  1. I wonder if we could send them some relievers for Barmes if they land Sanchez. why do you have such a hard on for barmes? -we need a middle infielder who can hit. -we dont have a lot of money to spend -Brames is a middle infielder who can hit. -Barmes makes 1.6 mil for the season, which is halfway over meh...i would rather let the fontenot/baker platoon ride the storm out at this point... barmes is much better against lefties...so then we would just have a crazy log jam of middle infielders this teams big weaknesses right now are starting pitching health/depth, bullpen solidness, and underperformance. if he came to us as easily as baker...sure...but i highly doubt he would be worth it for anything much larger, he is 30 and has crappy OBP ETA - he is also another rocky mountain high guy...terrible home/road splits...pass! Starting pitching is not a problem.
  2. No thanks. He has yet to regain velocity or control since his DL stint earlier this season.
  3. Actually that wasn't a terrible move. Keeping Wells in forced Cox to play his hand with the pinch hitter, essentially burning Gregor Blanco without him batting. Lou then put in Marshall with a run of lefties coming up and Marshall go the job done. If you're going to complain about that move, complain because of Lou's love of using Marshall as a LOOGY rather than him pulling Wells. Agreed. I actually liked that move...
  4. Career Whip of 1.52 through nearly 800 innings...
  5. The bullpen is 4th highest in MLB in BLSV and has an ERA that is almost in the bottom 1/3 of MLB (19th). However, I agree that this moves makes no sense without an improvement to the offense.
  6. That bogus list had to be compiled by a Cardinal fan...
  7. Miles/Fontenot have been terrible this year, and Bradley hasn't been anything to write home about. He should have left the team alone.
  8. The Cubs are 16th in bullpen ERA (Cards are 17th). The Cubs are 25th in runs scored...
  9. I haven't missed any point, my definition of responsibility differs from yours...
  10. Zobrist vs. lefties: 1.224 OPS Zobrist vs. righties: 1.032 OPS Total OPS: 1.094 Pujols vs. lefties: 1.243 OPS Pujols vs. righties: 1.038 OPS Total OPS: 1.095
  11. That's exactly where I was going - I was looking up the contracts of each player as you posted this. Don't get me wrong, though... I'm 110% on the bandwagon for trying to get Street from the Rockies with Atkins as a throw in.
  12. Yeah, I'd think they'd want prospects who could help them in the future as opposed to swapping veterans for veterans. I'd think they'd be interested in cutting some costs, and getting prospects, which is is what the original post already noted. Actually it was a single prospect and our garbage. Heilman and a couple quality prospects (as you mentioned) makes A LOT more sense.
  13. Atkins hasn't been THAT bad and Street has more worth than that...but I guess if they are giving Atkins away that would definitely fit the profile. If I was the GM of the Rockies I would want to improve my team now or in the future - Heilman and Miles do neither.
  14. Wow - sound familiar? I wish he was able to get it all together...
  15. Here's a great article about Zorilla: http://www.draysbay.com/2009/4/23/849233/cracking-the-zobrist-code-what-is?DB_OEM_ID=10900
  16. I'm not the least bit surprised that he's already had a few injuries; thus, it comes as no surprise that he's not performing (which I believe is likely a result of said injuries). Surpise, surprise...Milton Bradley is injured again. Is that better?
  17. Put me in the camp that doesn't define production as a .220 avg and .728 ops through 1/3 of the season. I didn't bank on the fact he'd start slow - just that he'd been continuously injured/unhealthy.
  18. Yes, his slow start was a surprise. Anyone who says they knew he would underperform is a [expletive] liar. What he has shown throughout his career is that when he's not missing time is that he produces at the plate. Everyone knew he'd likely miss significant time this season...what nobody knew was that he'd start so slowly. He also has not been "worthless" the entire stretch of the season so far, but why let reality get in the way of another Jim Hendry fat joke? Reality is his injury history, and the 3 (or is it 4) injuries he's suffered so far this year. I would think that players who are injured/not healthy don't perform up to their standards; therefore, I don't find his performance so far this year a surprise. I've been a poster here for numerous years and have yet to make a Hendry fat reference until my last post. I'll take this time to make another... Jim Hendry is so fat that when the circus came to town and forgot their tent he loaned them his panties to use instead.
