to hit the decline button on a trade where I got Zito and gave the guys El Duque. I hit the accept button on accident, but it has worked out well. Zito has been one of the best pitchers in the league since.
  22. I think it comes down to the old adage the good teams find ways to win games. The Cards seem to find ways to win alot more then teams do against them. Weither it is a squeeze to win or a grand slam, they always seem to show up big in the late innings and win the games. I think alot of that goes back to the coaches. Dusty does not seem to be a great game coach. Sure Larussa over manages alot, but he seems to be a good game coach. Also Larussas teams always seems to have a good bench even going back to the A's teams he had. He seems to have a knack of getting guys in the game in situations they will be more likely to succeed.
  23. Im not saying that the Cards are or are not overachieving, but the Cards score more runs because they play good fundamental baseball. The reason the cubs dont score as many runs is they have no plate discipline, they dont move runners as long that well, and they dont run the bases well. The question of scoring more runs than the Cardinals has nothing to do with over or underachieving and more to do with the fact the Cardinals are a good fundamental team and the Cubs are not.
  24. Beane came out and said that Marquis was never in any of the talks, Haren was the main part if the deal for them.
  25. that would be nice but I don't think Marquis would clear waivers. Yeah I agree, that is why I dont see it happening.
