    I agree. The couple of games that I went to this year, I just thought the sight lines from the lower deck would not be that great. I am guessing upper deck right behind 1st and 3rd base would be awesome.

    I honestly didnt think that I was going to get that excited about this game, but I am really pumped up. This is probably the most excited I have been for a regular season game, since some the the Avs games in the late 90s

    The Big Ten is 8-9 overall in BCS games. If it wasnt for an 0-4 the last couple of years they have a good BCS record. Penn St only has 1 of those victories, so I think the "Big Ten cant win" is just something that has been made up the last couple of years

    Me and the Boys are pretty excited. I almost made going to the game a xmas present for them, but that would have been the only thing they got. My Dad is coming over and a couple of limited Hawks fans that I know here in Central Illinois. Lidstrom is playing, Samuelson is still out. Couldnt find anything on Kane, I would assume he is playing since he finished on Tues. and there seems to be no report. Also Chelios is playing and Lebda is sitting. I think this is just a courtesy to him being a Chicago native. As long as everyone is healthy, I dont think Cheli gets too many games the remainder of the year.

    The BCS has ruined New Years day as being the greatest day of the year. Besides MSU who plays at the same time as the Wings, I just am not that excited about the games today.

    As girly as the Wings were in tonight's game, I don't blame them for not dropping the gloves. They were inside the Hawks heads and they weren't going to give the Hawks an opening to get back into the game, by getting into a fight. OK Don Cherry!! As much fun as the Joey Kocur/Bob Probert days were with the Wings, I would rather win the Cup. Not dropping gloves is not girly, especially if its just because the Hawks were mad about a couple of clean hits against Kane. If there was a dirty hit, than you have to pay the piper.

    Sucks when Ty Roy never gave up a rebound :( Sorry... It's hard for me to admit my golden team finally got dominated... leave me alone! Thats cool I certainly understand. He would probably have given more rebounds if the Hawks had more pressure directly in front of him. It is those types of things that make a huge difference in the playoffs. I dont know how the Hawks can work it in their cap, but picking up a power forward who can do the dirty work in front of the net may be a good trade deadline investment.

    I agree with Olcycz...Conklin was the difference, plus Versteeg just blowing that shot when the score was 1-0. I dont think 4-0 was a good indication of how this game really was. I do think the Hawks got frustrated and didnt play nearly as well from the mid of 2nd on. I dont watch as much Blackhawk hockey as you guys. I know Detroit is a hard team to get good hits on, but I noticed that the Hawks arent really that physical of a team. Also as good as Conklin was, they really didnt put pressure on him after the shots. They seem to just make some good plays to set up shots and than dont attack the net when the shot is taken, especially on the PP. As good as Conklin was tonight, how often was he looking through a screen or fighting to keep a rebound from an attacking forward? 2 of Detroits goals were caused by these kind of plays.

    Usually get some leeway after getting hit like that. It takes a lot to get a matching penalty. Eager could have just as easily gotten a matching on Lebda's crosschecking earlier, same kind of shenanigans.

    Wings really took control of that period after the Franzen goal. Up until the Kane high stick I thought all the penalties were pretty cheap. The Wings dont usually get into fights unless its McCarty. If Kane doesnt want to get hit, dont stand still with the puck. If the Hawks dont like it, maybe they should try some clean hitting, just my opinion. Hawks really outplayed the Wings until the 2nd goal. I think they are showing their age a little by getting frustrated instead of just keeping up the pressure. It seemed like they only got a couple of shots in the last 15 mins of the 2nd.

    hawks look great so far...both penalties looked questionable though edit Wings are getting Goaltending!! all the penalties have been pretty cheap so far. Hawks look like a different team without Kane.

    I think most the the names used against Detroit were actually made up by Detroit fans during the 70s and 80s. I dont think that the Sparrows are related to the Hawk except that they are both birds. The Hawks are really named after a native american tribe anyway. Most of the other anti-Hawks stuff is really pretty bad against native americans, so I chose not to say those things. I through the Sparrow thing out since the previous post mentioned the Dead Things.

    Cub fan, and Wings fan, all in one brain? That is unpossible sir. Yeah, seriously. That's probably ban-able. What I want tonight is to hear another road crowd booing their team after every period when they get completely dominated. I know I should expect a tight game, but we are catching Detroit at the right time. I am Cub fan and MSU fan to spite my father(Tigers and Michigan)...I actually was more of a Habs fan through the 70s and 80s, I liked the Wings but they sucked(bad). I became a Cub fan because they were on TV. Funny how that worked. Than later in life actually moved to Illinois.

    He says he is doubtful for Tues and questionable for Thurs. No team report that I found. MRI on Monday confirmed that there is no break. This is a much bigger lose for the Wings than some may think. The Wings have good depth at defense, but no other top tier defensemen.

    yes. The difference with pond hockey in northern Michigan and ice at wrigley is that the pond is actually a real dark green. The suns reflection is not that bad. I am sure whatever white base that they will be using at Wrigley will be quite different.

    Even with him out twice in a row is a little rough I know you guys will hate me and call me a conspiracy theorist for saying this... but... the Hawks WILL win the Winter Classic and I urge you to watch the calls for and against the Hawks. I think the Hawks are going to have the "Crosby Edge" in that game in order to further market a team that's been in the gutter for a long time. Already happened earlier this year. 8 power plays to 3. Pretty rare to see that kind of disparity in a NHL hockey game.
