  1. good point, andy. it was actually 2 yrs ago and remember it is not delay of game just because the clock says zero, it is delay of game when the ref says it is delay of game. Also I think it was actually a fake fg...but point taken.
  2. I was not happy with MSU last night until I put it in perspective. New QB, first game, quality opponent. Take the win and move on. I think Maxwell will improve.
  3. Is it just me or does anyone else think this kind of trade after the non-waiver deadline is somewhat wrong. The Giants had no chance to block the trade, nor were they in a position to negotiate their own trade with the Red Sox. If they were to try to make any moves now to counter, the Dodgers would probably block them. I just think it really goes against the heart of what the waiver deal month is supposed to be.
  4. I think the NHL is going to lock out....so Bowman may be taking a wait it out approach instead of adding mid level salary while not certain what kind of cap they will end up with.
  5. I do not argue that the SEC is not the best conference usually. I just have always argued that their perception is mightier than their reality. I enjoyed this read though there was some flaws in the writers logic.
  6. I am no expert in these matters, but this seems like a good deal.
  7. Can we start a campaign to start calling out other players that are rather suspect. I highly suspect AJ Pierzynski
  8. You can start drinking earlier than that if it comes down to it - I certainly would. ND has all sorts of problems if things look bleak at any point in Dublin. To your second question - no lower than 14 unless they get absolutely destroyed. Michigan deserves (and I can't believe I'm saying this) some credit for actually attempting to have some semblance of an OOC schedule this year. When was the last time there were only 6 games in Ann Arbor?? I think Michigan is probably not even close to being the worst offender of big time programs who play weak schedules. They often play a harder schedule than MSU...which is not saying much of course.
  9. I like that MSU is playing Boise. I really like it that they are playing them when they are probably rebuilding. I still wish it was not the first game. I think Michigan is going to play Alabama closer than most will expect.....under 10 or so. I actually think this a kind of a tough spot for Alabama. 7 new defensive players against Denard Robinson. I normally wouldn't like Denard against a quality/fast D, but this may be an exception.
  10. I like that the Cubs are getting multiple prospects at some positions. I am going to end up liking the one that pans out or gets us more in a trade.
  11. I should have used the sarcasm color
  12. I do not think Dusty would agree that DeJesus is a lead off man. I think Pierre is probably more of an option for the Reds.
  13. Beach Volleyball?? I can't quite place my finger on why, but women's beach volleyball is not nearly as entertaining as it used to be.
  14. Supposedly the Wings offered quite a bit more, but Howson would have nothing to do with trading Nash in the division. Of course this is all supposedly.
  15. I keep hearing that if the new CBA lowers the salary cap then all of these contracts will be scaled back like in 2005. Just because that happened then does not mean the players are going to agree to that this time around. I think the owners are not is nearly as strong of a position as they were in 2004. There is no way they can afford any kind of an extended shut down. Don Fehr is a master at exploiting this. And as you stated, the owners are going to look bad crying poor and giving contracts like this....or 3.5 mill a yr to players like Oduya and Kyle Quincey.
  16. Makes sense... having both Theo and Jed is gonna help but we're still going to need to make at least one move in the next week to ten days so we can get everything done we need to get done by the deadline. While the more rational Cubs fans eagerly await the commencing of the sale, I'm very curious to see how the, for lack of a better term meat headed fans react to a fire sale when the team is finally starting to play well for an extended stretch. What? Dempster and Garza have been talked about as being as good gone for a while now. The meatballs are well versed. There were a couple call ins after the game yesterday on WGN who couldn't be convinced that trading Dempster was a good idea. "Sign him long term and he will still only be old when we get good again and he can help teach the younger players how to be funny" Either Kaplan or the other guy(not sure which one) didn't have enough guts to just call them stupid. Their response was "it certainly wouldn't be bad to have him, but he can probably get a key piece or two for building the future." I am paraphrasing in both cases but you get the drift.
  17. Why does this post sound like the commercial where the girl calls her boyfriend to tell him she is giving him the silent treatment. I am all for adding any pieces of value at whatever position. I think the more talent the Cubs have the better. It is better than relying on one or two guys to be the future.
  18. I think at this point if the Cubs pay 90% of his salary I would expect a solid prospect in return.
  19. I am glad they both signed with MN as opposed to any other team in the hunt, except Det of course. But I think the Wings are going to end up doing something desperate to add a top pairing D-man, or worse someone they think is a top pairing guy who really isn't.
  20. I was hoping the Wings would make a run at Wideman if they do not get Suter. I was thinking more like 3.8 though. Calgary is just plan stupid.
  21. I was thinking about this and realized that there is not a single player on the Red Wings I wouldn't trade for Kane. I used to believe that Kane was way over-valued by Hawks fans, now I am starting to realize that he is way under-valued by some Hawks fans.
  22. I am a notorious Kane detractor and I think you may be a little off here. Also a quality 2nd pairing d-man and keeping Kane should not be an either/or proposition.
  23. Yeah this is a bummer. Trying to plan a trip to the 'Peg for a Saturday game early in the year. But I doubt those first few weeks will be played. I would be stunned if they don't resolve it, Don Fehr and all. Critically important for both sides to get it done. Can't have another labor dispute already. You would think this, but the NHL has never really had a lot of sense when it comes to running a league.
  24. There are plenty of non female down state white guys who enjoy a good hustly, plays the game right and doesn't wear long pants type of player. There is also nothing feminine about these guys at all.
  25. Going to see plenty of him when he's skating in Detroit next year. I love how every big FA is going to the Wings. I actually do not think the Wings are going to get Parise or Suter. Not sure why I feel this way but it is the feeling that I have.
