  1. I have never seen Nix double over in pain when he purposely runs into another players elbow.
  2. I love the big ten network, they schedule the games far enough apart we very rarely have an issue with overrun. Crean is so insufferable. I know the Indiana win helps Illinois, but I really can't stand the Hoosiers at all. Between Crean, Zeller and Shehey(sp), Indiana becomes hard to like.
  3. when did the meatballs make Campana's one dimensional super power, speed, more valuable than other one dimensional super powers like power, getting on base, playing good defense? The Cub fans at work today were somewhat insufferable.
  4. Yep, I clearly think we have the best history ever, you got me. In reality I'd say in history we are the best program to not win a title. A whole lot of wins and a great winning percentage. Just haven't got the big one. who is the competition? Purdue? Houston or Memphis
  5. All anyone has to do is sign him to an offer sheet. He has turned down 3.5 a year and wants 5 yr 25 mill. My guess is if you sign him to that, the Avs would just take the picks. Personally I do not think he is worth that and 3.5 for 2 yrs was a fair deal. Also, the Avs are probably not trading his rights to a Western team. They were very mad last year when Tampa flipped Quincey to Detroit.
  6. I didn't mind Saad getting a chance, but I agree with you. Maybe because Hoss is more of a shooter than a deker. This was a question brought up on CSN's postgame show. I think they said Hoss was 14-42 in his career which is 33%, well below Kane and Toews, but still not a terrible number for a 3rd shooter (I think....shootout statistics are hard to find). I honestly have no idea if there is a skillset for shootouts, or if there is if it differs from overall skillset. I'm sure there's some sort of link, otherwise you'd find more 4th line players who randomly have a skill for shootouts. (there's a few I think) there are some defensemen who do shootouts. Kris Letang does I think and I am sure there are more.
  7. Well of course...I understand his motive for saying what he said but it does not change the fact that the B1G needs to recruit better. And as someone else has touched on, pay coaches more and upgrade facilities.
  8. As much as I would like to have him pitch here, I also do get nervous whenever The Cubs do things that smell more of marketing than actually trying to win. If he can pitch and help, I am in. simple as that
  9. Who is 23? He killed you guys on that half court play and also on letting Berg have such an easy look for a 3 at the end of OT. Berg is not going to kill you penetrating and if he does it would only be 2 points.
  10. so whatever I think of Urban Meyer and OSU, he is absolutely correct about this http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--urban-meyer-challenges-big-ten-rivals-to-improve-their-recruiting-230119562.html
  11. When was the last Presidents Cup winner to win the Cup '07/'08 Wings. Hasn't been *that* long. Plus, the Canucks made the finals in '10/'11, but lost because they're the Canucks and doomed to fail. I was just playing, usually the Presidents winner comes from a weak division, so they are probably over-rated some going into the playoffs. I do not think the Central is a weak division this season. So if the Hawks win the Presidents Cup, I do not think it would be some fluke.
  12. I think Indiana should be upset with themselves for not making a commitment to getting the ball in the paint against Illinois. On that last play whoever the player was kind of guarding the Illinois player in the opposite corner should have been back in the lane more also. It would have been an easy close out for him from the lane. Overall Indiana's help defense was not good on that last play
  13. When was the last Presidents Cup winner to win the Cup
  14. yeah that is what I was thinking.
  15. I wonder what kind of haul The Mariners would have gotten if they would have been willing to trade him this off-season or at the deadline
  16. schilling is so full of [expletive]. he's such a fame hog, if that really happened, he would have mentioned it already. "OH YEAH I JUST HAPPENED TO REMEMBER THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME WHILE WE'RE IN THE MIDST OF ANOTHER STEROID SCARE." [expletive] you, idiot. i wish i didnt root for them in 04. he was a glory hog jerk in 04 also. Not sure why you would have cheered for him
  17. An 18 year old even needing a parental signature is beyond stupid. The state of Florida should be allowed to sue her for wasting people's time. I thought the issue was that he was only 17. Also, is it just me or does this whole thing reek of the mom getting offered something from the Miami people if her boy played there?
  18. This is when fighting should occur. Someone on the ice needs to step up for their teammate in these cases. Not 8 shifts later whenever a team can get their goon out there against the guy. Also, is there anything more stupid than the trend of two goons starting the game with a fight.
  19. Just this week both Webb and Carpenter seem to be done. Those were 2 pitchers who I hated seeing pitch against the Cubs when they were healthy. Ton of respect for both of them, even the one who played for the Cards.
  20. I was very interested in watching back to back Michigan games only to be quickly turned away by Dickie V...hope he is not doing next Tuesdays game
  21. Simms didnt know where a safety kick is at
  22. They doubled up Calgary in hits. And got completely outplayed. Hits is a terrible stat and do a lousy job of measuring how physical a team is. Also sometimes in an attempt to "hit" someone a player takes themselves out of being in good hockey position....Jordan Tootoo and Ben Eager being glaring examples
  23. Not with his contract. I doubt Baez will be better than Castro defensively when he arrives at the big leagues, because of how much bigger he'll be. Baez will look great at 3B. I had to listen to The White Sox weekly show on The Score yesterday. One of the points the announcer guy brought up was there was a lack of good 3b in MLB and their systems, he sited a Sox front office guy. So first of all I do not know if this is actually true. If however it is, would it not make sense to keep both Castro and Baez and move one to 3rd, while developing others to play 3rd. Try to take advantage of the market deficiency shall we say.
  24. I thought it was Illinois team strategy to foul on every possession in the 2nd half. Maybe I was just as blinded by my bias as you Illinois fans were obviously blinded by yours. yeah, that's it, you nailed it. Thank you
  25. 20 minutes with no ads is rough, but OT hockey is compelling tv, which should make banner ads more valuable during that time. They could always negotiate in extras for that. Plus, if you go through one 20-minute OT period, you could always chop the next into 15 or 12 minute chunks, with a more brief intermission so you run 2+ minutes of ads right after the period, a brief studio report and then more ads before starting up the next period. I understand that OT hockey is compelling TV, but would playoff shootouts be equally as compelling(especially to people who currently do not watch)? Is there data that shows that games pick up more viewers in OT? Anyway I googled "Should NHL have shootouts in playoffs" and there was only relevant response, so this is not something that is changing soon. It is just a feeling that I have had since they added shootouts.
