  1. winner Dude, I just did a mini-essay on your username. I assume your reference is to the Spanish Restoration following the 1874 constitution? I believe Zambrano was called "Cacique" at one point (by Dusty or something). It was done as a tribute to him back when I joined. I really need to change it though. I've never really liked it that much. Yeah it means 'boss' in Spanish. But boss like mob-boss. They would run the territory and fix elections and in return were given lots of payoffs.

  10. I guess we lost Calvin Murray as well, so our AAA OF is pretty much empty, although I'm told their priming Brandon Sing for OF, and if he moves up to AAA, he'd probably split time. So it looks Pie, Pagan, and a AA OF like Bacon or Greenberg.
  11. Well that settles that question I guess. I wish him luck in his pursuits. Thanks Mr. Miles. Carrying that forward, that means we've lost three of our AAA OF spots, in Murray, Kelton, and Grieve. That's 1,252 ABs opened up in AAA OF.

  13. Anyone really know how this is gonna work? I could see the thing getting very crowded considering the number of Cubs fans and the size of the stadium...especially during something like the playoffs. I was looking for some background info with the only other park I know that has one of these: SBC Park in San Fran. That's not a bad idea so people don't get mashed against said screen. Also, on the websites it says they 'clear' everyone out after 3 innings, and allow new people in at that point. It also said that people either bring folding chairs or stand. But then, the "knot hole" in SBC Park stretches across their RF, and we only have one. Do you think Cubs fans will be allowed into a room-type thing like in SBC park or do you think they'll have it screened off to the sidewalk? Anyone able to find more pictures of what these things look like?

  18. I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I'll make a note of it here, and if it has just ignore me. If any of you are interested in a Bears podcast, there is a very funny one at http://www.bearscast.com . Just thought I'd throw that out there. Less actual strategy and more funniness, but worth a listen.

Fred: That'll do nicely...in fact that's better because it was every team the Cubs played against. CubinNY: That's particularly why I think the Cubs will be better this year. Because that first inning won't involve CPatt or Neifi!, instead seeing Juan Pierre and (hopefully) Todd Walker. That's where the Cubs lost big last year, and I think we've improved that area quite a bit. Anyone know where they was a huge dropoff in the 5th inning? That just seems odd. 100 runs in the 4th, 121 in the 6th, but only 63 in the 5th...

  22. Hey fred, completely unrelated note, but how many runs were scored by the Cubs in "late" innings vs. the rest of the innings? Could you then compare that to the WS teams?

  24. The last two seasons at AAA he's put up some pretty decent numbers but he has too little slugging power to start. '04: .311/.368/.440 '05: .297/.380/.407 I mean, he showed most promise back in '99 with a very nice line of .334/.392/.542, but that was seven years ago. The guy is gonna be 35 next year. Why are we holding on to him? A possible 4th OF? Last year he had 499 ABs! This just confuses me...
