According to them, it's the SEC's inability to get CBS to renegotiate their TV contract. Years ago, the conference signed what was at the time a mega deal for CBS to broadcast football and some basketball. As years have passed, the SEC thinks that it should be getting more, thus a new deal with ESPN and ABC coming in 2026. Compounding that feud is that the SEC thinks that if they are bringing in two major markets before the current deal ends, they deserve even more money, but CBS isn't budging. Moser added that Texas has all the money in the world to buy their way out of the Big XII schedules and contracts but OU does not. If the SEC struck a new deal with CBS, the conference would basically foot the bill for OU to join right away.
