  1. I severly doubt that. Bringin in some OF prospect from the Mets isn't going to sideline Pie. Pie is this organization's #1 prospect. They'll do everything they can for him. What's your guess on where those 2 will start the season? I'm guessing Pie will start at AAA as a starter. Also, we had two AAA OF propsects signed away in Ben Grieve and David Kelton. So I wouldn't be surprised if Pagan competes for some spots with the rest of the staff. Or he could be sent down to AA. His minor league numbers weren't exactly shiny last year.
  2. Wow....Len spent a lot of time on us!

  4. I was in your (temporary) hometown earlier today. How you enjoying it? Fantastic. I sent you a PM about it.

  6. Wow. Mariotti is a @$##ing ja@$^@##. http://www.suntimes.com/output/mariotti/cst-spt-jay26.html What a jerk. Honestly. I hope Frank stays healthy all year and pounds the ball, especially against the White Sox. Hey Mariotti do you think that the Sox winning might have something to do with payroll?
  7. Yeah this article is more for laughs than a serious piece. He basically lampoons every club in baseball.
  8. Yeah, I'm just not sure I get this one. I mean, he clearly needs to develop his power and BB/K ratio. How do Greenberg's stats compare?
  9. Met's OF prospect. Spent all of last year in AAA Norfolk. Took up a .271/.333/.395 line there. In 516 ABs he had 140 hits, 20 doubles, 10 triples, 8 homers, 40 RBIs, 27 steals against 15 caught, and 49 walks against 111 strikouts. Was selected by the Met's fourth round in 1999 amateur entry draft. EDIT: Oh, and apparently he's a switch-hitter too.
  10. Well you can't just let him sit in the bullpen when there isn't a save chance. He's got to get out and use him arm like any other pitcher every once in a while.
  11. The Superbowl isn't just large this year.....it's XL!
  12. http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/20/209785.jpg What do you guys think of this 'lightning in a bottle' reliever? In his last 8.1 innings, he allowed only 1 run, striking out 13, walking 2 and allowing 1 homerun. It seems that he's regained a bit of his composure as a reliever, especially as it was a bit rough for him in August, when he first came off the DL. That was 6 IP with 8 runs, 10 strikeouts, walking 4 and allowing 2 homeruns. Even when he's not on top of his game, it seems like he strikes a lot of guys out with minimal walks. Does anyone remember watching him at the end of last year? Did he seem to have much better control? Also, where do you think he will fit into the bullpen? We just signed a set-up guy....do you think he'd come in the 7th inning then?
  13. Where are you going?
  14. Wow....that's uh.... Is this good or bad?
  15. I thought it was funny and a brilliant work of allusion, but yes, I will lay off and leave the thread.
  16. Jesus sometimes this forum has the mindset of Marvin the robot from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It wouldn't kill you to have a little optimism.
  17. The Twins? This will be the first time in years they aren't the favorite in their division.
  18. They had him at the Cubs convention unless I was mistaken...
  19. You can't erase luck from baseball. It's as much a part of the game as the players are. Every team battles with luck. I fail to see where you're making your point.
  20. Well, no, it means they were 'unlucky' last year and that for them to improve would almost be expected.
  21. Alright, if Twalk does get traded, someone's got to create a bandWGN for Hairston. :P
  22. http://www.brewcrewball.com/ He's got some really interesting stuff about BABIP fluctuation and age, and luck, and all that stuff. For instance under "2005 BIP Underperformers under age 32" it lists both Juan Pierre (to a lesser extent) and Jacque Jones (to a significant extent). Let's hope he's right. Also, here's another site, but I can't really understand this one...something about defense range or something... http://www.baseballmusings.com/
  23. I agree. When Hairston mentioned working out with Olympic sprinters this winter....I like Todd Walker don't get me wrong, but I think Hairston might be the best #2 hitter and 2B.
  24. If Guzman's healthy, not a chance. And when has that happened recently? The guys so broken down I'm surprised he can eat his morning cereal. "On second thought, we've had other offers on Corey Patterson..." *ten minutes later* "Corey Patterson is now an Oriole!" Although it is Bruce, I'm still not 100% convinced Walker won't be gone by Spring Training.
  25. So basically shape up on defense or ship out.
