  1. Were not gonna use Marquis in the playoffs anyway, Suppan will be the 4th starter if its needed. If Reyes can pitch well and we could somehow trade Marquis over the waiver wire for a hitter I would be very happy. But I dont see that happening.
  2. This is just a reporter from a fan site reporting this, so its not official yet but lets hope it is true.
  3. Havent heard who they are sending down but he woudl be my guess. Here is a link, you have to pay to get the whole article, but at least you can see that they are reporting his callup http://stlcardinals.scout.com/index.html
  4. The Cardnials are going to give their starters some time off and have Reyes come up and do some spot starts. He makes his debut tomorrow night. I am excited, he is their top pitching prospect and if he can come up and do well he should earn a spot in the rotation next year.
  5. Those are all very good points Vance and your right it all depends on how they do the rest of their careers. Just a question do you think that having 7 gold gloves and he has a good chance of winning a few more makes up somewhat for an MVP. I know an MVP is clearly much better but if Edmonds gets 8 or 9 gold gloves that is also very impressive especially for an outfielder.
  6. You were on the fence with Chipper yet you're against Edmonds? Chipper's OPS career is .938 and Edmonds is .928. Keep in mind that Chipper has been much more injury prone this season and the numbers aren't all that impressive. Moving to third does help Chipper, but what about playing CF for Edmonds? Centerfield is traditionally a more defensive position and 3B is typically viewed as a power spot, yet Edmonds has bucked that trend. If Edmonds stays healthy and puts up a 900+ OPS for another season or two, it'd be real tough to keep him out, especially if most who have responded thus far are in favor of Jones getting in. Position makes a huge difference to me. Granted, I haven't taken a close look at either's career, but I think Jones ranks higher up on the list of 3B than Edmonds is on the CF. I disagree with the position statement, there is a much larger of active 3B who are in the same league if not better then Jones right now then there is CF who are close to Edmonds. 3B- Ramirez, Rolen ( when healthy), ARod, Chavez, Ensberg is even up there. And if your talking historically Jones is nowhere near as good as Santo or Schmidt or Robinson were. CF that are in Edmonds league are Jones, Griffey are the only 2 up there. Edmonds is by no means Mays or Mantle. But I think that he would come close to cracking the top 10 in CFs all time with his stats at the end of his career. I dont think that Jones will be near that as far as 3B.
  7. He has a chance to have more hits, hr, rbis then Duke Snider, and his average would be close to me if he does that with his Gold Gloves to he gets in. There is no saying that he will do that he would have to stay healthy for another 4 years but if he does adn puts up the numbers he has put up the last few years I think he has a chance.
  8. While were talking about borderline HOF's what do you guys think about Edmonds chances if he has another 3 or 4 years of 30 to 40 HRs and 100 rbis he will have over 2,000 hits over 450 HR's and by that time he could have close to 9 or 10 gold gloves. I know hes not that well liked by Cubs fans but what do you think his chances are?
  9. I dont see the Indians looking for a SS either Peralta is putting up pretty good numbers this year and is still young, plus they have ton of leadoff type hitters in Crisp and Sizemore. They need a big slugger more then a Furcal type player.
  10. I think the mets are gonna pay an awful lot to get him so it would cost a nice chunk of money to get him.
  11. To answer the one question, yes he would have to be an off season deal and there would be a lot of teams after him, but Texas needs pitching and we have pitching. I agree that Texas wouldn't want to get rid of him, but they have a ton of young hitters with no pitching. If they ever want to compete, I would think that somebody has to be traded for pitching. I dont disagree with you that they need pitching but I think they would be much more likely to trade Dellucci or Adrian Gonzalez because he is major league ready but stuck behind Teixiera at first. They could get decent pitching for either of those 2 guys and keep Mench.
  12. I still dont think there is anyway Texas lets him go, and if they do there will be a large number of teams going after him.
  13. I've heard talk, and it's just talk, that the owners may be doing to increase the value of the team (inlcuding the new stadium and ballpark village) with the possibility of selling the team in a couple of years. KTRS doesn't have the strong signal that KMOX does. In fact, I've gone across the river into Illinois when listening to Blues games and the signal would begin to get weak. The Cardinals already have a ton of radio affiliates, so maybe they will need to pick up a couple more that's closer to St. Louis. KTRS carries a fairly weak signal especially at night. Yeah I have heard the same thing that they are trying to increase the value to sell. I have always been able to pick up blues games fine over in Belleville, so I dont know about how the rest of the coverage area isl
  14. I think its a shame, and really hurts alot of Cards fans who wont be able to get games on the radio anymore. It will be even worse if they pocket the extra money and dont invest it back into the team.
  15. I dont see how you can blame the Barrett play on Dusty, you can blame the lack of fundamentals on him. But that is an instinct play by Barrett, there is nothing Dusty could have done.
  16. What exactley happend, how did rollins steal home?
  17. No you were right, Edmonds was bunting, I dont know why he was but he was. He did foul it off .
  18. The first 2 were by Willis they were the first 2 guys he faced. Him and LoDuca got into it because he was talking to the ump by home and it looked like maybe Tony said something to Villone. Then LoDuca got in and started saying stuff to Tony so they jawed at each other a little bit.
  19. Yeah I think that all of them were unintentionl, it got to the point where Cards had 3 guys hit and one up and in on Edmonds so Tony got upset.
  20. It just looked like Tony was trying to protect his guys because the pitches were up and in. Tony dosent like pitches at the head and has even reprimanded his own pitchers for throwing up and in. Carpenters hbp didnt have anything to do with it, it was a slow curve that got away and hit the guy in the butt. I dont think either of Villones pitches were intentinally either they just got away on both of them.
  21. In other Cardinals news, Rick Ankiel was recalled to AA today.
  22. I dont see it happening now either, this was a good west coast swing where they took 4 out of 6 and improved to 17-9 for the month despite the injuries.
  23. Noone is gonna claim him off the waiver wire because they would have to pay out the rest of his contract. But if he does clear waivers, the reds could then trade him to a team and then could pay part of his remaing contract. That is much more likely then any team taking him and paying the rest of his contract. Plus if a team does claim him the Reds can pull him back off which is what they would do because they wont let him go without getting something in return.
  24. I would think the Yankees and Cards are 2 more teams that may be interested. In the case of Griffey I dont think it would take that much as far as prospects because the main idea is to get rid of his contract.
  25. Im thinking there is a good chance that Griffey may go to a new team through the waivers. His contract is way to big for someone to pick up without a trade where the Reds pay part of it.
