  1. USC and VCU in too? Who the hell isn't in? St. Mary's is screwed.
  2. I was about 5 minutes from swearing off this tournament crap altogether.
  3. Swap ODU and Michigan State, swap Virginia Tech and Michigan, swap in PSU for BC. Call it a bracket?
  4. Completing the bracket...
  5. Also, if Dayton wins today, another bid is gone.
  6. So, if I swap BYU/SDSU, and UConn/Syracuse, here's what we end up with: At this point, the only changes I'd recommend would be to put PSU in instead of BC, and possibly New Mexico/USC in place of Georgia. As is, this would be the First Four: Clemson vs. Georgia Saint Mary's vs. Boston College Texas-SA vs. Alabama State Arkansas-LR vs. Hampton
  7. I've been a little surprised at the lack of recognition New Mexico has gotten as a bubble team. I don't think they'll get in, they have warts, and I don't think they're great, but two wins over BYU and a win over Colorado (and they are ranked No. 43 in Pomeroy) puts them, in my opinion, rather on par with some other oft-mentioned bubble teams. Little known fact: New Mexico is actually rated higher in Pomeroy and Sagarin this year than they were last year, when they got a 3 seed.
  8. Last step is filling in the rest of the bracket legally.
  9. Remainder of the S-Curve: 29. Washington* 30. Villanova 31. Florida State 32. Missouri 33. Illinois 34. Old Dominion* 35. Utah State* 36. Michigan State 37. Tennessee 38. UCLA 39. Gonzaga* 40. George Mason 41. Michigan 42. Colorado 43. Virginia Tech 44. Richmond 45. Clemson 46. Butler* 47. Saint Mary's 48. Belmont* 49. Georgia 50. Boston College
  10. It's too bad there isn't an NCAA tournament berth available for the winner, correct? Correct, only a CIT berth. BTW, North Dakota ended up winning the final in double OT by 1 point, 77-76. So that's 6 games decided by a total of 11 points.
  11. South Dakota hits a 3 at the buzzer to tie the game at 65 after the first OT.
  12. The tournament nobody cares about, the Great West, may just be the closest tournament ever. Here are the scores: South Dakota 73, Chicago State 70 Houston Baptist 72, NJIT 70 North Dakota 71, UTPA 70 South Dakota 72, Utah Valley 70 North Dakota 65, Houston Baptist 63 North Dakota 50, South Dakota 50 (end regulation)
  13. Also, if Richmond doesn't get the auto-bid tomorrow, Dayton's stealing a bid. Same with Utah State with the WAC championship going on right now against Boise State.
  14. Ranking the last 22 (well, 21) unplaced teams: Looking further into it, I think Penn State easily has a better profile now than Boston College. Also looking closer, New Mexico has a comparable profile to Colorado/Georgia, as well. USC is borderline (better than BC, IMO). None of the other potentials come very close.
  15. It would be hilarious if UConn were upset in the first round of the NCAA tourney now.
  16. Weird stat: Only five of the 27 conference tournaments completed have been won by the top seed (Belmont, Oakland, Bucknell, Northern Colorado, Kansas). Of the remaining five, only 4 even feature the top seed in the finals (ACC, Big Ten, SEC, WAC).
  17. And they have games in hand on just about everyone (only Dallas has played the same amount).
  18. FYI, it's UC Santa Barbara and there's no hyphen. As long as you're not going to pitch a fit that they're not one or two spots higher on the fictional S-Curve. ;) Haha, no worries on that. I'm assuming they'll be a 16-seed. Do they have a chance of avoiding a play-in game? I really doubt they'd be in the play-in game. Texas-San Antonio, Arkansas-Little Rock, Hampton and Alabama State are clearly the 4 worst teams in the field. Boston U and UNC Asheville are probably the two next worst, so they'd probably avoid a 16 seed altogether.
  19. FYI, it's UC Santa Barbara and there's no hyphen. As long as you're not going to pitch a fit that they're not one or two spots higher on the fictional S-Curve. ;)
  20. Well, the stretch is over. Let's see how they did... So, swept Utah (who was admittedly a lot more formidable looking with Sloan and Williams), swept New Orleans, swept Orlando, swept Miami, split with Atlanta and probably should have swept them, and swept Charlotte. Beat San Antonio and LA as well. Lost in Portland. 13-2 against that stretch, though, is at least acceptable. :P 16-4, though? Sure, that would keep them in contention for the #1 seed.
  21. Alabama State wins the SWAC (still gets the lowest seed in the play-in). Akron upset Kent State in the MAC final to win the bid. Cal-Santa Barbara upset Long Beach State to win the Big West bid.
  22. Not a really good game from Taj tonight. Defense has really slacked in the 2nd half.
  23. This team is seriously dangerous when even the second unit clicks offensively.
  24. Washington wins the Pac-10 tournament.
  25. San Diego State throttles BYU to win the Mountain West. I'm tempted to swap them in the S-Curve, especially considering BYU is short a key player.
