  1. Man, that was terrible throw by Lindor to the plate. I really haven’t seen much of him since Cleveland, but what I have seen is a lot of spotty defense lately.
  2. There were some pretty astoundingly bad trades in there to help make that happen. The Cubs turned Lee Smith, Dennis Eckersly, Rafael Palmeiro, and Jamie Moyer into one decent year of Mitch Williams. Add the failure to resign Greg Maddux to that and you have a recipe for a lot of years of suck. paul kilgus was the first cub as a kid who i thought "this guy sucks." Doug Dascenzo, and Harry horsefeathering loved that dude.
  3. Too young. That said, the fact that he was 58 makes me feel old as hell. That surprised me as well. And then I thought, "maybe he was a really old rookie in 1989." But nope, he debuted at 25. We're just getting old. What an amazing rookie season he had. He was never quite able to reproduce those results, although he did have a bit of a renaissance in 93-94. Thinking of Dwight Smith made me pull up Jerome Walton's stats for reference and I was amazed by his stat lines from 94-98. It was a very limited sample size over those years, but he was consistently hitting around .300 with OPS in the 750-900 range. Why didn't he get more at bats during that timeframe? Does anyone know why he retired at 32? Don’t know, but the fact that Maddux, Walton, Dwight Smith, Grace, Mitch Williams and Dunston transitioned into one of the worst teams of the 90’s is pretty sad. Edit: and even Sandberg into the mid 90’s had he not quit for awhile.
  4. Just one opinion, but I think the unis are pretty slick. All Star games are silly, but to me MLB does this thing at least better than anyone else.
  5. Yeah, I listen almost every day and watch occasionally. I love baseball and the Cubs even when they suck it’s better than whatever else is on TV. Unless it’s a national game, I can’t watch it because I have a streaming service. I’m not paying for a package for this team. My Cubs interest is pretty much MiLB threads these days, ala the Darwin Barney era.
  6. The Eric Gregg game. I remember watching this live.
  7. Or good defense. IIRC, it was his “intangibles” that were supposedly off the charts, but not exactly the best athlete. On defense, he was said to get great reads off the bat but was not what anyone would call fast. That WS G7 play where he stretched a hit into a double was probably everything Theo could have envisioned.
  8. Schwarbs with 2 more dongs tonight. That 4 in the last two days and 26 in his first 80 games. Edit: that’s 27 HR.
  9. Whooooaaah. Aaron Rodgers is a deep thinker, man. If he weren’t good at football he’d be doing shrooms and telling us how cool 311 is.
  10. Great trade for the Panthers, so I hate it. Baker is poised for a huge comeback this season. His shoulder was held together with superglue last year, and it was for the Browns organization.
  11. Wondering what becomes of basketball dominant schools like Duke, Syracuse, Villanova, Memphis…
  12. They have the Dallas market, which is effectively unattainable by the B1G at this point. As for the B1G waiting on ND before going to Washington/Oregon, I'm wondering if the B1G will look at other ACC teams if ND agrees to join, shoot for a UNC or some ACC rival that ND wants to maintain. And Houston, Atlanta and I suspect all of Florida soon.
  13. It’s a lot but minn has three cornerstones under contract that should fit well together Yep, but that is one hell of a price. ESPN and TNT are going to weep when the 2023 Western playoffs include Minnesota, New Orleans, Utah, Memphis and San Antonio.
  14. I am but a simple caveman lawyer. When you say “haul”, do you mean like better than any of our deadline deals last year?
  15. Congrats Rebel Black Bear Sharks. Thank you for not letting the Sooners win a title.
  16. Canario didn’t even look like he set up properly for that throw. He gunned that guy down leaning on his back foot.
  17. I was cheering for laryngitis.
  18. I don’t know. That guy seems to me like Draymond with talent. Love the Pels pick of Daniels. They are doubling down on great on ball defenders, plus he sees the floor and can pass at 6’9”. I’m with this.
  19. I mean, he was safe at 2nd. Glad they upheld that. I feel like either OM or ARK would beat the Sooners.
  20. And KB is what we thought he was. Ok but made of glass.
  21. Javy .192/.233/.305 4 HR 18 RBI 54 K Schwarbs .212/.344/.487 18 HR 37 RBI 84 K KB .270/.342/.333 0 HR 4 RBI 15 K 17 GAMES Rizzo .231/.336/.500 17 HR 47 RBI 45 K
  22. You just HATE to see it. I’d say UT is maybe the 4th best program in Texas right now.
  23. Didnt seem like a lot of love at 1B between Willson and Rizzo. Especially because Rizzo usually has a full fledged conversation with anyone else on base.
  24. Screw you for making me think of RobThomas and that awful horsefeathering song. He over annunciated every lyric like he was mouthing words to a deaf person. horsefeathers, he blows so bad.
