  1. So they only have to pay half his salary this year. What about for the remainder of the contract?
  2. I saw this on a post at LetsGoWings.com.....I dont think it is even remotely true but I just thought of something today that scared the hell out of me: From Ducks: Chris Pronger From Chicago: Brent Seabrook, Dustin Byfuglien, Martin Havlat's expiring contract, 1st round pick (2009). The Hawks then pick up an enforcer (Laraque?) or an experienced forward (Recchi?) for chickenfeed and get Pronger's experience and sandpaper for this year and next year, plus get a whole lot tougher to play against. The Ducks get a 20-game audition to see if they want to re-sign UFA Havlat, plus they get solid prospects in Byfuglien and a draft pick, and a chance to see if Seabrook can get back on track. Maybe the Hawks would have to throw in Skille as well into one of the deals. I'm scared. I need someone to talk me out of this trade. Obviously, I think it only works if the Ducks bite on the last year of Havlat's $6 million/year contract. I actually dont think it would be a good deal for the Hawks, but it would sure shake things up some.
  3. I think Julien is going to win the Adams Chara will probably win the Norris As for the Venzina, I think I will go with Ty Conklin!! :) I like the Hitchcock to Shottenhiemer analogy. I think Hitchcock is a great coach who gets his teams to play inside his system and they do well. He has not had great playoff success however. Though he does have a Stanley Cup. I think Hitchcock wears out his welcome over time. Who do you guys see winning the Lady Bing?
  4. I dont think there is any question which team has better and more inter changeable forwards. If the Wings arent forced or dont feel obligated to play Chelios, they also have better dmen. I think the question that will arise in a 7 game series is going to be goaltending. Nobokov is clearly better than anyone the Wings have. I think the trade was probably desperation by both teams. I dont think either of them is top 8 in their conferences right now. give Steve Mason the Venzina. Columbus scares me as a playoff team.
  5. This trade is a head scratcher. I understand it from Anahiems position. They need dmen. I have the feeling the Penguins brought in Kunitz to appease the Kid. Nice player but for the similar size contract I would rather have Whitney. Dont know much about the prospect that Pittsburgh is getting also.
  6. THTHTHTTHPPPPTTTTT!!!!!!!!!
  7. I have a question. I have something I have to do tonight. Is is possible to download the yahoo video feed for tonights wings/sharks game and watch it later?
  8. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO He's not booing, he is saying Neeewwwwwww. Nashville flat outplayed the Hawks the third period. That is why the Hawks lost. Pointing fingers at the officials doesnt help the team get any better. It just makes excuses to keep performing poorly against lessor opponents. I had the benefit of TiVo and you can't honestly tell me the refs didn't influence that 3rd period.... No. The Refs also didnt have the benefit of TiVo. So the calls were legit. This does not take away from the fact that Nashville outplayed the Hawks. Complain about the officiating all you want, but the Preds won because they were the better team last night. Also I know this is a predominately pro-Hawks site, but if you are going to claim lose because of refeeing, you should be prepared to claim victory because of officiating.

  10. As a mostly impartial observer of the game, I dont think the refs had much to do with the Hawks losing. I agree that NHL refereeing is bad, but it is not impartial. Its bad for everyone.
  11. I am not going to argue that there is a double standard because it is obvious. What I am going to suggest is this. Is it possible that the NFL sees PED use not as cheating, but as a health issue. So to help their players with rehabilitation they dont spend marketing money and press conference time calling them cheaters and saying that they are a black eye on the sport. Just a thought.
  12. I think about 10 yrs ago there was an idea that all penalties in the last minute would result in a penalty shot.
  13. you cant post that without posting this announcer always cracks me up I think this one was more about Roy wanting to regain some credibility. It was a year later than that original brawl. Vernon who is about 6 inches shorter than Roy really kind of embarrassed Roy. Av/Wings were must see tv back then though.
  14. McCarty scored the game winner in OT also. I do believe that Colorado had a 2 goal lead going into 3rd period also. There is no rivalry in all of sports today as nasty as the Wings/Avs in the mid to late 90s. That was my personal greatest game ever as a fan.
  15. I was watching something the other day and there were 2 talking heads complaining about steroids and calling it cheating and blah blah blah. Anyway this is were I really think that the media and fans are missing the whole picture. Steroids are not banned because they make you a better player, they are banned because they are bad for your health. It is not cheating to use steroids. It is self-mutilation. The culture of winning and getting paid at all costs needs to be changed. Personally I think this has to start with ownership caring more about their players as individuals than as commodities that create revenue. I am not trying to take personal responsibility away from the players, because they are ultimately the ones who decide to take steroids. Quite often though we will give someone a break for growing up in an environment that encourages alcohol and drug abuse. Well that is a very similar environment that was created for athletes in the last 30 yrs that encourages steroid use.
  16. I would like to see the league just drop 4 teams.
  17. I think Sox fans are going to be unhappy about this
  18. Was Threet the one that came from Georgia Tech? What about Sheridan, he wasnt a senior was he?
  19. I was looking at some hockey videos and came across this one. The best game I have ever watched in any sport. There is no rivalry in sports today as hated as the Wing/Avs rivalry in the late 90s. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7DlAjrhm9s&feature=related
  20. I think this is a nice pick up for Montreal. Schneider is a solid offensive d-man who plays good positional defense. He is getting a little old and not what he was 5 yrs ago, but still a solid pick up. I am pretty sure he started his career in Montreal.
  21. Pens fire Therrien http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=Amdq5N4y5DgOOWWtF5OglY17vLYF?slug=ap-penguins-coachfired&prov=ap&type=lgns
  22. Put the best team in the NHL on TV? What kind of stupid idea is that Cyno? :)
  23. Ok where did all these mods come from? Adam Deadmarsh? how is he higher than Martin LaPointe?
  24. Does this mean that Anze cannot do his Anze Random Player ratings anymore?
  25. NO ONE EXPECTED THE SPANISH INQUISITION!!!
