  1. I agree with your assessment of the Big Ten Andy. I think a reason for this is that several of the more talented teams are young and inconsistent. PSU and MSU are veteran teams that have played pretty consistent. OSU is just way more talented.
  2. I have a hard time believing that someone who pitched so well in 2007 is done. His 2007 season mirrored a successful minor league career. So it wasnt a fluke. His velocity isnt a problem, so whatever it is lays elsewhere. Seems to me anything besides lowered velocity is probably fixable.
  3. Huge early season game between the Wings and Sharks and there is no national coverage!!!
  4. I dont think the Wings have a very good Goaltending situation. They overcame it last year when Osgood played well during the playoffs. I think they could very easily lose to a team in the playoffs with a hot goaltender, while Osgood could struggle.
  5. they will never play OT hockey until there is a winner during the regular season. 1 quadruple ot could ruin a teams season. I am not a big fan of the shootout and would just as well have a tie. Truth is there is not any easy solutions. It was a great game last night...to bad either team would have had to lose in such a manner. That game would have been worth watching until someone won on a legitimate goal. Sadly, the NHL is littered with some low quality games that would be painful to watch if it had to go past a 5 min ot and a shootout.
  6. Not my rule...I am old school, should just end the game after 3 periods in a tie
  7. Uhhh hello, they got lucky and got a cheap win because of stupid howry NHL rules... shootout? Whoever thought of that should be hung... it should be OT til a REAL team scores. Not 1 v 1. 8 power plays to 3...You will not see 10 games all year with that kind of ratio They will never play OT games til someone wins in the regular season and that would still be the DEFENDING STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS over a team that has only made the playoffs once this decade...So take your REAL team back and maybe make the playoffs and let a Detroit worry about defending the Cup nuff said
  8. Detroit aint good? Stanley Cup Champions....win game in Chicago....almost unheard of power play difference in the Hawks favor Whatever
  9. The Blues were a pretty talented team in the late 90s early 00s. If I remember correctly only made the WCFs once and never the Stanley Cup finals. If memory serves me, I think most Blues fans were happy he left. From a non fan looking in, I always thought he was a solid coach.
  10. The heart of all this argument lies in the fallacy that either the poll system or the Bowl system were designed to create an actual without a doubt National Champion. The poll system was created by the press to help sell papers by creating debate, the bowl system was a money making "exhibition". Any attempt to create an actual without a doubt NC through these systems will always fail. Makes for fun debate though.
  11. I strongly disagree with this. I think the talent is there for them to make the playoffs in the West. They are not a top team though.
  12. I have never done fantasy hockey, but I would be willing to take that team and try to win the Cup. I am guessing there isnt 30 teams in your league though
  13. I am going to be quietly confident that MSU is going to beat OSU.
  14. I agree, I wonder in 30 years are we going to be hearing White Stripes songs in all the football games
  15. I am not sure that having Datsyuk and Zetterberg on different lines is going to work for Detroit.
  16. I think that Lou has earned the benefit of the doubt, so I wont question him too much. He is hard to figure out though. In some cases production clearly is the bottom line without age/experience being a consideration. Than in other cases, he seems to bow to the vet. Ward over Hoff makes no sense at all. Wards biggest attribute is his clubhouse leadership, which if he was really a leader, he would understand he is not the best option and still be a positive force in the Clubhouse
  17. In that case, I'm all for it. The Hawks should act like a major market team. If that means eating $7M to clear up cap space and improve the offense, then so be it. I think the Hawks came out hot in the preseason last year too, so I'm not going to get too amped up until the games count. But 3-0 is definitely better than the alternative. Last year they didn't have Campbell and Kane & Toews were rookies. I have read on TSN.ca and ESPN that this team is built for Campbell. And that all things are pointing to the fact that Campbell could have a career year being on the same line as Toews and/or Kane. He has looked amazing in the preseason so far... Also... the Hawks could arguably have the best PP team in the league this year. I am pretty sure that Campbell will not be playing on the same line as Toews and/or Kane.
  18. In the past this is the part of the season where Michigan St starts to screw up. I am nervous
  19. I know this program pretty well. As upset as I was at the time of not scoring TDs, I was feeling fine at 19-0. Talk about crap'n the bed. I asked this in the middle of this thread somewhere and didnt see if any Badger fans answered. How is that Clay kid not getting more carries? Hill is just getting him what his line is hammering out. That Clay kid ran the ball twice that I seen and look incredible. I think a little more Clay and the Badgers score a couple of more TDs instead of FGs.
  20. Really? So that means their comeback against Minnesota at the Metrodome a few years ago was the biggest? I think they were down 21 points in that game. that is correct Again, that just amazes me. We have two comebacks against Minnesota alone larger than that in the last decade. Probably because Michigan used to play so close to the vest they didnt get behind by large amounts very often. Even when they were getting hammered by USC in the Rose Bowl a couple of years ago, they only got down by a couple of tds.
  21. Question for Wisconsin fans. How is that Clay guy not getting more carries? He only got 2 carrries that I seen and looked great. There is nothing special about Hill that his offensive line doesnt get him.
  22. There's no reason ANYBODY should be striking out 200 times per year, high OBP or not. your baseball knowledge is definitely in the bottom 10 percent of this board And you're a borderline troll who should have been banned long ago. And, seeing as you're a genius, would you care to explain to me why it's a good thing that they're striking out 200 times per year? Care to tell me why with runners on the corners and one out, it's ok that he strikes out, instead of putting the ball in play and perhaps getting the runner home? Yes, when you strike out you avoid the double play. But that is worst-case scenario. If there's not a runner on 1st, a strikeout isn't any better than a ground out or a fly ball. At least with a fly ball or grounder, you can possibly advance the runners. With a strikeout, barring a dropped 3rd strike, they don't. It's simple, really. So, care to tell me why it's desirable for a high OBP guy to strike out at disgusting levels? Seeing as that's the position you're taking by rebuking my argument. I'd be quite happy to hear it. I think KO is just the same as any other out. If you were to take a player like Ryan Howard whose main strength as a hitter is power. You are to take that away from him with 2 strikes, just to avoid a KO. So he "chokes up" or whatever and gets a couple of more runners moved over or scored, or he hits like he normally does. I will take my chances with what he normally does. Let the Cesar Izturiuses of the world choke up.
  23. I dont remember the date or even the year. Cubs played the Big Red Machine. Cubs won in the 9th with Dave Radar hitting a bases loaded double off the wall. 2-1
  24. Ideas for stickied posts IN Rants: ESPN In Transactions: Milton Bradley
  25. Eh I don't think you should worry....There bad this year and Wisconsin is a much much better team. Especially in a big Big Ten game I wouldn't think Wisconsin would think it was a push over game. In this statement lays the trap. Michigan isnt bad. They are inexperienced and mistake prone. Wisconsin should win, but I would venture to say this about all of the Big Ten teams. None of them are good enough to just overlook Michigan.
