  1. oh no we're getting smoked by a very good kansas team at the phog what a big surprise. i wonder if illinois would score 20 at kansas. Sensitive much? I'm sure UI would score at least 35-40. But KU sure wouldn't get much more than 50-60. I fail to understand why people who are fans of other conferences don't realize that scores are low in the B10 because teams play defense, and not because players are inept at putting the ball in the basket. Scores are low in the B10 overall because every team plays at a slow, half-court pace. Scores can be especially low in the B10 because some of the teams are really good defensively. In terms of defensive efficiency, 10 of the 11 BT teams are in the top 100 nationally, 4 of which are in the top 25 (Illinois, Purdue, MSU, Minnesota). The top two defensive teams in the country are actually Memphis and Louisville.
  2. As far as I'm concerned, Aaron Miles can be Mr. Irrelevant.
  3. I was going to say that whoever got the 8 seed would get a rough first round matchup with NW in Chicago, but apparently the BTT stopped rotating this year and is staying in Indy for 5 years.
  4. Illinois is a fantastic defensive team that can be intensely frustrating on the offensive end due to their inability to get the ball inside consistently, settling for a ton of jump shots. At the same time, they are a poor offensive rebounding team (overall a below average rebounding team, but exceptionally poor on the offensive glass), so if their one jumpshot doesn't fall, they're often not getting to the line or getting a second chance, so every point seems like a chore.
  5. He's not Calvin Johnson, but at 6-3 he's taller than most WRs in the draft, he's strong and athletic and has good to very good hands. Plus he's only 21, so he's got more time and upside. I kinda question whether he's average speed or not. He's no burner, but the times I've seen him I'd say he's probably above average speed. He's 6-1. Did he get measured at the combine? ESPN has him listed at 6-3. Yeah, he was measured 6-1 at the combine. ESPN probably didn't update it yet. Crabtree is essentially an average WR physically that played in an offense designed to get him the ball as often as possible.

  7. So it looks like... Round 11 Pick Team Player 161 Saber Metrics - PASS 162 The Fighting Manginos - PASS 163 Valenzuela's Screwballs - PASS 164 Lynx - PASS 165 Severe Tooterstorms - PASS 166 NC Cubs 167 Tampa Bay Rays 168 Quakers 169 Harrys Budcrew 170 The Eyes of Texas 171 Northside Baseball 172 Alamo Stealth 173 Galesburg Hand Sanitizers 174 Tootielicious 175 Fuzzy Logistics 176 Raw Dawgs So, NC is up if he's still picking.
  8. I'll just take Casey Blake and be done.
  9. Sure, the Dodgers may have swept the Cubs in the playoffs last year, but this year's Cubs are improved enough to beat them with minor leaguers.
  10. I'm pretty much done unless someone needs a SS.

    Golf

How about you don't check the golf thread if you don't want to know about today's golf? :)
  12. I've got...2 of the top 100....now...yeah, still rebuilding.
  13. Sean Gallagher and Rick Ankiel.
  14. And...back to search the FA pool to find someone else...
  15. No, Don wanted to know if/when his player would become eligible at a position, not to get a special exemption to put him there to sidestep the rules. Yes, he was asking for a clarification of the rules. He doesn't currently have him at 3B to sidestep them, he asked what the eligibility rules were. Juan clarified that if a player is the opening day starter at a position, that player becomes eligible for that position, by CBS's player eligibility rules. He's not asking if he can stash him at 3B until he plays there. You're trying to claim this as some kind of precedent to side-stepping the rules. If Sheets is signed and placed on the DL before the season starts, he can go on the IR. That's as similar as the two scenarios get.

  17. Since every hitter I wanted to take as a backup/utility is now gone, I guess I'll go with Randy Wolf.
  18. I'll select Joey Devine and Chad Qualls. 82. Lindstrom 83. Pablo Sandoval 84. Duchscherer 85. Kouzmanoff 86. Anibal Sanchez 87. Sean Marshall 88. Kevin Gregg 89. Pettite 90. Oliver Perez 91. Aaron Cook 92. Mike Gonzalez 93. Chris Perez 94. Wandy Rodriguez 95. Franceour 96. Joey Devine 97. Chad Qualls 98 The Fighting Manginos 99 Fire Sale (Buddiga) 100 Lynx 101 Severe Tooterstorms 102 NC Cubs 103 Tampa Bay Rays 104 Quakers 105 Harrys Budcrew 106 The Eyes of Texas 107 Saber Metrics 108 Alamo Stealth 109 Galesburg Hand Sanitizers 110 Tootielicious 111 Fuzzy Logistics 112 Raw Dawgs
  19. OK, I'm back. Let me see who's still around for a few mins and then I'll pick.
  20. Just as everyone was expecting, the Illini went 1-1 this week.
  21. Huh, CBS just e-mailed me and said the 10th pick was Dempster and that it's my turn for my first round pick. I think it's going on its own.
  22. If Fukudome can make a bit of a resurgence, and even hit for some kind of gap power while still taking walks, I'd like to see the lineup be: Soriano Fukudome Ramirez Bradley Soto Fontenot Lee Theriot Or, if Lee has to stay in the 3 spot: Soriano Fukudome Lee Bradley Ramirez Soto Fontenot Theriot
  23. Hmm. I'm not sure if he does or not. The 17 at bats were after he lost rookie eligibility, so that year might count against him. We probably need Juan to verify that one. But DL years don't count against exemption years, and 2007 was basically a DL year for Choo.
  24. Less than 50 plate appearances for 2 of the 4 years, so I'd think so.
  25. He picked Jose Lopez last night before Buddiga picked this morning. EDIT: I think confusion is stemming from the fact that I actually had 3 picks in 5 there, not just the 2 back-to-backs.
