  1. The Pens are serious about winning I guess. They are going to be in Cap hell the next couple of years with a lot of quality players coming available.
  2. Screw those people then. They haven't missed the playoffs in 20 years, have 4 cups in 15 years and have a crapload of division titles (not that they mean a lot in hockey) of late. If that fan base can't deal with an off year they blow. Of all the teams in that market they should have some leeway. As much as Wings fans like to say they are Hockeytown and great fans...history does not support these claims. They gave almost no support during the 70s and 80s. I agree the Illitch owned Wings have done a helluva lot to earn fan support. Pre Salary Cap they had a payroll that required the team to make the WCFs to be profitable. They have made The Joe about as good of a place to watch hockey as possible for such a dump. They have been extremely loyal to popular players. Illitch was widely considered one owner who was against the lock outs(though he toed the company line) When the team was floundering they made moves that tried to make them Cup contenders every year. However, there just seems to be apathy with this years bunch. And they really are not bad, just clearly not a Cup contender.
  3. It's kind of sad. Murphy has started to get a sort of Ron Santo thing going with Wings fans. Yes there is a certain amount of apathy with Wings fans I think. The websites I frequent are way down. I think the Wings should be sellers, but it would be kind of risky for them right now fan support wise. Sad truth is they could probably make a big push with the addition of a Top 6 forward, but that would only dig a deeper hole going forward. ps...I personally have Wings apathy. I have only watched a couple of games online and have missed a couple that have been televised locally for me. I usually watch 70+ games a year if you include playoffs
  4. I really do not either. But he projects as a top 4 dman everywhere I looked. I like Morrow when healthy. Plays hard all the time with some edge but not dirty. However, his contract is up after this season. This is a pure rental for a possible future top 4 dman. Seems way to much to me
  5. I think the Pens gave up too much for Brenden Morrow. If this is the type of quality that could be had for Morrow I really hope the Wings trade Filppula. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=419014
  6. CBS should issue an apology for playing ESPN. It was a borderline bad call that happens 5 times a game and refs get right about half the time. The CBS crew giving it more than a mention was the problem.
  7. Why are 4 of these games today night games? and really only 2 during the day. 2 other late afternoon/early evening. I understand this on Saturday, but you would think Sunday the games would be earlier. That being said, the B1G is really being showcased during the day this weekend.
  8. We're soft
  9. so The Ducks have been lucky this season...but Adelkader has been playing on the same line as Datsyuk for several weeks now and that line has had ZERO 5 on 5 points. Last night 4, including 3 goals by Adelkader. Maybe the Ducks luck is turning
  10. a page plus on utility players who are not that good and do not play for the Cubs
  11. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why everyone was so high on VCU beating Michigan. Michigan struggles against half court slow down teams and teams that are in the Top 5, VCU is neither. Trapping Michigan seemed like a bad idea to me. MSU has played some serious MSU ball for 2 games so far. I do not think they will beat Duke. Hope I am wrong. I agree on the MU-VCU stuff, I think VCU could have given Kansas fits though had they gotten by MU. Michigan is going to beat them anyways. I think it is going to be a interesting match up. Michigan does not defend the paint well, Kansas does not have good guard play. My fear of MSU/probably Duke is foul trouble. The wrong refs will have MSU in foul trouble with the Duke of Whites flopping all over the place.

  13. You would have to imagine that Perry/Getzlaf are going to be the low bar the next time Kane and Toews reup. Parise getting 7.5 makes Perry and Getzlaf contracts kind of make sense.
  14. Yes, let's pour some out for brethren from Kankakee I do not live in Kankankee, but Tim has a point. Going to Wrigley is a nightmare at times if you are driving in from out of town.
  15. So I do not follow CBB that much. So obviously I am not that in tune with non power conference schools. Trying to do my bracket I have come to this obvious question...why is the Mountain West getting so much love? I just do not see anything great on any of these teams resumes.
  16. Indiana 1 Ohio State 2 Michigan State 3 Michigan 4 Wisconsin 5 Illinois 7 Minnesota 11 I think it was pretty even overall. I guess I just thought that Michigan and Wisconsin should have been higher...maybe even Minnesota. Oh well really doesnt matter that much. I just looked and forgot that Wisconsin had 11 loses. and all of Michigan's losses have been recent
  17. So is it just me or did the B1G get kind of slighted?
  18. It is usually goon time also. So I know as a fan I do not like when my team is up big like that with a whole period left.
  19. So I am no basketball strategy expert. But I have often wondered why these teams that are clearly more talented than Wisconsin do not just press the heck out of them. Why not do something that would force a pace that goes against there style. It almost seems like Indiana, Michigan and Ohio St would be the perfect teams to do it also.
  20. The arena was AT LEAST 50/50 Hawks/Blue Jackets fans on Thursday, and possibly more 60/40 in favor of Chicago. I've never seen so many "visiting" fans at a game before I have, when I used to regularly go to Wings/Hawks games at the UC 5-10 yrs ago yes this is a slight taunt out of jealousy
  21. watching your favorite team play Wisconsin is like having a root canal-Dickie V I love Wisconsin when I am cheering for them :D
  22. so every time I watch Michigan, whenever Burke goes on these one on 5 things he does for extended periods, the other team does very well. When they run an offense that includes everyone, Michigan is almost unstoppable.
  23. My personal disdain for ESPN actually makes me enjoy Walton's "jokes" Too bad everything else Walton is kind of hard to enjoy
  24. so how much do you think one could pick up some tickets for Friday night B1G tourney? Hoping for some Thursday losers to sell kind of cheap.
  25. I wish they would get more creative with the names of these things. How about...Sitting in the Player's Wives section with Keith Law
