  1. This is amazing news. I can't see any way this is bad for the Cubs. We love you Z!
  2. I agree with your entire post 100%. Plus, I see a weakened NL Central, with the possible exception of the Brew Crew, who remain about the same. I'm vaguely optimistic about making the playoffs here.
  3. I should think so, what with hitting different cutoff men and longer throws... Again, very positive news all around.
  4. Some info in this thread.
  5. Good news on Guzman. Interesting that they're trying to move Sing to the OF. This is what I found most interesting though. How ironic is that. Eric Patterson might lose his job to the guy we got when we traded his brother.
  6. I disagree. Chances are, some reporter asked him 'If Lugo did join the Cubs, where would he play', and Dusty answered him. Not a problem in my mind.
  7. Remember that 'impending' trade that they had over the free weekend?
  8. I think that's a pretty arrogant thing to say. Who are we to judge which country he identifies himself with more? Just because he's not fresh off the boat doesn't mean he has to play for the US.
  9. Hey Len, Thanks for answering our questions. Do you see the NL Central weaker than it was last year, especially in regards to the Cardinals? If so, how do you like our chances and who will be our main competition? What is your favorite foreign country? If none, what is your favorite city outside of Chicago? What advice would you give to someone interested in becoming a sportscaster like yourself? If the Cubs could acquire one currently active pitcher for next season, regardless of contract or price, who would you choose? Thanks Len! You really take a lot of time out to answer our questions and we really appreciate it!
  10. HAhhaa. Anyone have a clip of this?
  11. http://www.theheckler.com/index.php?page=0000-06-01-DempsterInterview&idrub=18&idsite=1 Not sure if it's real or not, because the site does fake news, but it appears to be genuine.
  12. I miss everyone going to the field with a Clement beard on.... :(
  13. Ugh. Today's cub convention is not broadcast live. Pfft. What a joke.
  14. Yeah ditto, if I lived anywhere near the DJAXX I'd love to see them play...
  15. I bet he's never heard that joke before!
  16. I say for Hendry to come back, his moves this offseason would have to look really good. IE, Jones raking, Bullpen unstoppable, Pierre with an amazing OBP, Rich Hill doing well...etc. For Baker to get a new deal, he'd pretty much have to be the opposite of everything he's done so far. I would have to be really impressed with his coaching decisions to sign him back for more time, even if we won the World Series.
  17. Actually, if we make this deal (which I hope we do with a decent prospect) I beleive it would be Cedeno at SS and Lugo at 2B or the other way 'round. Which would be FANTASTIC. Me likey.
  18. I doubt it. Prior's too professional for that.
  19. Yeah, this has to be it..
  20. I'd like to beleive that they know exactly when Wood will be back, and it'll be just after Opening Day, and that they're hiding the info in case something goes wrong....but I just don't know.
  21. Oh I'd bank on it. It would have been a storybook ending for an amazing career. Proabably Clemens as well.
  22. And would be grossly overpaying IMO.... especially for a guy entering his contract year. I would think the Cubs could get a lot more than Lugo for Welly, Dope, and Marshall or a combo of Welly, Harvey, and Marmol (and I consider Welly pretty much a throw-in at this point). Didn't he do really well in AAA once they stuck him in the bullpen? Or was that Koronka...I always get those two mixed up...
  23. Oh right. I forgot about that. What was the stat line? I can't find it online. :?
  24. I perfer Cedeno because he's had more minor league experience. For instance, he's played a full year at AA last year and got 225 ABs last year in AAA before being moved up. Murton, OTOH, started at AA this year with 313 ABs, moved up to AAA for 34 ABs, and then moved up to the majors. Not that I don't have great feelings about both young players, but if I had to make a choice, I like the extended AAA play that Cedeno has. Plus, Cedeno raked in the Ven. league.
  25. http://www.frappr.com/northsidebaseball Enjoy! EDIT: Nevermind. Apparently I'm boring because it's already been done. Feel free to lock/whatever.
