  1. Wow. We were certainly lucky to have been allowed into the playoffs in 2003. But unlike many who deride Hendry, I don't see a continual slide, in fact it looks like 2004 was the year in just about everything except for injuries and bullpen. But there's no disagreeing that 2005 was a massive bust.
  2. He had a nagging anke injury that wasn't done healing. This winter he's been working with Olympic sprinters and says he feels four years younger. Basically, he wasn't 100% last year, but should start this year at 100%.
  3. He has almost no power and the ESPN profile said his defense was weak. OBP isn't everything. It's important, but there are other ways to value a player.
  4. What's with the crows in the signature?
  5. I'd like to, but it's just too far away for me.
  6. It was also truly frightening to watch. I was there for that game. God it was ugly to see. Even though we won the game, it was a really bad day.
  7. Yeah, hence my "Major League Debut" option. :?
  8. Someone posted a Stark tidbit that they are worried that Roberts won't be healthy(elbow?). Yes, Jayson Stark mentioned this first. Apparently, the Orioles fear that Roberts recovery from a dislocated elbow will be slow. A dislocated elbow is tough. I dislocated mine once. Getting it popped back in to place was the worst pain I've ever felt. Two guys held my should while another doctor grabbed my hand and jerked as hard as he could. On about the 15th yank it finally popped back into place. I immediately passed out. It was a very long time before I could straighten my arm out. That was about 5 yrs. ago and it still bothers me. I can dislocate both my shoulders at will. No pain at all.
  9. Idea totally stolen from this website. Accepting all kinds of nominations.
  10. In exchange for whom though....who do the Orioles have that we would want?
  11. Tarzan angry! Tarzan want more OBP%!
  12. I see this as entirely possible. There isn't any MLB baseball in Tennessee or Kentucky or Virginia or South Carolina. Seems like enough population in those areas...
  13. What is a 'long bus'? I completly disagree. No way Baker is going to hand such an important spot to Cedeno for more than a couple games towards the end of the year. I disagree. I'd say there's 90% chance that if Walker makes it to Spring Training, he makes it to the trading deadline as well. I thought Jones was actually pretty good at defense? Maybe one of his only attributes, but I thought this one was true.
  14. I think Barrett would rake. Clear choice for me.
  15. Shall we start the 'Hairston over Neifi Starting' BandWGN?
  16. I cringe every time I hear an announcer, when plugging the next day's game, say "making his major league debut". You know we're in for a 2-hit shutout. Ugh. I hear that. Remember that game against Colorado with the pitcher who had something like the most walks of any pitcher in baseball? We didn't get one until what, the seventh inning?
  17. The Mets always seem to kill us when we need a win.
  18. Although I wonder if a Hairston 2B wouldn't be better if he was 100%....
  19. Ugh. Soriano just makes me sick. I hope he never sees a Cub uniform. Especially with all this crap about 'I'm not moving to the outfield'. What a jerk.
  20. Wow that's a steal for Cleveland. And it brings us much closer to Lugo. Good news all around.
  21. That doesn't make a lick of sense.
  22. I stand corrected - my mistake.
  23. I would guess primarily because he can't hit left-handed pitching to save his life. Three year average against lefties: .181/.233/.319 Yikes.
  24. Of course not. I'd say it comes down to everyone being blamed, especially the players, whom I'm told get drilled in it every spring training. There doesn't have to be a scapegoat for everything. I don't think he was so much complaining, as he was trying to answer questions. And I believe he's entering into the third year of his contract.
